  • Very defined "blacks"
Great picture quality and resolution. The definition seen in dark pictures is unbelievable for a projector!! Great purchase

  • Best projector under $10K & one of the best under $20K
I bought mine in mid 2019. The 3.10 firmware update brought "dynamic tone-mapping" for HDR which means you can watch any 4k HDR source (which does NOT have a brightness standard) and very easily distinguish the darks to brights within picture. No other projectors on the market have this capability, which means some films/shows will look super dark and washed out. The only other solution for other projectors is to have an external device handle this before the projector sees the signal. I do have an anamorphic lens (Paladin DCR) which utilizes the entire brightness when watching ulra-wide/"scope" films (2.4:1 instead of 16:9). The lens memory is great. Black levels are excellent, though not as good as my previous JVC rs540/790r. Low lamp mode is quiet (remember good blacks require your room to be dark!). 4K is true and sharp! I'm sure most people who are looking at this projector have done their research or have someone advising them. Just know this: in 2020 this is nearly objectively the best projector under $10k, and even projectors costing $20k+ often don't look as good as this, unless they're professionally calibrated and have the extra processor I mentioned above (for HDR). The only true step above this would be a laser projector with similar capabilities. Right now the only laser options above are the JVC RS4500 (no built in HDR DTM functions) and the Sony vw885, 915 and 995 or greater (neither have built-in HDR DTM as well). Again, those all cost $20k+ not to mention the extra processing needed to equal this JVC NX7/rs2000. Another plus, the JVC autocal is very handy and produces very respectable results when using the SpyderX for gamma and i1 Pro 2 for color. (yes, a professional ISF calibration will yield best results). Pros: EVERYTHING I just mentioned above Cons: It's not a laser and the lamp will gradually dim over time (spare lamps don't cost much) ... show more

  • Replaced a 20,000 dollar RUNCO Projector with an NX7 and wow!
I have had a RUNCO 980 with 3 discrete phosphor CRT guns in a a dedicated light controlled theater for over 20 years and finally had a sync problem that put that era to and end. Studied the market and found the NX7 would be a good replacement. It was installed yesterday and ran Pirates of the Caribbean Blue Ray yesterday and was blown away by the color, contrast and sharpness. I can't believe you can replace a top of the line videophile projector with a unit 1/3 the price and have a stunning picture. If you are looking for a really great projector for a light controlled room this unit does a great job. Be sure you have the 3.1 software upgrade. ( mine came with it ) which allows scene by scene adjustment giving you the best picture. The Flesh tones are incredible and color depth excellent not to mention the JVC black level. Be careful this unit has no width or vertical height adjust so you have to be right on the money for your distance setup. I am running a 137.5 inch diagonal Sound Transparent Screen and it came down to inches to get the screen to exact size which in my case was 14 feet 6 inches from the lens front. Double check the Throw distance for your screen size and make sure your room is long enough. The noise level is very low also. Do your research but I am quite happy with the NX7 picture had to share the experience. ... show more
