This is the second kitty window perch I have owned. I had the first for many years and my cats loved it. The cover finally wore out after about ... 10 years or of constant use - by more than one kitty. It was the desired spot, so who got there first of our three kitties was always the game. I was going to make a new cover as the base was as good as new, but for the price of a whole new window seat and cover, it didn’t make sense to go to all the effort. This one also has a really nice zippered removable bolster and so It’s really way more complicated than I thought ... my old one didn’t have the bolster - it’s a really nice addition. I thought though I might want to change things up this time and go with a different type of window seat. There are some nice sleek looking ones now with really clean lines and metal braces. After looking at the reviews however and the photos of how the other ones were so cheaply made and the issues people were having, I decided to stay with what was tried and true for us. Also the others definitely didn’t seem as sturdy ...plus, I then noticed there were many nice new design choices in the covers of the type we had (as I mentioned my other was was designed for 10 years ago). The first one we had years.ago, we mounted with the provided Velcro strips to adhere it to the window sill. It worked great for many years and it even was in a really sunny window. It does leave a bit of residue after taking it down - but for the many years of enjoyment it provided that was a small price to pay. This time however, I decided to screw it in as I knew the holes would be easy enough to fill and paint at whatever point it would be taken down . I’m really glad I stayed with this one as it’s is so very sturdy and comfy and now that I see it in person I really like it. I have no doubt this one one will last for many years to come as well. It’s nicely padded and the cover is nice and soft. Just an added note: My kitty is 19 years old or so (he found us and was fully grown, so we don’t know exactly but he has been with us for 18 years) He was quite emaciated and his fur was just short and Scraggly - he was starving and suffering from extreme malnutrition. He was not neutered and so had quite the large head tomcat look. He also was used to only being outside, so he lived at night in our garage (his pick not mine) I wanted him to live in our house - he would yowl until he was let outside. He got in a terrible fight one night - but still drug himself back to our house. The vet thought from his injuries, he managed to survive a coyote attack. We got him neutered then at this point along with getting him patched up from the attack (I know ....poor guy!). He didn’t have a choice now - while recuperating he had to get used to us and stay inside. (It wasn’t an easy road but if he wanted to live here I had to be able to protect him - our cats are indoor cats) We were shocked ... after about 6 months of eating good food his coat began to change and grow in - turned out he looks like a beautiful Russian Blue ....his coat is gorgeous and he is pure sweetness (I will say there was a lot of time and patience involved) I put that last part in about our cat as I hope people take his life story and are heartened and encouraged to take on sometimes seemingly impossible cases with animals that can have wonderful amazing and surprising outcomes.

So easy to put together and fit's the windowsill like it was meant to be there all along. The reason why I purchased this type pf shelf sitter is because the whole purpose is for your furbaby to lay on it and enjoy the fresh air coming in while being able to see out. The others out there attach to the window which only allows for a view but no breeze or air to come in for your baby to enjoy which defeats the whole purpose. THIS is perfect. My baby love to watch what is going on and even falls asleep on it; she totally loves it. I purchased 2, 1 for our bedroom and 1 for the kitchen! Would definitely buy from again and have told many furbaby owners to try them, they won't be sorry!!!

I just received this yesterday. Easy to install. I used screws. I will also use the decorative wall supports sent, but have to adapt them differently with a 1x2 board because of my window design. It is very sturdy just with the screws. I do have wooden window sill that sticks out about 4 inches. I introduced my cat to it and she seemed to like it, but hasn't explored back to it yet. It usually takes her some time to start using something new. I know she will love laying in the sunny window and looking outside. I will probably put a bird feeder or hummingbird feeder their in the Spring to give her more to look at. I highly recommend this item. I would definitely buy again. Update from several weeks later. My cat is slow about starting to use new things, but after a few weeks, she started sitting on the window seat. I bought a bird feeder to put outside the window to give her more to look at. I absolutely love this seat and would put one in every window if I could .. lol. This is a very good quality item and I would definitely buy again. 😊

Our cat is our Neighborhood Watch representative as he certainly likes keeping an eye on the neighborhood activities. As an indoor-only cat (and small at about six pounds), he has several places staked out for his surveillance activities. Unfortunately they are in places he isn't really allowed access to (as if that stops him). So we thought we would buy him a proper shelf affording him the comforts he is accustomed to (softness, warmth, and a safe place to look down upon our dog). We looked at cat shelves in stores and online, but didn't find what we were looking for. They were either to expensive or were very cheaply made (and looked it). When my wife and I saw the K&H cat shelf, and read the reviews, we thought it sounded like a good choice. The shelf, I suppose I should call it a cat bed, arrived. After unpacking it we checked out its quality and thought it appropriate for the price. The materials were good and appeared well made. I read the assembly instructions and had little trouble putting it together. You have two options for attaching it to your window sill (three if you have to combine the two together for some reason) - one is by using Velcro to attach one edge of the bed to the sill, and the other by using wood screws to attach it more permanently. Our window sills are painted textured gypsum board but I thought we could get away with the Velcro as I didn't want to use wood screws and we had hope to be able to move the bed to other locations in the house. Sad to say that didn't work the glue didn't hold it to our sill (not the product's fault - but something you need to be aware of if you have anything less than a solid and smooth surface). So wood screws it is. We were admiring our handy-work when his eminence arrived on the scene. My wife and I thought he would be most pleased and quickly jump onto the bed and lay claim to it. Nope. The little creep would have nothing to do with it. He would sit on the couch and stare at it and any attempts to gently place him on the bed were met with his obvious contempt. Days went by with no cat enjoying our purchase. Then, one day, I got a text from my wife which contained a pic of, you guessed it, our cat lounging on the bed imperiously gazing at the world outside. Oh joy! It took a while before our cat decided to really check the bed out, but once he did it has become his favorite place to hangout. When we watch TV he'll come into the room and bound up to his perch and be social. We have had the cat bed now a few months and it still looks great, is easy to care for, and does the job well. I would certainly recommend this bed to friends.

(Sidenote: my cat's weight is 11lbs) I've had this window perch for about a 1yr and a half now and my cat, Oktober, loves it!! How do I know? Well, for starters, she uses it to sleep for the most part and its where she mostly spends her time, especially, since she is an indoor cat. If she's happy, I'm happy. We moved out of the nest(parent's house) and into an apartment with my boyfriend. Our first apartment, the window ledge was pretty thin, I believe it was between 3-4inches of space from the window to the edge. So, when I first got this, I was a bit skeptical and unsure if the perch would hold up and not fall even though it has the legs on the bottom to press against the wall. Its not double-sided tape they use but velcro so that way you can take off the perch and wash it or adjust the legs after lining it up on the ledge. You put the 2adhesives on the bottom of the perch and the other 2 on the window ledge itself (note: when taking off the adhesives from the window ledge, it will rip the paint because the adhesive is pretty tough to peel off). You line them up and press down just to make sure the adhesives and velcro are all intact, don't forget to put the legs on it too. Finally, have your cat test it out! I held the bottom when she jumped on it just incase lol the legs are also very easy to attach on the bottom. Our current apartment has longer window sills/ledge that are 9inches out and the window perch still holds up. I did try looking for adhesives with Velcro on them so that I could just reuse the ones I have on the bottom of the perch, but couldn't get any, so I improvised and got creative with command strips instead and work just as good, for now. Just know that if you are going to move apartments that the adhesives you put on the window sill will not be reusable and it will peel off the paint. I knew that from the beginning and was not upset when it was time to remove it. Hope this helps!!

**UPDATE** My fat cat has been sleeping on this almost all day today, and finally she got off then came back on and I heard the velcro coming lose. To be fair, she is fairly heavy and sleeps on it ALL day but this just might be better with lighter cats, or with a better support system. I uploaded a video to show the slanting of the perch, as well as the velcro ripping off. Before I start my review: It's kind of obvious, but just remember that you won't really be able to close your window's blinds when you install this. I have this in my bedroom window, and it blocks the blinds/curtains from being closed so just consider this before purchasing it. You might want to place this in an area with a window that doesn't have lots of people coming by, or doesn't really require the curtains to be closed. This would be perfect if you have horizontal blinds, but I have vertical curtains and blinds. This is definitely worth the money. I recently adopted a overweight cat, approximately 15 lbs and she LOVES this thing. She likes to sleep in it all day. The fabric is also very soft, and the cushion seems very comfortable. Also, there are velcro straps that support this bed. There are no nails involved (they come with nails, so the choice is optional) but the installation is overall easy. Some may think that velcro isn't supportive, but this velcro is pretty sturdy in my opinion. In the picture, the little arches to make it look nice and provide support kind of look cheap and plastic-y, but I really don't care. Another plus is that the cushion and padding part is removable and washable. So if they end up throwing up a hairball on this, you won't really have any worries.
