I've purchased 5 different Kastking rod and reel combos this year. I became a huge fan because the quality seemed really great, especially on the reels. This combo was no different and I loved using it but I went to set the hook yesterday and the rod snapped into multiple pieces. I have only had it for about 2.5 months and have used it quite a bit but I store it in a rod sleeve and don't abuse it so I'm baffled as to why it would break while not under incredible stress or abuse. I haven't reached out to them to see if they'll warranty it or not but I doubt it. I'll report back if they do. Great combo for the price, extremely lightweight the 7:1:1 ratio makes it perfect for retrieves. twitch action of the rod is nice hasn’t snapped. Casts great as it was my first baitcaster it was easy to get the feel for it. Only downside is that the logos on the reel wipe off

The combo looks even more beautiful in person than in the pictures, which is rare. I almost don't want to mess it up by using it! lol The reel is pretty smooth. I will enjoy using it. I got the set with the spinning rod combo and the baitcaster combo.

Returned this immediately. I’ve fished my entire life and would recommend going with something like an Abu Garcia Max X combo instead. Don’t let the colors fool you. The rod looks great, but it literally snapped in half without even casting. I hadn’t put any real stress on it at all. The reel also feels extremely cheap. Usually with combo bundles either the rod or the reel ends up being decent, but in this case both felt low quality. I contacted the company to see if they could send just the top section of the rod. They asked for pictures, then waited two days just to tell me to go through Amazon instead. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this combo ... show more
