I did a lot of research, there is a lot to take in. Finally decided on this chair because it has removable leg rests, quick release wheels, folds down small, lightweight, has flip up arm rests that adjust, other adjustability and it is sharp looking. It does meet all the criteria. First Impressions *It came out of the box with no argument, voila! *It's not quite as flashy as some of the Karman chairs, (I love the red), but it's not shy and it is a really nice looking chair. *Leg rests pop on and off easily with a release handle - a comfortable angle here for the legs - I like the foot straps quite a bit, but uncertain about the actual foot rests themselves. *The fact that I took it out of the box myself was a great thing! *Arm rests are great, very comfortable shape and length, the curvature allows more of a straight arm drop for self propulsion - excellent, if we can get height right. *Side guards are really nice, should stop some of the slinging up to the chair from wheels, they curve outward a bit over the wheel under the arm rest, more like a fender - very different. *The handles for the attendant use are nice and my husband likes the height of them, as well as the angle. * Wheel locks are good, I like that the handle flips out of the way. *Seat cushion is a bit of a joke - very thin, sits only in middle of the seat which means those metal rails on the side of the seat are now on your hips. I knew I would need another cushion anyway. *** Adjustment problems! For me the seat needs to be lower, the arm rests are too high, etc. The curvy sideguard seems to rub my forearm when I propel. *This chair does not come standard with anti tippers, though I would have sworn Karman said it did, sigh - that is a bummer. It does have little step helpers for using a foot to aid with bumps and curbs - those are handy. Overall the chair has a lot more composite/plastic parts than I thought. In all the specs, sales videos, etc it was not mentioned that a major component was not made of aluminum. It's a narrow chair, I like that - but some might not. I've rented chairs for years and always the standard 18" and had lots of extra room, but it was time to get my own and I got measured properly. I measured out at 16, but was more comfy at 17" - this is an 18", but frankly is not as wide as others in the past. It's a snug 18" and that suits me. *******Adjustability is very limited without purchasing more parts. If we lower the seat - as in raise rear wheels, the castors cannot be adjusted accordingly without buying new castors and forks. The entire chair seems to be aimed at adjustments towards a taller or larger person, rather than smaller. *Arm rests do not lower, foot rests can't come up any higher, etc After two days of studying on the thing, I am totally and completely unimpressed. Amazon got it here quickly and thanks for picking it up just as fast. ... show more

  • Good chair, but Replacement Parts Are Nowhere to Be Found
Color: Pearl Silver Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Swing Away Footrest
I'll start by saying what I like about this chair. It is well-built and lightweight. My previous chair was heavy and uncomfortable, hurting my back. This chair relieves that strain and is lighter, which makes transporting easier. It has some very well thought out touches, such as rear step-levers that make it easy for someone pushing you to assist you up a step or ledge. It has adjustable armrest height. And additionally the entire armrest can also flip-up and out of the way which has come in very handy in some situations. The cushions are anti-bacterial as well, and the entire chair is very well designed. NOW HERE IS THE MAIN ISSUE: This chair is *very* difficult to find replacement parts for! This may not seem like a big thing at first, but as you use the chair over time, the armrests will wear, and things will become loose and wear down with time, and you will want / need to have them replaced. This is when you will discover as I have, that there is no real place to buy any replacement parts for this chair. I have been to Karman Healthcare's website. They show you all the parts, and there is indeed a "shopping cart" at the top-right, however you will find that there is no way to actually add any of those parts to your cart! I have contacted them twice via the e-mail link (their contact form doesn't actually work!) and after two and a half-weeks received a response telling me to contact them to order! What was I doing before? Day-dreaming?! I also visited all of their reseller sites (of which Amazon is one) They sell the chairs, but not the parts, To me it seems like overkill to have to buy another complete chair just for the parts. In-fact the only place I have found to buy some (not all) of the replacement parts is eBay, and the prices are absurd! So in closing, I like the chair itself, but when things need to be replaced, it becomes a real pain indeed. Keep that in mind. ... show more

  • Decent chair but seat cover missing
Color: Pearl Silver Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Swing Away Footrest
I bought this chair for my sister who had sent me the dimensions. First thing is that I did not receive the seat cover along with the chair. Secondly, the width is a little on the shorter side. My sister had an 18 inch wide wheelchair before this one and was perfect, so I bought the 18 inch width chair for her. But unfortunately, this chair was around an inch tighter for her if used with a thick seat cushion. I should have brought the one with 20 inch width instead. For now, she is using the chair without the thick cushion and is able to make do with it. But she still doesnt have the seat cover that is supposed to come with the chair itself. ... show more
