These climbing sticks feel exceptionally sturdy and secure once they are attached to the tree. Stability is one of the most important factors for saddle hunting equipment, and these inspire confidence when climbing and transitioning onto a platform. My favorite feature is the way the steps curve outward away from the tree. This creates noticeably more room for your feet, especially if you wear larger boots. Instead of constantly hitting your toes against the tree while climbing, your feet have better clearance and a more natural position on each step. It is a small design detail that makes a big difference in comfort and usability. The only aspect that may not work for every hunter is the way the sticks connect together for transport. The nesting or attachment system is convenient if you prefer carrying all of your sticks as one compact bundle. However, I use a pack setup that carries two sticks on each side, so a system designed around connecting all the sticks together is not as useful for my preferred method. Depending on the pack and carry style you use, this could either be a major advantage or something you may need to work around. Overall, these are excellent climbing sticks with a very solid feel, secure tree attachment, and outstanding foot clearance. I would recommend them, especially for hunters with larger feet or anyone tired of their boots constantly contacting the tree while climbing.

These upgraded climbing sticks are very comfortably spaced for easy climbing. The step spacing is 17 inches which may be a lot for some, but it reduces the number of sticks you need to haul into the woods. Made of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum, with wide serrated steps for secure footing even in mud and rain. They attach easy to various size trees with deep vee cleats with serrations to bite into the bark. Cinch straps secure the stick and prevent movement. You can space the sticks apart in whatever distance is comfortable for you, I would suggest 15-17 inches as best. They are lightweight ( 5.53 pounds) making backpacking easy, are very durable and will last many seasons. At $109.99 its a price that is hard to beat for this kind of quality and safety, I RECOMMEND.

First the good. These are nice and light. I like the fact they include an already mounted strap on one of them for securing the four of them together while traveling. I've had other sticks which used different methods and each has their own flaws. But this pair having that strap is the best and won't loosen up while walking in with them. I love the fact they fold for even easier traveling. They feel good in your hand but I have a slight problem with the finish. Look at my pics. On several sticks, the holes drilled for attaching the feet weren't cleaned after machining. They left burrs on the back side. This made it very difficult to install the nuts. You can see just how far I could get some of them down. They didn't even touch the stick. This definitely reduces the capacity in a negative way. The only true solution is to remove the nut and de-burr the hole. What a PITA. For the amount of money these sticks are, there shouldn't be any required alterations on my end. But there were. I don't think they are worth the asking price for this level of quality.

I saddle hunt a lot on public land and most of the time I have to pack everything into my site. The Kalkal sticks are truly an upgrade from the fixed step. Everything is included to get you climbing the tree of your choice. The sticks are solid. They are constructed of aluminum. To complete the build of the sticks, it only requires the securing of the standoffs with the supplied bolts. The only issue I had was that one of the drilled holes for the standoff was a little off center. I managed to get it installed but it was a little stiff getting it tight. The feet of the sticks fold to provide a nice low profile. When folded the sticks are about 21.5 inches long. They can easily be strapped to the front of my backpack. With the steps unfolded, you will have an aggressive 10.5 inch wide step. The steps angle away from the tree trunk which is great. Both the top and bottom steps are foldable. The distance between the bottom and the top step is about 15 inches. As always, weight is important. The pack of four sticks weigh in at 10lbs. That's a little heavier than I hoped. Of the four sticks, one of the sticks has an attached strap to secure all the sticks for travel. The sticks are stacked one on top of the other and the attached strap is wrapped around all four and secured. I like the idea, but the sticks can still slide apart even if secured really tight or if lifted by one stick. Overall, a good set of stick and a good price point.

I have been using a few different climbing sticks this year for the deer hunt, and these are so far my favorite, for a couple of reasons. They feel lighter than the other similar sticks that I've used, which is my #1 reason. They feel very sturdy while climbing on them, they grip the tree trunk very tightly, and make the ascent and descent very easy and comfortable and easy. The initial assembly is much easier than the other climbing sticks, too, you really don't need any additional tools than what it comes with, and the design is super smart, when installing the tree grips, the nut fits tightly in between a groove so they don't turn on you, and you just need to tighten the bolt. They come with a buckle to help hold them together when packing them in, which is super convenient, although I wish it came with buckles, because depending on which pack I use, I will put 2 on one side, and 2 on the other, and an additional buckle would be nice to hold both sets together. When packing all 4 sticks together, the buckle does hold them very well, though, and makes packing and storage much more convenient. The price is actually really good compared to others that I've seen on Amazon (and other sites as well), so it is a great value. My only complaint is that I wish the straps were longer. I have had to move to less desirable trees several times because the straps wouldn't fit around the trees that I wanted to use.

These climbing sticks are very sturdy. They strapped securely to the trunk of the tree and were fairly easy to setup. They're easy enough to climb up, good grip / foot hold. Downside they're a little heavy, not terrible and not really any worse than other sticks I've used before. That being said they are more compact than other climbing sticks I've used. Overall these are well made and sturdy climbing sticks. Combine them with the Kalkal hang on tree stand and you have a great setup for hunting

Kalkal Upgraded Hunting Climbing Sticks These tree climbing sticks are very convenient. They are fairly light weight, and easy to set up. They definateley assist well with climbing. I actually had the previous model, so I was able to do a comparison . The build quality on these new sticks is obviously superior.. They are also a bit more compact, and bundle together easier; which is good for gear you'll likely be carrying back and forth with you on trips. They are just as easy and convenient to use as the previous model. Obvious improvements so clearly .. 4 stars! Explaining my rating system: 5 - a superior product - I would recommend 4 - above average – a great choice 3 - average – what one might generally expect 2 - below average – I would advise seeking an alternative 1- Horrible – a waste of your valuable money - avoid if at all possible
