  • Minimalistic, Sturdy, Wood frame - Made in America
Size: Queen
Stop buying cheap $100 bed frames with low quality hardware. I have owned several cheap "starter" bed frames. Every single one of them ended up damaging hardwood flooring after 1-2 years of wear on the legs/feet. They are cheap and easy to put together, but is it really worth damaging the floor? That's a major issue. You are causing potentially a lost security deposit, repairs or headaches because you didn't want to buy a decent frame. Meet KD Frames. This is like Amish built furniture. It's just solid wood, and functional. Looks great. Want it stained and cleared? go ahead and do it yourself. You pay less for a functional unfinished frame that looks fine. Perfectly fine as is and I wouldn't pay another $100 if a stained/Poly coat version was available. Find me another bed frame at this price point that is solid wood and supports itself with four (4) legs. Count the legs. 4 legs. Notice how it doesn't need 6, 9, or 12 legs because it isn't made of cheap Chinese stamped metal? Notice how you aren't stubbing your toes on stupid annoying legs where they shouldn't be? Notice how it can support itself because the design isn't trash and actually makes sense? I don't think I'll ever need another bed frame, looking at how this one is built. I might actually buy another KD frame for my guest bedroom eventually. ... show more

  • Premium quality
Size: Twin XL
This bed has an amazing quality. It’s immediately apparent once you see the wood. Very solid- just as it should be. The color is beautiful as is, but I decided to stain and finish mine to match existing furniture. I’ve never stained or finished wood so this was a first for me! I chose not to stain the mattress slats but stained everything else. (Twin XL) For anyone wondering what I used for staining/finishing this bed: - Minwax pre-stain wood conditioner - Minwax red mahogany wood penetrating oil stain (one coat) - Minwax fast drying polyurethane clear satin (3 coats) - 220 and 320 sandpaper Anyway I just love how beautiful this bed is, I love the natural wood grain that is present. It really shows off its quality. I really love how the stain brought out the natural wood grain as well. I will say FYI that most of the notches for the mattress slats are rough/kind of splintery on the edges (where the top side is/mattress sits). I just sanded them down slightly because I was worried about the mattress dragging across it, or my kiddo getting curious and running his fingers under the mattress one day. Assembly was super easy. Very pleased. I ended up laying down anti-slip material on top of the slats but I’m not sure if it’s necessary- I did it just in case. My kid loves his bed and I will be updating this to see how it holds up but so far it has been VERY solid and sturdy. No squeaking. We bought a 10 inch twin xl mattress here on Amazon (Coolvie 10 Inch Hybrid Mattress) just to clarify to anyone for mattress size/height reference on my photos. This is truly a great bed! A premium quality product and I am so happy I decided to buy this bed for my kiddo! **update** It’s been about three months now that my kiddo has had this, no problems with it at all. We did tighten the screws as suggested one month into using it. Still really solid and sturdy, no squeaking at all. We (parents) sit on it all the time too. We love it! Edit # 2- Six months later and we still love this bed. No issues and I highly recommend this bed! Edit # 3 - 4 years later and still loving this bed. Even now it doesn’t squeak or get creaky. Son is still using it and he loves his bed! 10/10 ... show more

  • Worth
Size: King (U.S. Standard)
It was delivered today (3 days early). It took an hour to put together with a cordless drill and 2 people who have assembled a ton of ikea furniture. It’s simple, but good quality and very sturdy. The platform height and floor clearance is perfectly thought out. Brings the mattress height to a comfortable height and though it’s exactly king sized and not an inch more, it still feels substantial. The wood is solid and perfectly cut and sanded. It’s unfinished with subtle grain variations. There are some slats with dark coloring but only on the under frame slats you will never see. The wood could easily be painted, stained, whitewashed… but I like the raw look and feel. Gives a Swedish vibe with much better quality compared to ikea… really not a fair comparison. Most importantly, I feel confident in my doggos hanging out under the bed safely and they have plenty of room down there. Kind of in love with this bed frame! ... show more

  • A very nice bed frame!
Size: Queen
Just received this bed frame. This could just be the purchase of the year for me! The assembly process was very smooth. All needed hardware was supplied, directions plain and simple. Plenty of room under the bed for storage. No legs to get in the way of storage boxes so you basically have the whole bed footprint at your command. In fact, ONLY four legs to deal with. This will make walking around the bed easier while making it up. No stubbing the toes or inadvertantly kicking a leg possibly causing damage to the frame. This frame appears to be very sturdy. I have to admit it's only been a short time so any added comments may be in line for the future. I had been looking for a bed frame for about five months (pert near daily) to replace the current frame. looked at metal and wood. I did want one with a headboard and footboard. Although this frame has no footboard, I feel I have made a very worthwile purchase. Should the manufacturer ever decide to make one for this frame, I will be the first in line to purchase it. All in all, I would recomend the purchase of this frame. Economical, ease of assembly, sturdy, and nice looking. Plus, you can change the appearence with stain, paint, or leave natural, as is. Very much worth the addition to the casa. ... show more

  • Beautiful bed. Quiet enough for us.
Size: Queen
I searched for the perfect as quiet as possible bed for our space (a small apartment) and this bed is great. We’ve had it for a month. Here’s why: - It looks beautiful. We chose to leave it as is coming out of the box and it still looks great. It’s also the perfect material to stain if you’d prefer. I like the natural look though. - Sturdinesss. Coming from an ikea bed, this bed is much sturdier. There’s no sinking or sagging. - It’s pretty quiet. Now, is it absolutely silent and doesn’t make sound at all? I’m sorry to report that because the mattress doesn’t have anything to stick it to the frame, you may hear some movement with the mattress if there’s a lot of movement on top. I’ve heard one creak from moving on the edge of the bed but I imagine it just needs to be tightened there. Maybe you can find something to make the mattress stick so it doesn’t slide. However, this bed is silent enough for us. When we move in bed, there are no creaks. It’s actually surprising how there are no creaks. If it rocks a little, there are no noises except for noise from the mattress moving. We’ve had it for a month and I do imagine it needs to be tightened in some places. So far, so good. Our neighbors downstairs are probably grateful they can’t hear our every move. Bless them. - Was assembled in under an hour with 2 people working on it with absolutely no directions (they chose to not look at the directions) - Lots of space underneath. We chose to buy cheap under bed rolling storage from Walmart instead of the expensive brand ones. I would recommend this bed. ... show more

  • Clean, classic look
Size: Full
I like this bed frame very much. It was a little higher than what I wanted to spend, but saw it was American wood, hardwood at that, so I made the call. When I say hardwood, it is "tulip poplar", not a wood I was familiar with, but upon inspection it is hardwood, not pine. It is a pale color, with may make you think it is pine, and others say it takes stain well, but I like its pale, fresh look. The grain is very straight with no knots. The "doubled up" look of the mattress support slat section may seem odd, but it gives the bed added stability, removing the need for those silly 5th and 6th legs seen on other beds. Also, I think this approach is smart: it's much smarter, easier, and cheaper to make shorter support slats than unbroken longer ones. That tells me that someone, at least, is trying to reduce waste. The bed itself is designed well: the screw apetures are smartly recessed, the dowels fit easily, and instructions were clear. All you need is a phillips and the supplied hex key (Allen wrench). Luckily I had my ratcheting bit driver. ... show more

  • Great SOLID wood Bed frame for a great price!!
Size: Queen
I just received this bed yesterday and let me tell you I am not disappointed. At first my husband and I were shopping for a solid wood frame, no pressed wood or veneer particle board type bed. We have already been down that road and while it did hold up for 6+ years I can tell you that it really didn't fit our mattress and at one point the supports for the middle kept slipping out to the point I gave up trying to fix it anymore. Fast forward to having put together and owned this frame for a day I must say it is truly a solid frame. Everything came packaged in a long box probably 5 or 6ft long and wrapped with some heavy duty band material. For the size and weight of this box (70+ lbs) the box was in better shape then some really small packages I have received. we opened the box and sorted the parts out in their respective categories and opened the 1 package of hardware needed to assemble the bed and got to work. Between both of us it probably took us about 1hr to 1 1/2 hrs to put together. For as many parts that came in the box it LOOKED complicated, but as we progressed it really wasn't hard or difficult at all. We had literally no issues trying to figure out the directions. The directions were very well written and described every little detail that is needed to make sure mistakes don't happen. All the holes are predrilled, and required no modifications on our part. Some dowel holes were a little tight to fit together, but nothing that a slight tap from a rubber mallet couldn't fix. (I didn't mind this because I wouldn't want a bed frame that sqeaks or falls apart later anyways.) Overall, this SOLID WOOD bed frame, the directions, the very attractive price tag, and the sturdiness all make me give this bed frame an A++. I would highly recommend getting something like this if you are: in the market for a bed frame that is solid wood, doesn't cost a kidney, don't want to wait forever for a furniture store to deliver your $2k+ bed frame (not including matteress), and the ability to customize it should you feel the need to. Paint it, stain it, you name it, you can do whatever you want to make it your own work. Get this bed! You won't be disappointed! ... show more

  • A very happy return customer
Size: Queen
At this point I have 3 bedrooms in the house replaced with different frames from KD Frames. Absolutely love the quality, craftmanship, the super easy assembly, and the durability - the oldest frame in the house is 10 years old, was disassembled and re-assembled through multiple moves, and is solid as rock to the day. The beds have slowly replaced offerings from the local Ikea. While Ikea uses glued wood for slats and such, these are solid wood and have stood the test of time and my wild bed-jumping children. The slats from Ikea broke - or rather came apart layer by layer - from the middle. A second big plus for this bed is the unfinished wood. Easy to pop into the local Home Depot and grab one of the many polyurethane options. For the one in the picture I used an espresso poly-and-stain all in one. The first coat sinks into the wood, the second one sort of standardizes the color across all the slats (they start with various shades of beige to green), and the third finishes off to a nice dark shade. I probably skipped steps and did them wrong - I did not use any sandpaper at all. Given that the oldest bed with this approach has given me 10 years already without any maintenance, I'm OK with the price-value curve here. Assembly of the bed takes about an hour with my 8 year old helping me match up the parts to the part numbers, a power screwdriver with a hex bit, and a second adult helping put the final assembly together. I'm not sure if this matters in today's day and age, but I really like the manufacturer's statement that this bed is made in the US from wood sourced from the US. ... show more
