Husband bought this for me for my bday and let me tell you how much of a game changer it has been in my fishing game. He was hesitant to buy it because he had never heard of the brand but after researching and talking to people hearing them say it cast so far he bought it. Of course he had to try it out first thinking no way it was gonna be as good as “name brand” reels. He casted clear over our pond, over a tree and well into our neighbors yard. He looked at me and said “d***n” with the most impressed look on his face. After going to find it I then casted and went from casting into our pond about half way to casting over our pond. Its so lightweight. I couldn’t wait to go fishing so went that night and I am now able to cast almost as far as him which is a game changer when fishing redfish and trout on grass lines. I have caught redfish, trout, bull reds, catfish, bass and so many more on this reel with ease. Husband even caught my pole and casted it into the water submerging it in saltwater and it still works perfect just like when we casted for the first time. If your hesitant to buy it don’t be just buy it! You will be just as impressed as we were and he has fished his entire life even commercial fished and charter fished and with him being impressed that says a lot! BUY IT! He already bought himself one and the son one who’s 9 and we are about to buy the daughter one who’s 7.

I do basic norther Colorado fishing on public bodies (Bass, Trout and occasionally pike) . In my opinion for the money and allowed budget this is great for beginner to intermediate anglers. I tossed a 15lb braided line on and just sent it. My largest lure was getting a consistent 40 to 50 yard cast (Crawdad Rapala). I have had no rats nests or any issue with the bail. I matched this reel with the 6'2" Spartacus rod. I am a big fan of matching color scheme and overall look. Light weight and maneuverable. Under closer inspection, I could not pick out any defects or factorial errors. I love the variability in drag as well. Looking good there boss.

I purchased the Spartacus 400 spinning reel, 7’ MH Spartacus spinning rod last week. I went Crappie, and White Perch fishing today and this 4-LB Largemouth Bass took my minnow and swam upstream, then cut back downstream. I only had a short cramped up area to fight her. The combo handled this Bass without a single problem. In my two years of purchasing numerous Kastking rod & reels I haven’t been disappointed yet. Thanks Kastking for offering such good products with great quality, durability, for a very reasonable price. Keep putting out great quality, and I will continue buying more and we can make amazing memories together.

So far so good-- this 4000 reel has been fishing almost daily all summer and early fall without a hitch. During the time I've had this, I've had both a Penn Pursuit IV and a KastKing Megatron break on me. Still using this and a Megatron, but the Spartacus feels a bit smoother to me. Has caught a ton of large bass and Pike, been dropped off my kayak a few times, and just keeps working! Can't beat it for the price!

Okie dokie, after unboxing I thought I was going to return it because the bail was really tight and sort of got stuck or wanted to hang. I decided to give it a go anyway and stuck it on a 6ft6in rod, loaded it with 10 lb braided line with about a 10ft flourocarbon leader, also 10lb, and this thing cast a mile. It is smooth, silent as can be, and the bail isn't that bad afterall. clicks over pretty easy once on the rod and all loaded. I took it kayak fishing and tried it with several different lures. Even a light weight rooster tail seemed to fly a mile- even in the wind. I ended up letting my kid fish with it most of the day and she didn't have any issues with it even though it was her first time kayak fishing. The kid loved the reel, loved casting with it, decided I no longer needed it or the rod, and has now adopted it and given it a name. Sorry KastKing, but the Spartacus II is now known as...the Green Goblin. UPDATE: I bought a second one of these, loaded it with 12lb RUNCL Merced braid and it still casts a mile. Super smooth and super quiet. I added this one to a KastKing Spartacus II Fishing Rod (super amazing rod- you can see my review on that one) and the combo just looks and performs fantastic. The kid saw the combo and decided to rename it to, " The Green Arrow".

The Spartacus is a great reel, especially for the price. This one is a little on the heavier side but extremely durable as a result. The handle is comfortable and smooth. I was impressed with the performance and casting ability of the reel. I definitely think KastKing makes a solid product and would recommend this reel.
