Much better than I expected at this price point.
This gun cabinet / "safe" far exceeded my expectations. It was delivered fast, was packaged well, and was assembled easily. The finished product is nice and solid. Definitely needs to be secured to a wall. Floor bolting is not really an option. Fireproof? Not really. Perhaps it could resist fire, for a short period of time, but I would not store my pertinent documents in this cabinet. The electronic controls require 4 AA alkaline batteries. Assemly took about an hour. Assembly tip 1: don't tighten the screws until the top and bottom plates are installed. Get most of the screws installed to just short of tight. Once the top and bottom plates are installed, the cabinet is square and all screws can be fully tightened. Assembly tip 2: Have a light handy. Assembling a black box using black screws could be a frustrating experience. I used a flashlight and a battery lantern to help with the assembly process. Assembly tip 3: Most of the weight of this cabinet is in the front due to it containing the locking pins. You will have to secure this cabinet to a wall. Floor anchoring is not an option. It includes4 expanding 'red head' style anchors to secure to a cinderblock wall. If you are securing to stud wall, then you will need to provide your own fasteners. PROS: 1. I purchased this specific model because it had 4 lock pins. Most importantly, it had a top and bottom door pin. Many of the other comparable units that I researched here on Amazon didn't have top and bottom pins. This cabinet locks securely with the distributed pin insertion points. 2. This model fit my needs by offering rifle storage, shotgun storage, pistol storage, ammo storage, case and range bag storage all in a small footprint. 3. Shelf height is adjustable to your storage needs. 4. The finish is nice, even after assembly. It just looks good from the outside. 5. The electronic lock works. Requires 4 AA alkaline batteries. (Only alkaline. Does not work with rechargeable AA batteries.) Set a combination, and it works. The emergency battery access pack is an added bonus but probably not necessary because the physical keys can open the cabinet if needed. CONS: 1. Requires wall anchoring. Floor anchoring not an option. Includes 4 expanding redhead style anchors. Included anchors will not work in drywall or studs. Most of the weight is in the door assembly, which makes this unit front heavy and succeptible to tipping. 2. You will need to purchase extra lighting. The interior of this cabinet is very dark. It has something on the door that could possibly be called a light, but it doesnt' really offer any relief to the abyssal darkness within. Order additional lights. Summary: I am extremely happy with the purchase of this cabinet. While it is made to look like a safe, it is more of a cabinet with a safe like locking system. The 4 pin locking system is more secure than I expected thanks to the top and bottom pins. For such a small footprint, this cabinet offers more storage than I expected. I am very pleased with my purchase of this cabinet that is sort of a safe if anchored properly.

Perhaps I didn't fully read the description. I didn't realize that this needed assembly. On a scale of 1-5, I'd call this assembly between 3 & 4. Fairly difficult. Also, I received no instructions how to change/use the combination lock. Luckily, it has a key. But the product is nice. It can hold 6 guns in my opinion. Plus a shelf for whatever else. Not a bad product for the money.

Solid office depository safe with dual locking and a convenient drop slot I recently got this black steel office safe for handling cash, envelopes, and important documents at work, and it’s been a practical addition. It’s a tall, freestanding unit with a textured black finish that looks professional and holds up well to daily use. It has two main locked compartments plus a dedicated middle drop slot designed for depositing envelopes or cash without opening the full safe. The top section is a smaller locked box secured by a traditional key lock—handy for restricted-access items. The middle area features a hinged drop chute that opens downward so you can drop in deposits quickly; it closes securely afterward. The large bottom compartment is the main storage area, protected by an electronic keypad lock (numeric code with letter options) plus a mechanical handle. The bottom door opens wide and has solid hinges, and the interior is spacious enough for cash boxes, folders, or valuables. Setup was straightforward. The electronic lock is intuitive to program, and there’s a physical key backup for the top section. Difficult, and dangerous assembly process.
What convinced me to buy this safe was the video in the add showing one man putting it together, seemingly easy, in just a few minutes. Assembly of this safe is extremely difficult and dangerous. The door of the safe is extremely heavy compared to the cabinet itself, making the whole safe totally unstable during the assembly process. The holes that the self-tapping screws screw into are very hard to see. I had to use a flashlight just to see them, and while I was trying to line up the holes, the panel was flexing, making it very difficult. To attach the top panel, the front screws have to be tightened from the inside, with the door opened, making it totally unstable, even with the door supported. Because of this, while I was partially inside the cabinet, the whole cabinet toppled over trapping me inside, with the weight of the safe on my right knee. I injured my right knee and left hip. Thankfully, my wife was there to help me out. Understandably, this safe needs to be anchored to the wall, but, you have to put it together first. There-in lies the problem. I can't rate the safe itself because I was never able to complete the assembly.

For a secondary storage option it will work but only after a bit of effort. I didn’t catch that it needs to be assembled, not a deal breaker for me at the price but shipping damage made it impossible to square the frame. This isn’t necessarily on the product but knowing the condition packages are delivered in lately it would be nice to have seen some additional packing precautions besides rigid styrofoam that transfers the force of an impact right into the sheet metal frames. Assembly was average and as annoying as I expected. Having to work up against the sheet metal walls didn’t give enough room for a driver, maybe an offset drill adapter would work well for others assembling this, I couldn’t find mine for the life of me. The finish on the surfaces is fine. Basically a gloss pebbled paint, pretty standard so don’t expect to see your reflection. Don’t expect any real security out of this. It’s a deterrent and closer to a locker or cabinet than it is a safe. The bolts are a bonus but the frame isn’t going to keep anyone out that is determined to get in. If you buy this just assume you are going to need to mount it to the wall to prevent tipping. The door isn’t overly heavy but I can see it pulling the unit over when opened. The door probably accounts for at least half the weight on this. Not heavy but not insignificant. Because of the shipping issue with some damage bending the frame a bit I’m having a locking issue, the bolts don’t line up and I have to throw my thigh into it to get things to latch. For the $139 I bought it at it’ll do. Where I’m at on this thing it’s not worth the hassle of disassembly and creating a return BUT if you notice any damage just save yourself the headache and get a replacement. At the end of the day it’s cheap enough to keep a few things locked up without going out and buying something more substantial.
