I purchased this antenna and put it up in the trees behind our house. In a little over 2 months I've worked all states on a number of bands, and have 95 countries towards DXCC. I am also getting great signal reports on local 40 M net and on 80 M at night. I find this EFHW antenna to be so much fun to work with. It is very well made and very easy to install. I did a 25 ft counterpoise wire and also made a 1:1 common mode choke for the feedpoint which I just added yesterday. I'm working FT8 mostly for DX and have found this antenna wonderful for that. Typically I don't run any more than 45 watts on FT8 (during the winter). I probably won't run more than 35 watts in the hot summer months. I'm running about 75 watts on SSB but have run 100 from time to time; usually it isn't needed. Since the antenna is resonant on so many bands, it makes it really easy to switch between the bands. I'm finding swr to be below 2 on all bands I'm on; i'm not running on 30 or 60 or 160 at this time though. I am not using an auto tuner; my rig is an FT 891. It's kind of like a back yard POTA setup lol. It works and it's fun to use and easy to get set up. I have the 160 through 10 m antenna and it works just fine . 80 m needs an external tuner, but other than that, everything tunes on the radio tuner. Very impressed with the build wire is good and strong., just a beautiful antenna for the price. May upgrade to the thousand watt.

This antenna is insane. Ive had it 3 hours and cant stop making FT8 contacts. Best antenna ever. The instructions are ridiculous but I didnt need em. Hang it up.. attach the coax and go nuts. It literally was super simple. My feedline to this is about 6 foot long total. Great antenna. Great price. The quality was really good too. Hard plastic balun. Well made. The wire was nice coated wire that is going to last a long while. The paracord was really good quality stuff. All for sub 90 dollars? buy it you wont be sorry. Worked great. ... show more

This antenna is 130 feet long - pretty big for most residential properties. I have a acre and still had to be careful of trees and an out building. I did exceed the 5 meter suggestion. Average height from ground is about 5 meters. Still, it resonated in the low end of 80 meters. I did move the end point of the antenna to "remove" about 18 inches of wire. That moved the point of resonance to about 3.8 MHZ. With my rig's tuner, that opens the rest of 80 meters for me. Good materials and solid construction should have this antenna lasting years. I put this antenna up in just about an hour. It stretches across the back yard from my back deck to a tall tree, about 15 feet above ground level at both ends. I live in an HOA neighborhood that prohibits all outdoor antennas, so I asked my wife to take a look. She actually wasn't even able to find the antenna until I showed her where to look, so I'm pretty sure nobody is going to see it, but time will tell. Performance-wise, my NanoVNA showed good SWR on all of the bands supported and the receive and transmit performance seem to be excellent. I'm extremely satisfied with this antenna. Update: I've had this ham radio antenna up for 3 weeks, oriented along a roughly north-south line across my back yard, and have successfully made contacts in almost 30 countries, on 6 continents, including one over 10,000 miles away, with about 5 watts of power using FT8. Using WSPR at only 150 milliwatts through this antenna, my signal got picked up on all 7 continents, including Antarctica. I'm extremely impressed, especially since I don't have it mounted as high up as I would like. ... show more

Definitely buy this. I’ve had it for approximately two months now and I have made contacts all over the world and I don’t even have it set up correctly because my area is too small and I was not able to get it up high enough. I live in Wisconsin and have made contact to Florida in California in Boston on 5 W and on my Kenwood TS 520 I have talked with Switzerland Germany Chile. I love this antenna. It’s about 133 feet long but I will still buy one for my backpack to use with my 5 W radio and a battery as a portable set up to take with me when I travel. It’s a definite five star. ... show more

Receives well on bands from 10meters all the way to 80. Really shines in the 40 and 80 meter frequencies at night. 10 meters is elusive at times. Really must be able to get it up off the ground at least 20 feet or so. Swrs range from 1 to 5 but works well with tuner and was able to adjust down to a solid 1.5 to 1 for all bands. Not really an issue but the rope that comes with it frays alot when cut but it comes with a generous amount and a lighter will come in handy. Station in nm communicates well from California to Florida and have received as far as Sweden station and transmitted as far as British Columbia on 100w. Still plenty on my end to make it better but for 80 bucks its a great starter to get on the air ... show more
