  • Outside cats LOVE!
Size: Small 14 X 18 Inches
I live on a farm, and that means cats. We now have 4 cats that have shown up (spay and neuter!!). I can't stand seeing animals living on their own, so they have become garage cats. It gets cold in Iowa, so I have three heated bed and one of them is like this. I tried this one because it was a little smaller for a shelf I made for them up high in the garage, above their cat tree, which gives them access. The other two beds are a different brand and hard plastic and much larger. I prefer this one and plan to build another cat tree with another place for a bed like this. All of the cats seem to love this bed, and I have found them all in their at varying times. Two of the cats that came together, are typically in their snuggling (probably because the other 2 are much larger and can't fit in it together, only on their own). I took a round bed that had no cushion in the center and placed this heated bed in the center of it (happened to fit perfect as the round bed stretched properly to fit the rectangle shape). They like having an outer edge/lip and rest their head on it and I think it makes them feel more secure. This bed has a nice softcover, which stays on well (my other 2 hard ones had a cover but it slips right off so they are useless). I also like that this bed is not a hard plastic; it is a softer blow up bed that self inflates - not so hard on the bones. And because it is soft and the cover is comfy, no need to put any padding on it, so they get more direct heat. On the hard plastic beds, I put some plush beds to soften them up, and the heat comes through, as the cats bellies often feel warm but probably not as much. As temps dropped even further, I took a diaper box (larger one), cut a small hold on one side (so my little baby cat could escape the bigger ones if needed, and cut the other end off for a larger opening, that all the cats can get into. Then I placed the bed (still with the round bed around it), in the box. Keeps the drafts off, adds security and probably helps keeps their warmth inside it when they snuggle up. Can't wait to get out there and build another area for them to play and sleep, and I will definitely be purchasing another one of these beds, as opposed the the hard plastic. Side note: The hard plastic beds seemed warm all over but one of them got a bulge in the center of it, but not too bad and cats still lay in the bed that I put on it, but now the heat seems to be concentrated to that area. The other also only warms in the center of the large hard plastic mat - again cats still use it, and I can feel the heat but this soft one seems to be heated all over so has just as much heated area as the larger hard mat. ... show more

  • I looove these things!
Size: Medium 24 X 19 Inches
I have had great luck with the Amazon Warehouse Deals (usually means an opened return or the box got a bit scuffed). Good way for broke folks like me to get this great product. I use both these cushy ones and the hard black ones, in different spots, for housecats indoors and a feral out in the shed. I have five or six now and the oldest must be around 5y, zero problems so far. I advise plugging it in in a supervised spot the first couple days just in case it overheats or something, like with any heat producing device. The only flaw I ever had was one got through chewy, which I believe was counterfeit (cord was stinky, where the real ones are a nice odorless, inert plastic). All the ones I got here have been perfect. As for the valve that seems to confuse people so much... the manufacturer sucks all the air out of the foam inside these, so they take up less room in storage I guess. All we do with the valve is let enough air in to allow the foam to expand back to its natural size. The change is subtle. After I have had it open and heating for a day so the foam is fully fluffed up, I will compress the heatpad a wee bit before closing the valve, to avoid it being too full of air, like a sealed bag of chips. With some air squeezed out you get a more comfy, squishable pad texture that features the foam more than the air. Also, if you seal it up really full of air, it could rupture if you step on it or other such mistake. As for another detail people wrongly complain about- whether it gets hot enough- these are only slightly abive ambient temp when idle. Which should be enough to attract the pet. Then the pressure of the animal sitting there turns it on and it reaches full temp. Which still isn't as hot as a heat pad like you use on a sore back! Those go on top of a person, so can be very hot. These get sat/laid on, so the flesh in contact with them is compressed, with curculation reduced, and could burn if the pad was really hot. These are set to only get as hot as is safe. And only activate when occupied. That's not a flaw it is necessary for safety. The cords are great too. Sturdy, even before the wire is added. And plenty long for most locations. Last detail to note: they are moisture resistant, to a degree. If your pet pukes or lies on this after they got rained on, no problem. Minor wetness like that. But they are NOT water resistant enough to be used outside in the rain. It is electric, after all. If you use it for an outdoor animal like my feral, you must put it in a sheltered area like a garage or a covered porch, so it isn't fully exposed to the weather. ... show more

  • Cat and Time Tested
Size: Medium 24 X 19 Inches
Product arrived on time and undamaged. I have ordered this item for at least 15-plus years, due to having multiple cats in various stages of life, with various indoor and outdoor preferences. All my cats have loved them, and I have yet to have had one of these heated pads fail, inside or outside. I live in high desert AZ so the pads get winter use only. I use the small size for small to medium cats, and the medium size for larger cats and outdoor use (more heat). It is true that the pad does not feel very warm on the surface, but it feels very warm if you stick your hand underneath. This is what the cat feels. The inflation makes this pad soft and squishy, but I usually place the pad on top of a cushioned surface, such as a pet bed, piece of furniture, or folded blanket. For freezing nights outside (unheated shed or covered porch), I put the pad in a wooden box or under an elevated small patio table and cover with a sleeping bag. This kept the temp at around 45-degrees F in the space without the cat inside. The body heat of the cat will make it warmer still. I do agree that the faux sheepskin cover is not very plush, and quite susceptible to ground-in dirt and hair, especially with dark-haired cats. I am not real diligent with frequent washings, however. I have to watch my electric bills, so my focus is keeping a cat warm (especially the older cats), while indoor thermostat temps need to be in the low sixties. My cats don't chew electrical cords, so I can't rate that feature. I have used this product with a long extension cord - properly rated. I recently ordered one for a friend who pet-sits, and wanted a way for her cat to have safe and reliable heat while she was away. She said her cat loved it also. ... show more

  • Perfect for keeping outdoor cats warm
Size: Small 14 X 18 Inches
The cats absolutely loved this heated bed! I placed it inside their outdoor cat house, and it kept both the house and the cats warm and comfortable—even when it snowed. It worked very well throughout the cold weather, and I felt much better knowing the cats had a warm place to sleep. I would definitely recommend it! ... show more

  • Dog loves it!!
Size: Large 36 X 25 Inches
The dog absolutely loves it!! It's cushy but not overly plush, works indoor and outdoor. Doesn't get too hot but is nice and warm and can be left plugged in. The cover is absolute garbage, it tore and has only single stitching so it doesn't hold up well at all. The instructions say to only use their covers but the quality is so poor on them it's disappointing. The bed itself is well worth the money but don't buy the covers, you might as well burn your money instead. ... show more

  • Baby Jo Jo loves it!
Size: Small 14 X 18 Inches
This was purchased for use with the Kitty Tube (also sold on Amazon and I highly recommend it) and it fits perfectly. I placed it inside his house last night at sundown when he was in front of our house rolling in the catnip I sprinkled on the sidewalk. This was a good opportunity as his kitty tube sits in our fenced backyard under an oak tree. I was anxiously awaiting his response, thinking perhaps it would take him some time to warm up to the idea (no pun intended!) Those of you who have cats know how they can sometimes respond to new items they encounter. Usually they cautiously approach and then hit a foreign object with their paw, crouching down to see if it will counter attack. If you have seen your cat do this, it is rather comical! Anyway, after dark, prior to hitting the sack myself, I checked on Jo Jo as is my normal routine, and he was blissfully curled up on his new heated bed. I always reach into his house to pet him at night and upon rubbing his belly, he was nice and toasty! This product is exactly as advertised. The small size is perfect for one cat. It is super easy to set up, and appears to be very durable. I ran the thick, protected cord up through one of the handles on the kitty tube and connected it to a three-pronged outdoor extension cord. Between this heated bed and the fully insulated kitty tube, I think Jo Jo is set for the winter! Also, the product arrived very quickly, as usual when ordering from Amazon. Update: this pad is going strong on some very cold nights! Between the insulation in the kitty tube, this item and another microfleece blankey I placed in the house to help trap the heat and also block the door a bit to help keep the frigid air out, Baby Jo Jo is resting comfortably at night and many times, throughout the day as well! We have had a couple of snow storms thus far with blowing drifts, but I can rest comfortably knowing kitty is dry, warm and protected. When I reach in to scratch his head at night, I also like to check the warmth of the pad, and it is nice and toasty. It makes me feel so much better to know my boy is warm, safe and secure. ... show more

  • Best bed warmer for my old guy
Size: Large 36 X 25 Inches
This is the second one of these warmers we have purchased for our senior Queensland heeler. He is pretty old and he’s blind so he won’t sleep in the house because he r runs into things. He has half of the garage with extra insulation and many other things to make it comfortable for him. With his advanced age, keeping him warm is essential to his mobility. We used to use a kerosene heater out there but it was so expensive a couple years ago and it was costing over $200 every week and half to two weeks for heating fuel. I bought the first one of these pads and the very first night he was all stretched out on his bed and got up without stiff and sore in the morning. So no more risk from kerosene heater and the huge expense. And he was warmer with the pad. It worked great all last winter. Late spring I cleaned it thoroughly and put it away where it wouldn’t get damaged. The only problem is I don’t remember where that is. So we finally just said we’d get a new one and when we find the other one we’ll have a back up just in case. This one came with a different cover and because he tosses and turns a lot I added a couple of elastic straps to the back to keep the cover in place. I took it out this morning and plugged it in and he was snoring in the afternoon napping on it. The cord is great, completely metal encased to prevent chewing. And the pad cover has an opening so for the cord to pass thru and the cover stays in place. This years version is a bit different and I like that it’s softer than the old one. I almost bought one at the feed store last week, they are same price there as last year $108.99. But I saw I could get this one in a plain brown box with no fancy pictures on the outside and it saved me over $40!!! Who cares what the box looks like. So I have a happy warm dog with a safe warming pad and saved over $40 on the purchase price (made not being able to find the one from last winter a little less maddening) I’m gonna take the money I saved and but a rose bush and a lime tree!!!! This warming pad is worth the cost at over $100 but to get it for far less than that is a huge deal. Get this and you won’t be sorry and your pet will love you even more. ... show more

  • Updating and Upgrading to FIVE Stars
Size: Large 36 X 25 Inches
**UPDATE** I want to upgrade my original 2 1/2 star review to a 5 star review in order to include the manufacturer's outstanding customer service! I did contact K&H to let them know that the pad was defective and had failed within the warranty period. And I fully expected them to tell me to send the defective pad to them (at my expense), but they did NOT! All they asked was that I email them a copy of my Amazon receipt and not to bother returning the defective pad. That was on a Thursday and by the following Tuesday I received the replacement pad! Of course it works and I hope it will continue to work as well mfor a few years to come as the smaller versions of this pad that I still own. This product is a Godsend to pets everywhere who are in need of gentle warmth for their old and arthritic bodies or just to have a somewhat warm place to lay in a cold house, a kennel or outside structure. Original Review: TWO and A HALF STARS ONLY because I bought TWO pads --- One FAILED in LESS Than 6 MONTHS! I have used the smaller version of these heated dog pads for years with mostly good results and have been very satisfied over all.....not to mention my dogs love them. Most of the K&H heated pads I purchased in the past have lasted for years, while a couple of them failed after a couple of seasons. But this is the first time I ordered the LARGE pads and the first time I've had one FAIL in less than 6 MONTHS! I purchased it in January 2022, used it thru April, got it out again at Thanksgiving and discovered it wasn't working only because neither of my dogs wanted to use the bed it was in! The product is warranted for a year, so now I'll have to contact the manufacturer and mail them the defective one, most likely, at my expense in order for them to honor the warranty. This large pad is not cheap, nor will the cost of shipping be to the manufacturer.....that alone will probably be almost as much as the pad itself! Two and a half stars for this product ONLY because the other one still works... Meanwhile, I'm glad I still had one of their long narrow heated pads that still works to substitute for the defective one in the bed of my old arthritic dog so she has something warm to lay on. ... show more
