  • A super super-automatic espresso maker
Size: 1 Color: Metropolitan Black Pattern Name: Coffee Machine
I owned a DeLonghi espresso maker for almost a decade and used it to make myself a latte every morning as a little wake-me-up before work. It worked mostly fine, but the steam wand busted about 4 years ago so I bought a separate milk frother to use instead which meant I had the espresso maker, the bean grinder, and the frother all eating up counter space in my kitchen. Plus it took me a solid 15 minutes to make everything and cleanup afterwards; practically the definition of a first world problem I admit, but still it was kind of a pain. I'd been eyeing the Jura super-automatic units for years but holding off because it's such a decadent expense. Finally this year I decided to pull the trigger during a 10% off sale. Let me tell you, it works like a dream. It's fast, has a small-ish footprint, is shockingly quiet compared to my old machine, and makes efficient use of the beans. Cleaning and maintenance are also made extremely simple and almost entirely automated. And it makes great tasting espresso, so all in all I've been extremely happy with it. That said, you should know what you're getting into if you buy one. Obviously the price tag, even during a sale, is quite high. Don't lie to yourself about how you'll save money in the long run by skipping those trips to Starbucks. It's a high end, premium product and you're burning some money to own it. Also, taking care of it will incur ongoing expenses. Jura intends for users to install one of their smart filters in the water reservoir. It makes the water taste better and prevents mineral buildup on the inside of the machine and also removes the need to descale, but the filters are only rated for 40 liters. That might sound like a lot, but every time the machine turns on and after every drink the machine will flush water through the lines, meaning you'll go through those filters faster than you think. If you make drinks every day, replacing the $20 filter once every month or two is typical. Additionally, if you make milk drinks you'll need to clean the milk system every day using Jura cleaning tablets to prevent dried milk and bacteria from fouling up the system. A 30 day supply runs $30, so with the filters you could be spending as much as $50/month just to properly maintain everything. Of course, you could skip some of this, but doing so might shorten the lifespan of the machine, and given the price tag to buy one that might not be the cheapest route in the long run. Jura is also big on the expensive accessories: everything from a $40 glass milk carafe on up to hundreds of dollars for a refrigerated container to a $30 steel cable to cover the milk tube (which is purely for aesthetics) to a $40 wireless transmitter that allows you to order drinks from your phone to expensive cup warmers, etc. The bottom line is that yes, the Jura ENA 8, and probably all of the high end Jura models, works amazingly well and is super convenient, but really you're just kind of trading money to get more of your time back in the form of convenience. Depending on your situation that might be a worthy tradeoff, but go into it with your eyes open. It makes a great tasting shot of espresso, but so do machines a quarter of the price; they just won't look as nice or be as time saving and easy to use. ... show more

  • Make great coffee and latte. Very easy to use but a bit costly to clean
Size: 1 Color: Metropolitan Black Pattern Name: Coffee Machine
This little espresso machines make great coffee and latte. Very easy to use but a bit costly to clean. 1. The milk system cleaning product cost about $20 and last for 3 months (I made two cups of latte every morning and use the milk system cleaning cycle with the product after usage) 2. The water filter cost $20 and last for 1.5 months (for two cups a day) 3. The descaling tablets and coffee cleaning tablets cost $30 for 6 months. so it costs about $0.75 per cup in additional to your coffee and milk costs. ... show more

  • Great Coffee Machine, even purchased a 2nd one, however....
Size: 1 Color: Metropolitan Black Pattern Name: Coffee Machine
Love this machine. Great choices for coffee. Taste was amazing. Loved it so much purchased a second one, same model for another house. However after it is broke now. Purchased in December 2020. Error code 8. Not good. Trying to contact seller to see if authorized dealer. Will have to send into Jura but will only covered by 2 year warranty of the seller was authorized dealer. Read the fine print. I may be out of a lot of money. JURA REPAIR SERVICE DETAILS • Brew Group Refurbishing Over time, brew group seals will swell, dry or crack, which prohibits the brew group from returning to the home position or creating an airtight seal to build the proper amount of pressure to brew. If the brew group fails to return to the home position, or is unable to begin the brew process, an "error 8" message will appear. Furthermore, mold often accumulates around the drain valve and sometimes around the brew cup. For this reason alone, the machine should be serviced every 1-2 years. ... show more

  • pros and cons
Size: 1 Color: Sunset Red Pattern Name: Coffee Machine
Pros: Full service Automatic coffee maker with a delightfully small footprint and clever, eye friendly design. The coffee is excellent, the water reservoir is adequate as is the coffee bean holder/grinder. The quality of the milk foam is good, and the push button interface to make milk drinks is super easy. Cons: The dregs holder is very small. The machine requires a filter, no matter how soft your water, but that is a small issue. It rinses itself automatically so you always have to have a container underneath the spout (but then you never have to remember to rinse the machine.). The biggest con is the milk foam temperature is not adjustable and never gets hot enough, in fact is mostly room temp as far as I can tell. This is an expensive machine. I currently use a milk foamer to make hot foam, which shouldn't be necessary given that this machine makes excellent foamed milk ... just not hot! 😑 Jura customer service isn't terrible but hasn't been very helpful. Next stop on my coffee machine journey when I amortize this punk down to $5 a coffee is Breville. ... show more

  • Easy to use. Best coffee/espresso ever.
Size: 1 Color: Massive Aluminum Pattern Name: Coffee Machine
Yeah, it's a lot of money but totally worth it. We were visiting friends in Vienna and they had this model. We couldn't believe how much they paid for it but after a week of using it, we were like we have to have this. We have not regretted yet buying it. So great having quality coffee/espresso drinks. Super easy to use, this machine walks you thru everything and is self-cleaning. Buy it now don't look back. ... show more
