  • So far so good
Style: Intermediate Pattern: Flute
I was skeptical about buying this flute, and was torn between this one and another. So far I’ve been very pleased with it. I’m a complete beginner, I have been practicing daily with this for going on 6 weeks. So far it’s been flawless mechanically and sounds great. I really have no complaints with it. ... show more

  • Great Flute, Awesome customer service and well built
Style: Student Pattern: Flute
Okay is this a $1000 or a $5000 dollar flute no.... but its a damn good flute for the money i have tried many different cheap flutes out there and they all have issues... I have seen a review by wiki that states this is there number one pick down to there 5th pick saying it has air leaking issues... well let me tell you mine came with a little blemish on one of the keys and Jean Paul service was more then outstanding they shipped me a new one right away took a few days to get here but arrived as promised. and the finish was top notch. nothing wrong with it.. and about air leaks this flute is so tight i know i am not loosing any air. it plays beautiful a friend of mine which is a professional flute player other then the nickle finish could not believe i payed under $200.00 for it. when she came over she ended up playing mine for the time she was hear i even tried to see if she would trade her $6000 flute for it she laughed and then gave mine back. but she loved the workmanship when i told her it was built over seas she couldn't believe it. she was a little upset at me for not buying american made product. i told her hey i was going to give them a try and that i expressed my concern to the company that we need it made over here for it to be made in the USA. but he did insure me that they were all inspected before they ship them out... I also found out that be careful about amazon they have been sending returned flutes back out to new customers the shipper has talked with them and it seems amazon is not listing so carefully inspect your flute and call the company not amazon and they will take care of you no questions asked. because of this the product has gotten some bad reviews so i stress to all new buyers like me let the company get you fixed up if you have an issue before posting a review... because a review should be on everything including customer service and quality of product. if they take care of you and the instrument is performing then make sure your honest in what happen and that it got fixed. I do recommend this product to any student or beginning player the price is right and the flute makes music you buy a bad instrument trying to save money then who ever is going to play the instrument will not enjoy the learning process. ... show more

  • Sounds good and customer service outstanding
Style: Student Pattern: Flute
I'm a 70 year-old man who decided to learn the flute. The price point of this flute seemed to be about right for ones that sounded good. From the reviews of this and other brands, this seemed like the best quality for the money and the seller seemed to be above-board. Boy, did I hit the jackpot with those two items. Even though I am a rank beginner, I was able to produce notes that made a pretty good imitation of music. With a little practice, they would probably grow into real music, but I can already see the improvement. The customer service is outstanding. The advertisement said it came with some flute grease, but there was none in my case. I emailed Jean Paul and they sent some out right away. After a couple of months, it seemed that it was getting harder to get a good sound out of the lower end keys. I emailed Jean Paul again and they asked for a video to show and tell the problem. I complied and they agreed to take the instrument back and adjust it. They did and even sent me a video of the tech playing my flute to show that everything was adjusted. No charge on any of that. So, the instrument is good, the customer service is more than good and the price is good. I can't speak to other brands, but after doing a lot of research and having had the personal experience I did, I can only sing the praises of this flute and Jean Paul. Well, maybe it is better for all concerned if I merely type the praises because my singing might drive customers away. ... show more

  • A solid flute for beginners
Style: Intermediate Pattern: Flute
I haven't played the flute in nearly 50 years. It was something I picked up during my college days. I missed playing one and bought the Jean Paul flute. I will admit, I am rusty at it. But, it is slowly coming back to me. There are differences with my college Gemeinhardt , and perhaps my lost skills. The action seems a bit sluggish but notes are clear and closed holes do not leak. The mouth aperture seems to take a bit of getting use to. But again, I'm calling on skills and memories from a long time ago. As for comments about the finish wearing, keys sticking and other listed problems; I'm sure this occurs but it is worth keeping in mind, these problems are mostly with young beginners. The greater care given to any instrument will help to prolong its life. If you seek "perfect," you need to spend more. A lot more. Right now, I am happy relearning this instrument. ... show more
