Description

The HP-1 is an over-ear studio headphone designed for mixing and QC. With 3 selectable voicings, the HP-1 gives you a neutral, accurate view of your mix, and also allows you to check how your work will sound on the most popular headphones in use today. With the press of a button, you can switch between the three different voicings: Studio Mode delivers crisp, accurate sound that can be trusted to translate to the widest variety of playback systems. Consumer Mode mimics headphones sold alongside smartphones and tablets. The tuning is natural, balanced, and unobtrusive. Bass Heavy Mode is a fun voicing similar to headphones that are popular with hip-hop fans and producers. Quality-of-life features like Bluetooth, noise cancelling, and 40 hours of battery life make the HP-1 a fantastic all-around headphone.

  • Surprisingly good for checking mixes and any other audio I work on away from the studio.
Unexpectedly above average. Surprisingly good for checking mixes and any other audio I work on away from the studio. Good for non critical pleasure listening. I have high end Sennheiser, Slate closed back and planars, am IK Arc Near fire use with various cans but still use this often for work. Consistent build quality. I've sent a few pairs to folks I work with so that I know they'll hear what I hear. ... show more

  • DAZZLING AUDIO but a couple quirks
When wired, these sound amazing. Bluetooth is definitely worse quality than wired (not the headphones' fault at all, I think that's just bluetooth). All 3 settings are great and I love to have the studio mode. I'm going to update this review as time goes on (if I remember). UPDATE: I figured out how to get good (not noisy) audio out of my phone. A USB-C to aux cable like this one (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DP9QW8DY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) helps, and then turn your phone's volume to MAX and just use the headphones' volume controls. That fixed it for me. That said, I still get better audio quality on a computer. Day 1: Bad: - Kinda a me issue but my ears touch the inside of the cups, and the band is too tight for long periods, so I got a headache and the outside of my ear ached. I'm going to try gently stretching it overnight. It might just need time to break in. - My phone can't drive these with an aux-to-aux cable. I get this weird loud noise every time a sound plays. I'm going to try a usb-c to aux cable next (to lay on my bed and melt at the crispy, clear sound). Given the headphones power themselves, I'm not sure why my phone can't power it with just aux. - Not sure about the ANC yet. It works but it didn't immediately impress me. - The aux cable it comes with is really short. Good: - These things sound INCREDIBLE. I recommend listening to Misty Mountains by Peter Hollens. I audibly gasped a couple times because I heard detail I'd never notice otherwise. I felt like I could picture his lips moving as he sang it. I heard him pronounce a 'p' sound and gasped again because of how insanely clear it was. It was like he was next to me. - The controls are great. They didn't slack on buttons, thank god. Pausing, switching mix modes, volume, skipping, anc, and bluetooth are all very easy to do. - Bluetooth connects quickly and seamlessly. Pairing was dead simple. - The voice in the headset that tells you what mode you're in and if ANC is on and such isn't annoying. I don't mind it at all. - Comes with a case, aux cable (though it's too short), and a usb-c cord. Overall, these are great. Music just sounds remarkable through them. Day 5: They still hurt my ears. I've been stretching them every night. Might have to return em. Day 10+: I've been stretching them every night and they're much more comfortable. Just put them on something a bit wider than your head every night. Also, try massaging the ear cups to get them a bit thicker. You can always stuff a little bit of paper under the cups to make them a bit higher, but you'll have to stretch them extra to make that comfortable. Also, see above. I figured out how to use these wires with my phone! Updated to 5 stars. ... show more

  • Get a pair for yourself
These headphones are very nice when it comes to mixing. The studio mode is great. The two other reference modes are good to have when trying to balance out your frequency levels.

  • Sound is good
Sound is good… I use them to mix while living in a studio apartment.

  • A great audio tool, easily worth the cost.
Suprisingly good in Studio Mode for checking mixes, as well as just plain listening. Bought 3 more and sent them to current collaborators.
