I've really come to like gel kayak seat cushions because of their versatility. I've literally taken this blue gel seat cushion with black removable cover and used it as a kayak seat, to soften the uncomfortable backseat of a pickup, to add a little cushion on a picnic bench out in the woods, as padding on a stump that I sat on, directly on the ground itself, and even to protect my knees while kneeling on both rough and hard surfaces. There are few places that you might sit where this handy kayak seat cushion wouldn't be just the right thing. Both the gel insert and the removable fabric cover seem to be reasonably well made. The gel sinks down part way when you sit on it and then it pops right back into place when you stand back up. The nubbies on the cover also help slow down slippage.Neither the insert nor the cover are damaged by water and the cover can even be thrown into the washer. I've found the gel to be too solid and heavy to float properly on the surface of water, it tends to sink down quite a ways, but, thankfully I haven't had to retrieve it out of deep or rough water so that hasn't been an issue. Overall I like this gel seat cushion and I have even loaned it to family members who also appreciated its use...

I’ve been using this as an extra cushion on my office desk chair for several weeks now. It’s smaller than the chair seat, but it’s nice and cushy for comfort. Unlike foam cushions this will rebound quickly and has yet to over-compact after hours of use without standing up. Only thing I would change is size, but the thickness is great, the performance is better than expected, and I’m not using it for its intended use, so I didn’t count off for size.

So full disclosure,i did not use this as a kayak seat as I don't have one, but used it as my car seat cushion. Drive a 21 rav4 and drive 120 miles a day. They are not a comfortable ride so I got this to see if it would help. It did. Send to have been well made and the gel insert is comfortable. I noticed that my back hurt less while driving. I do plan on eventually getting a yak and wouldn't hesitate to put this in there. Pretty good value in my opinion.

I got this to bring with me use on airline flights. Airline coach seats aren't the most comfortable and my back is getting sore in my old age. Haven't had a chance to fly with it yet so I have been using it on my desk chair. I understand that I am not using this cushion for its intended purpose on a kayak. I want to be as fair as I can, so because of this reason, I am not docking any stars off my review. Pros Works well enough on a desk chair. The pattern of the cushion makes for an interesting feeling on my bottom. I get that this was made for a kayak and the hollow cushion is likely for channeling water away from it and not sitting for hours on end in front of a computer. Cons After sitting on it for a short amount of time, my butt cheeks started getting numb in places. I figure this would happen wherever you would be sitting on it. I'm not sure that this cushion would work well on an airplane seat given my experience with it on my desk chair. This cushion would probably work much better on a kayak as intended.

This literally doubled my time in my kayak. I have back issues and it was getting to where I can't kayak for long any more and this literally made it a breeze again. Good quality and comfortable. Easy to dry and works so well. Looks a little funny but oh well. Great value for the money!
