Description

Extended version of Ridley Scott's cult sci-fi classic. In LA in 2019, ex-cop Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is hired to track down and kill a group of androids, known as replicants, who have escaped from a satellite colony and travelled to Earth illegally. As two of the AWOL replicants (Rutger Hauer and Daryl Hannah) seek refuge in a geneticist's house, Deckard takes his investigation to their makers, the Tyrell Corporation, where he falls in love with Rachael (Sean Young), herself an android, but with a memory chip that convinces her she is human.

  • Iffy
The 4k is glorious most of the time. However, this media stopped occasionally, the sound was not synched up at times and whoever put this disc together was pretty sloppy. When it worked it was great. However, it stopped 4 times...but came back after 10-30 seconds

  • The final cut (?) of a great film.
I had no problem playing this BD Feature disk, with 4 commentaries. I'm not sure the bit of extra unicorn footage makes a better film, but it is a beautiful presentation. The second disk, the documentary, wouldn't play on my USA player. Some issue about the "color" which was weird. Honestly, this "new cut" really depends on how much you love the film. I've never much cared if Deckard is a replicant or not, I'm just glad the VO and happy ending are gone. Should you buy this? If you have the director's cut, I'd say you already have a great film. If you've watched the new cut on line, then you know what you're missing -- a few longer cuts. The script isn't changed. Be aware that the documentary, or either disk, are not not "region free". ... show more

  • Blade Runner Blu Ray- a good Blu Ray transfer!
I won't review or ramble on about the movies, it has been 35 years since the original Blade Runner, and most know what the movies are about. I will comment, however, about the quality of the Blu Ray transfer of the movie - in Blu Ray, it is very clear and a nice upgrade from the DD - I was impressed by how crisp, clear the Blu Ray transfer was. I viewed it on a 65" Panasonic VT60 Plasma, and it was very nice. Not all Blu Ray transfers of older movies fare as well. Note this movie was shot in 2:35:1, so the transfer didn't do anything about the "watch band" appearance on your 16x9 screen :-( but hey, that is a common thing. I really like the 1:85:1 Anamorphic widescreen format for home movies but we can't have it all! What is a bonus is that after almost 35 years, I STILL enjoy the movie. And more importantly, so do my 18 year old boys - which says a lot about how well done this movie was - it is very entertaining. I saw the original first movie in the theaters when it first came out, and I am still entertained from beginning to end. So here we have a timeless movie which is still entertaining today, and one where the Blu Ray transfer allows you to watch it in crystal clear HD. Awesome. 5 stars all the way!!! Thanks for reading. ... show more

  • IMO the story still holds up pretty well, even today
Of course this Sci-Fi classic belongs in every fan's movie collection. IMO the story still holds up pretty well, even today. Something had given me the impression, this disk would feature or include the version with audio narration by Harrison's character. But such is not the case. Since I really like that version of the audio track, it's exclusion is my only complaint. Behind the scenes interviews indicate this is Ridley Scott's favorite version of the film. I suppose if only one version was to be released on this blu-ray, it's most logical to go with the one its creator prefers : ) ... show more

  • Good reason to buy Blu-ray player
I waited 28 years for this! The Blu-ray "Final Cut" edition is worth every penny. Unless of course you just don't like "Blade Runner". The re-mastered 5.1 sound track it like I imagined it should have been in 1982. Fortunately, it was originaly recorded multichannel and mixed down to stereo for the theatrical realease. The video transfer to digital was directly from the negatives with the result that the Blu-ray is better than what you would have seen in the theater. One might be distracted by anachronisms: The setting is LA in 2019. There are no cell phones, iPhones, GPS devices and all the screens are CRT's that might have come from an Apple II. On the other hand by 2019 we're not likely to be emigrating off-world with our genetically manufactured puppets. For me it works to let this be an alternate/parralell universe scenario. ... show more

  • Ridley Scott's Image of 2019, Remastered
I had only seen this movie once or twice and I don't remember it being this visually striking. Absolutely must-have BR for the science fiction junkie. This version brings the 80's classic, a true achievement of cinematography, up to modern HD spec. Nit pickers will notice some flaws but I think they did a terrific job of revitalizing this masterpiece. We probably won't see replicants or flying cars in the near future, but it's still fun to look at. ... show more

  • Blade Runner the F [Blu-Ray]
I won't rehash everything that has been said about this movie. It's just great! My only nitpick on this particular product/version of it is that Amazon's product description is only half correct. The movie is Region ALL, BUT the second disc (which I was looking forward to seeing is region 2! So, be forwarned and Amazon, please update this information into the product description.[[ASIN:B000VS20M2 Blade Runner the F [Blu-ray] ... show more
