Latch mechanism is a poor design. There is a slight taper to the paddle side which slides into the latching mechanism. If you extend the paddle to the 10cm mark the latch will not grip enough to keep the two halves secure. You can’t tighten the allen head screw enough to help the latch get a grip. If you don’t extend the paddle at all then I think the latch will have enough grip to not move. UPDATE: Added 2 stars since I use the paddle. I’ve got the latch holding steady at the 5 cm mark. This will take some adjustment in style for me but it feels oddly natural. I expect I can revert back to the European style easily once I master this paddle but may not want to. Second UPDATE: Went from one star to five as I’ve been using this paddle. I’m using it now with no extension at all and no feathering. The latch works fine in this configuration. I really love the flexibility of uses for the Greenland paddle. Excellent full carbon fiber paddle at this price. I’ve modified my stroke a lot and enjoy kayaking a bit more because of it. Youtube is a good source for tips on Greenland paddling.

Not the sellers fault but paddle was damaged in shipping and I got a refund no problem. Only way seller could do anything is some heavy duty ship tube, buy that can be damaged too. They do package in standard box so its a risk for shipping..Tho I didnt get to paddle this one due to the damage, I am a greenland paddle owner who has paddled GP for over 25yrs and had one of the early carbon fiber GP paddles made 25yrs ago.. I wanted to write quick review for others at least. For the price and what you get its pretty nice actually..the blades are pretty thin in cross section compared to my other paddles, GP often have a bit of a ovalized crosssection, but that is probably also a side product of historical wood paddles needed thicker profiles to prevent breakage. My olf carbon fiber GP had some of that profile..I have read that possible adds lift with low angle high speed cadence, but Im sure originally it was to prevent wood paddle breakage.. so if you use typical GP paddles this paddle will seem much thinner. The paddle was very light and tho iy looked and felt nicely built it definately didnt feel as heavy duty as my old carbonfiber GP, but not sure if that would have been issue in real life..my actual plan was to epoxy to sections together and remove the center connector since I use the whole length of the paddle in GP and do quick slides as needed to manuever. Tho my delivered paddle had cracked in shipping I did verify the sections did bolt together fine and honestly I had initially thought to just use one sention and create a single blade canoe paddle, but sadly both sectiobs had been cracked, and the impact that caused the crack had even caused a small tear in the case that comes with the paddle..that was a nice bonus also in that the case was actually pretty nice and was a pleasent suprise to get it with the paddle.. if I was 100% positive a replacement wouldnt be damaged in shipping I would have reordered it since there is nothing else like it in this price range.. carbon fiber just doesnt handle impact damage very well so shipping is risky, but this paddle isa affordable way to try out GP. Tho I personally prefer one piece GP i guess if you travel the 2 piece would be nice.. for the price it is for sure a 4star in what you get in a nice build and the case.. it is lightly built so that may be why some past reviewers had issues, but that is disadvantage of carbon fiber, to make it tougher you have to make it heavier.

This paddle was chosen because of its slightly wider blade than others available and its length adjustability. I already prefer a Greenland Paddle over a eurobladed paddle due to its ease on the shoulders and hands if you master the slightly different paddling technique. After using it on the last outing and trading briefly to a Euroblade, the lightness was so obvious I could not wait to get it back. It went together and held firmly without motion at all lengths without adjustment of the nut/latch. It was quick and easy to adjust the length while on the water. No flutter, it felt great and moved me right along. I prefer a shouldered Greenland paddle and the loom length is one I can work with. The only issue was the first one I received came deeply scratched the length of the blade. It comes with a simple divided travel bag. The second one I received had some superficial scratches on the tip of one blade that I could live with. This is a beautiful paddle and well worth the price. If you have never tried a Greenland Paddle this one is a great place to start.

I was so excited to get my new paddle, but was quickly disappointed when I took it out on the water. Let’s start with the positive, this paddle is super light and looks nice and very affordable for a carbon fiber paddle. It seems to really pull well through the water, but takes some getting used to given it is Greenland paddle. Unfortunately, the shaft/blade design makes paddling almost impossible. Because of the sudden flair out to the blade you are left with a very small section of the shaft to grip. I only had about a max of 12in (30cm) which is too narrow. Even with the kayak extend 10cm it is still too narrow. If the design had a gradual taper, like traditional Greenland paddles, it would be fine, but this design doesn’t work. I wanted to like this, but the design just doesn’t allow. I’ll be returning this and looking for a more traditional Greenland paddle.

I was sceptical about this paddle mostly due to the price. I ordered it anyway and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The finish was beautiful, the ferrule was tight and very well marked, the carrying case was very handy. I have 3 other Greenland paddles, all one- piece wood. This paddle has become my go-to due to weight, maintenance, and ease of transport. I would certainly recommend this paddle, especially for the price.

I bought this paddle because I was interested in trying a Greenland style paddle but couldn't justify the cost of a branded or custom paddle. This is my favorite paddle and the only one I normally use. It's light and comfortable to use. An excellent value.
