Description

Control GX is the first and only shampoo smart enough to gradually reduce greys by slowly bringing them back to their natural shade while it cleanses and conditions your hair. You get an extremely natural look - just by shampooing as you normally do. Just use it instead of your usual shampoo until you like what you see. Then use it in rotation with your usual shampoo to maintain the look you like. There's never been an easier way to control your grey. Get the look you want: Use the control GX as your daily shampoo, and after the first few washes, you'll start to see a subtle reduction in the amount of gray. Continue to use it until you reach your desired level of grey reduction (generally within 2 to 4 weeks). You can even control how gradually you get to your desired result by using it daily or every other day at the start. Keep it that way: Once you've reached the level of grey reduction you like, you can reduce the frequency of use, alternating with another shampoo. In general guys use it as their daily shampoo at the start, and when they are in "maintenance mode" they use it 3 to 4 times a week.

Subtle, effective, hassle free, and (currently) fairly priced. But, read and take the instructions seriously. Don't be THAT smurf. I use in the shower: Wash my hair then move to the beard. Wet beard and apply like you would regular hair/shampoo except leave it in and avoid getting more water in it. Wash hands with soap/water immediately after applying. Then soap up and wash the rest of body. Come back to rinse beard at the end. (No more soap needed.) Probably 5 minutes total. Seems to get stronger and more consistent results with that setting time. Never a problem with staining (hands, feet, face, or otherwise). I've noticed that it has a very slight burning sensation while it is working and once it stops, it's time to rinse. I use half dollar size amount for a full, but short, beard (#5 or #6 on hair clippers). But, it's fine to use a more when starting out, until you get a feel for it. When I started my beard was nearly full Santa Claus while my hair was brown with a touch of grey at temples. Took about 3 or 4 times before it matched my hair. I don't see a change until the day after washing, when my beard has had a chance to work the oils back into itself though. So patience. (They sell other products for immediate color, if that's your game.) After I get it where I want it I just use it once or twice a week. It comes out as your beard grows. So, if you see yourself getting a touch too much grey, use it the next time you shower. (This package lasts me nearly 4-5 months if that tells you anything.) After a couple months I feel like the color gets too dark in the thicker parts and so I let it go 50% grey again. Then start over. I have experimented with only applying to problem areas. Seems to work, but also annoying to be so particular, and have to use a mirror, in the shower when all you want is to get on with things though. ... show more

Smells nice, better than the purple bottle THK thickening version (which smells more like hair dye, bleh). Works slowly & subtly so you don't suddenly look like you have a fake dark beard and everyone knows you're coloring. I'm not sure about this, but it seems like this brown bottle version (non-THK) might be less effective than the purple bottle THK (thickening) version. This perception could simply be coincidence with how I've used it, since I alternate using that until the bottle's gone, then I use a bottle of this, and so on. I use it about 2-3 times per week to maintain. What's nice is you can choose how often to use to subtly hide some grey, or keep using daily to keep increasing its effect, or use once in a while to maintain subtle camouflaging. Sky's the limit so to speak. IMPORTANT: when they say don't leave this on your nails, THEY MEAN IT! This stuff stains your nails QUICKLY! Use gloves or rinse off your nails *immediately*, and this even includes your toenails when you rinse while standing in the shower, pay attention to that too, lift your toes or make sure they're in the water stream- you've been warned. Unless you don't mind your nails looking dark and dirty, but chances are if you're using this stuff to begin with, then you care about your appearance. ALSO IMPORTANT: Don't expect immediate results, it takes time to start having a noticeable effect, and they explain this. TIP, you can apply this standing at the sink and leave on longer than the 2-3 minutes they recommend, for greater & faster effect. It works but you'll have to leave it on for a lot more than 2 minutes. You'll notice a decent improvement at 10 mins. I keeps it on for 15 or 20 mins. I guess the longer you have it on the darker it gets. This works better. Otherwise you'll need to keep doing the 2 mins every day for a while, but you'll use up more of the bottle that way. I have a couple of white patches in my medium beard and I prefer this than the rigmarole of using dye, mixing, using gloves, the time leaving it on,too early and its not dark enough, too dark and it looks fake. With this product you can judge it better, its not as harsh as dye and build up the color as needed. ... show more

I forgot I bought this beard wash back in 2022. Decided to try it for a few days. Whoa! My beard went from full gray to a color I haven't seen in 35 years. I am shocked how well it worked. I haven't had any issues with stained fingernails.

    • Poorly mixed product leading to inconsistent results

I've bought this multiple times and it's really inconsistent. The stuff in the tube seems like it's poorly mixed so sometimes you get the coloring agent and often times you don't so you're using it with zero results.
