  • Fantastic! Just what I was looking for!
Size: 16"x17" Style: Quick Release Axle
Fantastic! Just what I was looking for! I'm a petite woman caring for an elderly parent and I'm trying to keep her as active as possible but going to the movies or a social function can be tedious and time consuming with just a walker. My mother gets short of breath and fatigued easily. I've been so worried about getting a wheelchair and not being able to carry or fold it and it not fitting in our cars. This wheelchair is so light and easy to open and close that my 10 year old son likes to take wheelchair duty. It's easy to lift and carry and folds small enough to fit in all our trunks, including my husband's Corvette. Not that she rides in the Corvette, but it gives you an idea of how compact it is. We make sure she doesn't stay in it, she transfers to a regular chair and uses the walker for shorter distances. This wheelchair is improving her quality of life by allowing her to go out more and not worry about "all that walking". It is a bit pricey but TOTALLY worth it! Highly! Recommend! Addendum: In regards to some reviewers saying it's small, I did go with the smaller version and was worried because my mother is very bottom heavy (she use to weigh 275 lbs but has lost 💯) but I wanted the wheelchair as small and light as possibl. She fits perfectly. It looks small but the seat sling contours down nicely. There is a wider version to choose if you need. This chair is great for transport. If you're looking for something for more long term sitting and sedentary living, then this chair may not be for you. ... show more

  • My brother: “Almost makes me want to be crippled so I can have one of these”.
Size: 16"x17" Style: Quick Release Axle
I came to Amazon to buy a cheap $100 wheelchair for my dad but saw this model and decided to splurge since my dad is so awesome. Chair exceeded my expectations. It is very comfortable and lightweight but built like a tank. This is not your nursing home unit. It is minimalistic yet fully functional. The wheels roll smoothly without slop. The seat and backrest are very comfortable. Although the chair is on the small side, it fitted him perfectly because he is only 100 pounds. The arm rests are not removable, although this is not a feature he needs. The arm rest padding is fairly firm, not in a bad way. This chair is so well built I think it will be around to pass on to future generations. ... show more

  • A nice wheelchair, but very small...
Size: 16"x17" Style: Quick Release Axle
While the build quality and design of this chair are very nice, making an ideal travel chair, this is absolutely not built for “average size” adult males. Since I am quite lean, I fit in it (laterally)but am somewhat scrunched up. So unless you are shorter than 5’8”, and weigh less than 125 lbs, look elsewhere for an “everyday chair”. Again, as a travel chair, it is perfect: due to the fact that it is only 19 lbs, and folds in two ways, it fits in any trunk, and can be lifted in and out with ease. As this chair is almost three times the price of my “everyday chair”, which is far more comfortable and convertible, it is a difficult purchase to validate. ... show more

  • Small chair.
Size: 16"x17" Style: Quick Release Axle
The chair appears to be well constructed. I had thought I would be able to lock and un-lock the brakes utilizing the brake controls on the handles- these can be used to brake the chair but you can not use them to lock the brakes. Also the chair has absolutely no provisions for any adjustments - you get it the way it was made with no provisions for change. Another chair I have allows the user to change the height of the chair. This chair does not. The smaller wheels make the chair sit a little uncomfortably low - according to my wife, who is the user. I may check on obtaining larger wheels. Check it out closely before you purchase. The lighter weight is nice though. ... show more

  • Well designed, rugged, comfortable and nimble
Size: 16"x17" Style: Quick Release Axle
I bought the 16" wheelchair with removeable wheels. I saved about $100 by purchasing it reboxed from the Amazon warehouse in "Like New" condition. The packaging looked like it had been resealed but everything inside the box was perfect. So far I am very pleased. I am 63 years old, right above the knee amputee, fairly fit, weigh about 180 lbs and I'm 5'9". I bought this wheelchair to keep in my SUV so that I had it handy whenever I go travelling or if I need it at work. The 16" width works well for me but again, I am fairly trim and active. The wheels are somewhat smaller than I am used to but they are smooth and so turn as easily as my regular wheelchair. The wheelchair is very easy to collapse and reopen and, when it's collapsed is easy for me to handle and lift even without my prosthesis, standing on one leg and doing my best to disregard gravity. The wheels are very easily removed and replaced and it can be done very quickly. I doubt I will use this feature a lot since I have room to store the wheelchair in my SUV with the wheels attached. The armrests are not adjustable which I thought may be a problem but they are the right height for me. The grips at the front of the armrests are molded and feature extrusions that are helpful when transfering to a chair. The frame features quality craftsmanship and joints are welded and appear to be strong. I hardly ever use footrests but I tried them out to see. They were a little tricky to get on but they were comfortable and my knees were at a normal height. I would imagine people who often use footrests would get used to installing them quickly. The front wheel brake handles can be extended providing more leverage for those who might lack the strength to operate them in the normal position. The rear brake handles do not lock but it would be simple for a helper to reach down a little to operate them from the front. The ergonomic structure of the frame provides a lot of comfort and does make a difference for me, especially as it applies to posture. I found the cushioning on the seat a little thin for me and added a 2" cushion. Overall I would say it is good value especially since I was able to get a reduced price due to the repackaging. ... show more
