  • It's looks beautiful
I am very impressed with how this looks based on the price! It looks just as good as the high end big brand flutes! Purchased for my son who is in 10th grade marching band and has been being urged for a while now to upgrade to a more advanced flute due to his skill on the student. We just couldn't afford the prices of the main models everyone suggested. I came across this listing here and saw several reviews saying they're professionals or long time flutists and decided if they say it's good, we'll try it. It's an amazing price and sounds beautiful. It has 1 very small blemish near the head (in pic) but it's nothing I'd concider sending it back over. Assuming when it was dipped maybe that's where the grip was. Doesn't look like tarnish, more of a smudge. Pads look good and all fit well when pushed down. It came with the plugs pre-inserted in the key holes, now to figure out how to remove them lol. Gloves, cleaning rod and cloth, plus what I'm assuming maybe the oil in the small white container included as well. Case is gorgeous too! Not hard plastic like other low end flutes but feels like leather (may not be actual but feels like). Thank you Hisonic for making a good quality flute at a low reasonable cost! Now to see what his band director thinks of it this week ... ... show more

  • Nice Flute (Now with 13 years later add-on)
Let's face it. This flute isn't going to help you win flute solo competitions. This flute isn't going to be the one you rely on for that really big professional concert. But this flute packs quite a bit of punch at the modest price that it is sold for. The tone is a little mellow considering that it isn't really made of the usual materials of sterling silver, but it plays in tune at all registers, provided you are careful with how you play it. The instrument is fairly nimble to play, and unless you are trying to go professional, should be enough to teach you a few new tricks and techniques for the flute. If you are wondering if the flute is an interesting instrument for your to play, then I recommend trying this one out at the very least before you sink some serious money for a serious flute. Serious players should look elsewhere, but for the rest of us, this one is good enough. 2021 Edit: Okay it's been 13 years since I had this flute (2008), and a lot has changed, the most important is the way that I play (I'm falling into the category of "serious players" now). The flute itself holds out relatively well throughout the years while being lightly played after the first 2+ years of intensive playing. The key springs are definitely stiffer than the more pricey flutes, which means that the light touch that is desired does not work as well for this flute. At this age, an overhaul is probably necessary, but it is not cost effective to do so. The overall acoustics of the flute is good enough to even play concert C7 and D7, which is saying something, and the mechanism is really quite robust. I still stand by my earlier review -- it is a good enough flute to dip one's toes in, but it cannot be the main flute that one uses if one is "going serious" with it. It might work well enough as a doubler's flute due to the heavier touch that it can take. But that's about it. Please don't buy this thinking that this is the last flute you will own. ... show more

  • Great flute!! Fair price!! Hey, it's worth it. Minor problems though... but easy to solve.
Came brand new and unharmed. Has great sound and a nice feel! I've been playing for a couple of years now and I've been trying to find a flute to step it up. It was totally worth the purchase! The only thing where I would say about the flute is that there's a little tarnish on some areas... but the flute is still very beautiful! The tarnish can be noticed if you hold it up close but not from a little distance. Oh, there were other reviews that mentioned that the F key didn't play... This happened to me, however it was easy to solve. One of the tiny metal rods in the mechanism had slipped of (this made the key go up when unpressed). I took a small screwdriver (doesn't have to be a screwdriver though) and moved the rod to it's place. I knew this because I compared it to my old flute. But yeah, it's not such a reason to return it. It works fine after that! Bottom line is that It's a very great flute for a very good price. I'm satisfied with my purchase. (also I'm addicted to the silver shine) ... show more

  • Played flute many years, frustrating flute to be honest.
In the lower register flute plays fine...but it the upper register it is extremely terribly out of tune thought it was me at first, but then I switched head joints. Now the flute does get a better response to the upper register, and sound. But head joints can be spendy. If you get a flute. Take it to a flute repair person. High notes can have several factors. it can be too sharp for many players. Its a matter of embouchure and air stream. Ect. I am personally on a budget. For that this is a great flute. Its not a terrible flute by any means, It has a bright sound to me, not a dark sound as stated in another review. Just realize that high notes are going to be sharp on this flute. At least for me they were, on this flute. When I added a new head joint it improved. ... show more

  • ... my mind may have to say it's actually really good for what it's priced
I have to say this flute has truly blown my mind may have to say it's actually really good for what it's priced. I would invest in this instrument, it feels great on your fingers and the tone is amazing I've been playing flute for quit some time and all I to say is that this is an amazing horn I don't regret buying it. I play in college band and I my old flute was giving me lots of issue, I did hesitate buys this instrument one bc of the price 2 bc I didn't really know if it was going to sound good and 3 I didn't know if the opens whole was going to be like some type of scam idk but like I said if your looking get something a bit better I would think about it but I wouldn't wait to long bc trust me you might regret not getting it, ... show more
