  • Very light weight, well formed four section kayak paddle
I'll be carrying this paddle on my boat while cruising under sail fulltime so the ease of storage afforded by four sections and very light weight is a definite plus. The paddle is well formed with sections fitting snugly and securely. All hardware is functioning well. The center cam clamp connects the two halves securely. I haven't had any problems with parts connected with adhesives, all have remained perfectly well adhered. Note the maximum paddle adjustment length is 220 cm which may be shorter than optimal for some but perfectly adequate for many, depending on torso length and kayak width. A small molded reference arrow is provided on the cam lock fitting (pictured) but you will need to mark the paddle for your preferred blade feather angle and paddle length. I'm very happy with this paddle. ... show more

  • Couldn't use
Seemed light weight and quality. But I was sent two left paddles.

  • Lightweight yet strong and durable!
I really like this paddle. I originally got it to use as a spare or replacement since it seems every year somehow we lose, forget or break one. It breaks down into 4 pieces for super easy storage and assembly takes maybe 20 seconds. When assembled it measures in at around 7 feet. Speaking of storage, This paddle is very lightweight, weighing in at just over 30ozs. It can easily fit in a backpack if you're hiking into a spot or portaging. The carbon fiber shaft gives it strength and the areas where the paddle and shaft attach are connected very well and are when assembled, feel nice and solid with no wiggle. The blades are made with a plastic cement according to the companies literature. It is a very hard plastic, and durable. The cut through water and have a nice push that propels you rather well. Due to weather and scheduling I had to test in the neighbors pool. Another nice feature of these paddles is that they float. In case you capsize or overturn your kayak at least your paddle will be floating close by so you can use it to beat the sharks that just started circling you. These paddles are a wonderful value compared to a lot of others with lesser quality and I would definitely recommend this paddle to anyone looking for a quality, yet inexpensive paddle. ... show more

  • Skip this one
So the glue came apart after about 30 minutes of paddling on one of the paddles and then the other side cracked where the paddle goes into the tubing about an hour later so not good.

  • Lightweight, rigid, 4-section paddle
Carbon fiber UD kayak paddle: The sections are short enough that you can fit it into just about any kayak hold, or strap it on the deck. All parts fit together tightly and nothing wobbles after assembly. Like: *Light weight *Compact *Rigid *Assembles quickly *One clamp for length and feather adjustment *drip rings Don't like: *No "key" for right-hand or left-hand control *No stops for 0° 30° 45° or 90° blade feathering *No indicator for safe extension length *No flotation in either shaft section. I labeled the parts with a permanent marker because I wanted the clamp to push downward when tight and still have the left and right blades on the correct sides (the curve of the blade tip is down). I also marked where a 30° feather is so I can line it up when assembling. There's a triangle marker on the clamp end but nothing to correspond on the inner shaft. How long the marker will last is not known but I didn't want to scratch anything into the carbon. There is also no indicator showing how much of the shaft insert should be inside to keep it strong. There's usually a scale or ruler on extendable shafts but this has none. There is about 17cm of insertable shaft so I would only move it out 5cm (2") at most to make sure enough shaft is inserted to keep a strong connection. If you pulled the shaft out far enough to make it 220cm, there would only be about 5cm of connected shaft. I would use this as a 210cm paddle; shorter than my other flat water paddles but longer than my whitewater paddles. Some older round-shafted paddles I've used had a "key" attached to the round shaft so you could feel when the blade was in the correct position without looking. I'm looking around the basement for a heavy enough strip of rounded plastic that would do the same to fit under the first knuckle of my right hand. My better paddles have an oval shaft so a key is unnecessary. This shaft is very round on both sides (2 sections). Having a "key" or oval shaft is really handy if you have to do a sudden brace in waves so you get the flat of the blade on the water. I've "braced" with the edge of a round-shafted blade before only to get some roll practice. Most carbon blades heat warp the round into an oval on at least one side, but this one doesn't. The blades have a bit of foam for flotation and as long as the center shafts are not filled with water, the paddle floats. The shafts do not have any flotation and will sink without the blades. If the paddle is in the water for a long time, the shaft will fill with water and it will barely float. I'm going to cut up some closed-cell foam and push it down each shaft half for a bit more flotation. I use a paddle leash on flatwater, but I've lost my favorite white water paddle that didn't float very high while grabbing a tree in some high water. The more it floats the better. It paddles with no flex (very stiff) which could get uncomfortable on a long day. For distance I prefer wood, but for control, carbon. The blades are curved to the front on the long axis and slope back slightly from the center ridge with a bit of concavity to the front. It's not enough to make anything difficult for a beginner. It's light, short-sectioned, and easily stored & carried in your boat. Minus 1 star for having to fix it up for use. The price is good for carbon but it lacks the refined features. 4 stars ... show more

  • Looking good!
So far so good. They are sturdy, durable and light weight too. I have had zero issues with these and honestly they are almost as good as the name brands, if not better and for a fraction of the cost. I'm super happy with these and would definitely buy more.

  • Stiff Blades
Just what I needed because I'm tired of flimsy plastic blades that sometimes flex under a solid stroke. I always have to fight the wind when kayaking for fish and this helps a lot in cutting through the water like butter. I really like the compactness where you can store it in a bag/backpack or a storage well in your kayak so you can't lose it. Other than that, the blades are really stiff and made well. Assembling it together is pretty simple and the end result is very solid. The handle itself is carbon fiber and very solid as well. You can't bend the whole pipe at all once it's assembled. I actually modified mine a bit by adding heat shrink grips about 12" to both sides of the handles about an inch from the seams. This way, I'll have a lot of grip because my hands tend to get wet as well as slimy when I touch a lot of fish. I also shoved a bunch of closed cell foam within the pipes to add to the floatation of the paddle as a whole. I also go out in open ocean, and this would be a life saver to me. Overall, it's very light and stiff and now this is my go-to paddle avoiding my other paddles that are not as stiff as this. This I can modify while the others that I have can't. It's well worth it for the price you pay. ... show more
