Very sturdy, quality product. Not too heavy, but heavy enough to know it’s sturdy and well made. Lots of room inside, more than I expected. Small gap around door, as advertised, to keep from being pried open. Sturdy metal construction as advertised. The door is very heavy and thick, unlike other safes. Not fire proof, but I think would hold up until heat was hot enough to melt through, which would take a while. Well presented, manufacturer took care to package safe to resist damage in shipping. I think this safe, for its features, size, and craftsmanship, is well worth what I paid for it (110), especially when compared to similar safes priced from 200-300. ... show more

UPDATE: Kavey contacted me when they saw my original review to see if they could rectify my problems. This was surprising--and good customer service. They helped me with my issues establishing a password, and I did get the feeling they took my remarks about the digital display seriously, perhaps for future iterations of this safe. They weren't satisfied until I was. I am! Thanks, Kavey. Would buy again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: It works. It’s very lightweight, which I needed because I had to get it up a flight of stairs to the second-story by myself. But it also means it’s light enough for anyone else to take, too. I knew that. It’s not fireproof, so I bought fireproof bags. I knew that, too. What I didn’t know was that the digital keyboard and the two LED-lit instructions are hard to read. The instructions, one of which I assume says “error,” is impossible to read, actually, since the text is so tiny, and about 10 inches off the floor! I also didn’t know I’d have trouble setting the password. I have not yet successfully managed to get my password to work, so it’s lucky for me I have keys to open the safe. I use it in my office to store guns. Not a real heavy duty safe, but a real good value for the money. I live in a safe neighborhood and my house has a security system which includes a lot of cameras. It is also in a gated community so cars can just come in without an owners approval. Most likely a burglar would leave as soon as the alarm goes off and wouldn't even find the safe. But with all my guns and some ammo in it, it would be pretty heavy to carry. It will certainly slow a burglar and also prevent unauthorized used of my weapons. I have it in a closet and that closet also has a big file cabinet. Once I scan/shred the documents in the cabinet, I will get rid of it and buy a bigger more heavy duty safe to also hold my rifles and shotguns. But at this price point it's an excellent safe and value. ... show more

    • It's inexpensive, but serves most purposes for my application.

My initial review was relatively negative because it was not possible to set the code due to very unclear, if not totally inaccurate, programming instructions, so I thought it did not work. I was happy to keep it though, because the keys worked great and it provided me the security I was hoping for. Ultimately, however, after some time, I was able to figure out the missing step and got it working. Now it works great with the code or the key. I use it to store handguns, ammunition and cash. There is no way anybody's going to pick this thing up loaded with lead, so I didn't bother to attach it using the hardware provided. For my purposes, it works great and I'm confident in its functionality and it's ability to protect my items in my environment. There is no way this safe is waterproof because i can see the internal light with the door closed and locked before it automatically turns itself off. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and the functionality for the price I paid for it and would recommend it. ... show more

This safe is great quality, especially for the price! I was pleasantly surprised to see how much room it had inside. So many safes have a way smaller interior than they appear to.and that was not the case here. The safe is exactly as advertised in regards to size. I was able to fit my Ruger super redhawk .44cal that has a 9.5 inch barrel(14.5in total) on one of the top adjustable shelves and still plenty of room for other stuff. Removeable shelves are very easy to adjust, with a few possible configurations. It has 3 methods of unlocking; with a key, with a regular combination on the keypad, or if the internal batteries are dead, there is an electronic box that you plug into an input on the exterior of the keypad to power it and proceed with the combination. Very cool! Also has a quiet mode in case you need to access it in an emergency. The beeps it makes when entering combination are loud enough to matter. The lock bolts are very heavy duty, and when you shut the door and turn the lock knob, it very quickly locks automatically and stays locked until you proceed to use one of the three combination methods. The internal LED is not very helpful if you have the shelves installed, because it points directly at the center shelf and the top shelf and floor lighting is blocked. This is the only real downside I've found with this safe. I will be installing some extra lighting for more visibility, but I got some cheap battery powered LEDs from the dollar store that last forever, so no big problem there. As you can see in the pictures, I had room for a lot of valuables and home protection. This is a Christmas gift for my father and i think he will love it. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more
