Let me start by saying I fish hard. So I was a little concerned that this wouldn't hold up but it did very well. I didn't have any issues handling large trout with it.

Works great out of the box is smooth like it should be. But the handle knob is made out of plastic with rubber glued around it and only used it once and it's already coming off. Definitely doing to need a aftermarket knob cover

I have bought three of these Reels, two for me and one for a friend. All three are the 3000s. His experience with it matches my own, and when I told him it was only $20 or so he nearly lost it. This is honestly a great reel. You can't go wrong with it. It's pulling power is great, it's release is great, and even after a year of owning, it still looks and feels brand new. Some things to go over: Line wise, I use all braid for main, it holds roughly 200-220 yards of 6-pound braided line, and close to 250 yards for 4-pound. That's hugely plenty of most lake fishing, and even when I fish off a Dam close to my home it that's a lot of line. It also cleans easy. Fishing ain't the cleanest thing, so when it's time for greasing and cleaning, it's easy to take apart and do it. ... show more

I've had the Centron 500 for a few weeks, and have caught quite a few bluegills with it. I got several much more expensive ultralight reels, but this one beats them all.
