The manufacturer instructions recommend weekly cleaning, the paint peeled off first time. I am very gentle. Otherwise the fountain is what I was looking for: small tabletop style, quiet pump, peaceful water flow.

I'm goving it 5 stars because i feel its exactly as advertised, works well, good for the price and i like it. I do have some minor nits though that I'll share: 1. A bit hard to fill without spilling. You have to learn the level that works as it's easy to over fill and get a mess. Although it suggests filling from the back i recommend filling from the front once you figure out the level as its just easier. 2. Dries out fast, no auto shut off. I live in a dry climate...it loses enough water it needs a refill within 2 days or sooner. I don't really dare leave it plugged in overnight or the motor will keep running dry and that's not good at all. I wish the fill basin was a bit easier accessed from the back and that it shut off when too low. 3. I wish it had multiple LEDs and more diffuse. The one it does have is only in the bottom and pretty bright if you set the fountain below eye level. 4. I highly recommend using filtered water as the dark color and texture picks up hardwater minerals really well. Other than that its great ambience for my home office and i really do like it a lot! Works great, nice fall and sounds wonderful.

I know how these little desk fountains work. If you aren't careful the motor can get burnt out trying to move water when there isn't any there. I've had fountains in the past that have survived a little while without water but pretty much they will always die eventually. Knowing this I was super careful to fill this daily... but between the record breaking heat wave and the cat deciding it was her personal fountain... it got below the water line at some point and I didn't see it in time. Before I could catch it the thing was dead. It's now a lovely dry paperweight that I enjoyed for a brief time. Would not buy again.

This beautiful tabletop fountain is very calming to watch and listen to, and I really love the soft glowing lights. The one issue I have with this, and the reason for deducting two stars, is that it does not have an auto shut-off feature if the fountain runs out of water. Water evaporates from this fountain quickly, especially in the winter months, so if you forget to check the water and keep it filled at all times, the fountain will keep running, and the motor will burn out as soon as it gets dry. I'm very surprised they chose not to add this important feature to ensure the longevity of the fountain. It's not necessarily a dealbreaker; just remember to check the water levels and refill as needed daily.
