This will make my 6th Kastking reel purchase. I paid the full asking price and KK hasn't ever solicited my opinion on any of the purchases I've made. I bought this reel wanting a 7 ft rig that would cast and handle light weight jigs worms and plastics. The Crixus combos just couldn't cast a small Rebel grasshopper, or a 1/16oz jig more than 30 ft without being adjusted right on the edge of nesting, and if anything was off just a little bit with my cast I was reaching for a backup. I had trusted KK with a little of my money and been pretty happy with the products so naturally when I started looking for a upgrade I looked at KKs offerings first. Not sure why I made such a big keep but I'm happy so far. This thing is smooth as silk. 1/16 jig heads on a ML 7' rod go out to 50 feet effortlessly. Overhead casting has been my Achilles heel, but no problems with the MG12. So far I've only had 1 minor tangle with a snag on a high weed behind me while bank fishing. If I were using any other baitcaster I own a knife would have been the remedy. I was able to sort it out in less than a minute and have yet to restring it in 4 trips. Will update if I find a negative, but at this point the only negative is lack of reviews by independent creditable reviewers and price, but if I get 3 years out of it that negitve will be a positive.

I don’t dislike the reel but i think there is room for improvement. I originally bot this reel and paired it with a 7’11 heavy rod for glide baits and it missed the mark so I swapped it it with a curado 200 and put it with a 7’6” med heavy I use for shallow divers and it works. The only thing is I feel like at the price point it makes more sense to go with a bit cheaper reel ie curado 200 or Jonny morris sig series that is more versatile. I feel like the other 2 reels no matter what I have wanted to do with them they were able to handle the job a bit better. If you have a set plan for the reel and it’s lighter more precise cast i think it’s great for the job.

Just received the new KastKing Mg12 Elite right handed bait casting reel. First impression was "man this thing is light". I spooled it up and tied on some different weighted lures to test out the casting. Man, what versatile reel. Casting is very smooth and I always worry about nesting with lighter lures on my other bait casters. The MG12 Elite is spot on the best bait casting reel I own and well worth the price tag. The braking system allowed me to throw a lighter lure that I can normally cast with a bait caster. This opens up the possibilities for my personal fishing. I have Shimano MGl reel which cast like beast .. that cost over 450. This reel is better hands down even cast better. Only thing I don't like about it . Well I'm not to sure is the speed. I prefer slower reel like 6.2.. It is was 6.2 or 5 2 this reel would be out this world. But the reel is still 5 star. I just prefer slower speed..
