I spent the weekend rehearsing with this and comparing it to student, intermediate, and professional flutes. A Silver Powell Sonare with 9k Aurumite Headjoint (upgraded Int.), Gold Plated over Silver Powell Sonare (int.), and a Powell 14k Ruby Aurumite (pro). This flute is worlds above my Armstrong silver plated student model. It plays very well and has a warmer feel and sound. It would be an amazing first flute for a beginner. The first thing that would need upgrading after a few years is the headjoint. It’s just a basic cut playing similarly to an Intermediate Sonare headjoint. A hand cut headjoint and one with Adler wings as well would leave this one in the dust in terms of responsiveness and tone. I played a Powell 9k Aurumite Soloist cut with wings, a Lafin 85/15 with wings, and a Powell 14k Aurumite Philharmonic cut without wings on this flute body and they all sounded great together as a possible “matching” option for the Gold Plated headjoints with the lots of bang for the buck with only the headjoint upgraded. Still I was surprised how well it played on its own and would definitely recommend this as a first flute. It’s fun and stunning.

I gave this to my daughter as a Christmas gift since she is in bad need of a new flute and she has always wanted a rose gold flute. She opened it on Christmas Day and was ecstatic. She started playing it and it played real well according to her. The sound was very nice and the keys were responsive. However, just this week she started playing a piece with a low C and she can't get the low C to play. She can hit all the notes except for the low C. Turns out the flute has a leak. When she presses the fingering for the low C, one key has a gap that's why she can't hit the low C. We have brought it already to someone who knows how to fix flutes and saxophones and he re-aligned it but the gap is still there. I don't know if it will ever get fixed. Too bad because she really liked this flute.

Over all the flute is a pretty good flute but not for beginners. I was super excited and it sounded good until I went to tune it, and it was way out of tune for the flute itself the flute is sharp so you have to pull the mouth piece out alot just to get the right sound.

This flute is shiny and pretty and absolutely not functional. I bought this for my daughter when she was learning and by the end of the year she was ready to give to because she thought she was a horrible flute player. I can't believe I never tried it out myself until the end. Several notes won't play. No sound at all. She's now playing my Bundy and should have been all along.
