I've had this machine a few years now and like everyone else, I absolutely love it. However, there are a few quirks and after spending hours on videos and blogs, here's some things I've discovered: 1. You absolutely must use the correct needles. Organ HLx5. It says this in the manual but it's not stressed enough. Otherwise the thread breaks often, as other users have mentioned. 2. It's very easy to load the bobbin into the bobbin case backwards which causes bad stitching and looks like the tension is wrong. Even though I've used this type of bobbin for years, I keep the picture in the manual handy and always look at it when I load the bobbin. 3. The tension on the machine should be light, around 1.75 and also light on the feed dogs. Aurafil thread works best but regular Walmart thread is ok, too. 4. I love the automatic cutter but it often causes the needle to become unthreaded. The solution to this is to put the needle in the up position before hitting the cutter button. Then, before lifting the pressure foot, pull the fabric back out of the feed dogs. This will pull a little bit of thread out, enough so that it doesn't come unthreaded. (Thank you Chatgpt for telling me this tip which I didn't believe until I tried it. Now it's automatic to do it this way.) Also, if you get rat's nests on the bottom fabric from using the thread cutter, just start on a little scrap piece of fabric that you can discard. Most of the time, the rats' nests aren't a problem but if I don't want to have one, that's what I do. This is a problem with most automatic cutters, not just the Juki. 5. Unlike my Janome and Brother machines, I have never had any luck with the automatic threader on this machine. I just use a little wire embroidery threader (only a couple of dollars on Amazon.) With the right needles, it's very easy to thread it manually. 6. Users say that the backwards pushing feature on the foot pedal that cuts the thread is annoying and they hit it accidentally. I agree and you can buy a little rubber piece that fits on the foot pedal. Just search Juki reverse pedal stopper. $13.50 on Amazon. It will save you a lot of grief. 7. I use a quilting bar all the time to quilt parallel lines. The walking foot that came with the machine doesn't have a bar and I tried to buy other walking feet with them but none of the worked. I final found "Quilting foot with left and right guides" $7.99 on Amazon. It is a regular type of foot with quilting bars. This isn't a walking foot but the machine is so strong you almost never need to use one. I've used it a bunch and it goes through many layers of fabric with foam or batting easily. It saves hours of drawing quilting lines which I hate doing. 8. While you're buying accessories, buy a "stubby flat head screw driver". This will help open up the needle plate easily and you need to do this fairly often to clean underneath it. 9. this machine can go very, very fast and I sometimes wish I'd upgraded to the next level that has a speed control. But it's an expensive upgrade so unless you sew for a living, I don't think it's really necessary. Although it sometimes runs away from you, you get used to it. BTW, it not only sews fast, it sews straight and it's easy to keep the fabric in line (another lovely feature). 10. That's my summary of things that will make you love this machine even more. Even though I've got fancier machines, I use this one most and I'd never part with it. You don't need all the fancy stitches that other machines have and this machine, when used correctly, produces beautiful stitching and goes through multiple layers like butter. Just buy it!!!

If I could give this 10 stars I would! Love love love this machine! So much so, I bought two! I bought one of these, then a week later I bought a second one and a Grace quilt frame to use one of them one. What is so great about this machine? It's substantial. It's heavy duty and a workhorse. There is no plastic, it weighs a lot if that is a concern for you. It has an all metal body and components. This machine goes fast if you want it to, it responds extremely quickly, you want it to speed up, or slow down it's like johnny on the spot. There is no wearing this machine out. I sew daily and put machines through their paces and this one is up to that challenge. It's pretty. All bright white, super clean looking. Visibility is fantastic. The head of the machine is tapered, look at the pic. That tapered head provides an unimpeded view of your project. This is great, because so many machines now have so many electronics the head of the machine is huge... which hides your project. Free Motion Quilting on this machine is easy due to this tapered head and visibility. PERFECT stitches, this machine does one this... straight stitch, but it does it perfectly. You can't mess this up, if you are doing free motion, it just does it perfectly. You know how so many machines will make long stitches, eyelash tension problems or break thread when trying to do FMQ, and it's so hard to get tension right? Well, not with this baby. Listen, I have done FMQ with this machine and it's MADE for this task. First, the knob on top of the head is to adjust the pressure foot pressure, which means that I can even FMQ using the regular piecing foot if I want to. (and I have). I have had no problems with tension or eyelashing.. this machine just makes FMQ simple. The thread holder, is fabulous, no tangles no trouble. And I just leave a spool on the second spindle set up for winding bobbins all the time, so I don't have to unthread the needle. It's quiet for a machine. The auto thread cutter is amazing! You rock your foot back, it cuts. Not only does it cut with a push of your foot, it leaves the tiniest tail! And it starts sewing perfectly every time. So, there is no trimming long tails, and no having to take the bobbin out to lengthen the thread to get it to start again like other machines can often do.. it catches the tails and starts again every time. I love that if I use the cutter button, I have a tiny quarter inch tail left. No trimming to do and it saves thread. I love that I can cut the thread with my FOOT! The knee lifter also means that you can cut and lift without ever taking your hands off the machine. You don't have to lift the pressure foot by hand, or push the cut button by hand. I just can't find anything "wrong" with this machine. The lighting could be better but it is not bad and it's WAY better than my Elna and Brother machines, so while more light would be great it's got more lighting than most machines. You DO have to oil this machine each time you use it. BUT in my world that is a plus, not a detriment. Why? Because it allows you to service your machine, know its lubricated properly. These self lubed machines eventually suffer problems and you can't do it yourself, you have to take the machine for service. I am shocked at the low price of this machine for the joy of using it. It's the best machine that I have ever owned and it's the cheapest. I have a 6,000.00 Elna, which does not hold a candle to this Juki, though the Elna of course does all the fancy stuff, zig zag, embroidery etc. But I despise actually sewing on the Elna because of the large head and poor lighting. How about the one on the Grace SR2 Frame... it's as great as it is on the sewing table. Just simple, just works, just no problems. If you are a quilter, and you want the PERFECT QUARTER INCH SEAM, this is the machine for that. If you are a quilter and you want simple, perfect, easy, reliable, joyful, sewing... this is the machine for that. This machine is a PARTNER, not a tool. It's truly a quilter's partner. I wish I had gotten one of theses years ago. You would have NEVER convinced me that a machine could improve my quilting after 20 years of experience, but this machine has made my quilts crisper and better. People think I am crazy, they say... but .. but.. it only does a straight stitch.. who wants just a straight stitch machine... then they use it and buy one.

I'm in heaven!! This machine is a boss!!! I've wanted one for so long and finally got it. No regrets! Its a stunning machine and Amazon has it for at least $100 cheaper than anywhere else and it includes all the bells and whistles. You're not sacrificing anything buying from Amazon, plus its speedy shipping. I opted for the security code on delivery and that worked out well. So the Juki TL 2000 is a beautiful sleek machine, came with a walking foot making it perfect for quilting. If you want to free motion you need to buy that separately ( which Amazon also has for a great deal). It came with needles (size 11\14), 4 bobbins, 1 bobbin case (inside the machine already), oil and oiler, screwdriver, lint brush. It also has a huge extension table and a nice length power cord. It has a beautiful low hum that's not loud at all. Sews straight even stitches. This machine also has a pressure foot pressure adjuster. Big bonus because lots of machines don't have that feature. To add an FYI, the flat part of the needle faces the right, not the back like most home machines. Your also supposed to add a small drop of oil to the spot you click the bobbin into (inside the machine) with every bobbin change. This is a great value and it appears it'll last a very very long time. Made of all metal, no plastic. If your a little lady like me, you may want to schedule someone to help you remove it from the box initially. Its packaged very well and it was difficult to remove by myself. Trust me, I managed and got that bad boy out! I am so happy with this purchase and I'll update my review after a few weeks of sewing!!

I waited over a year, before buying one of these, because it is going to be my last machine. Took a minute, to figure out the bobbin threader - there is a notch you have to pay attention to. The needle threader is horrible. You need three hands to get the needle threaded. Luckily, it seems to be easier to thread from the side, with my bad eyes. I don't use the needle threader. It is odd to thread, but somewhat reminds me of machines at school. That was a long time ago. I had to remove the lifter, because I have a tendency to lean my leg, while I'm sewing and I kept lifting the foot. That hasn't been an issue yet. The extension table to awesome. It sews like a dream. it doesn't take long to adjust to the speed. The only other tedious feature is the thread cutter in the peddle. I can't sew with my shoes on or put my heal down, unless I put it sideways, or I'm constantly cutting the thread while I'm trying to sew. That is the most useless feature, in my opinion. It's worth it.

Now that I am retired, I have started sewing again. I make clothes; I don’t make quilts. I gave my old Viking Lily to my daughter and was looking for a new machine for myself. I held off on buying this machine for over a year and ended up buying a used babylock Soprano instead. That machine is wonderful for buttonholes and mending; however, it doesn’t make the perfect straight stitch. The price on this Juki went up 100 dollars so I bought it for fear that it would go up some more. ABSOLUTELY ZERO REGRETS! Yes, you have to watch videos to figure out the automatic needle threader (or just thread it by hand), it is so smooth and makes the perfect straight stitch. It literally makes me happy to sew on it. Note: if you buy this machine, watch the JukieJunkies video on oiling it; it is really helpful. And if you are worried about a machine that has to be oiled, don’t! It is very easy. Bottom line: I should have bought it in the first place in stead of waiting over a year.

SO before I get into this, the machine works, and amazon made good on it. BUT while I knew I was getting a refurbished machine and I expected it wouldn't be super clean. This machine arrived in a cardboard box with no foam, just crumpled paper for padding AND: 1.Missing the knee pedal (which amazon gave me a partial reimbursement to replace, and I was able to order it locally.) 2. Had a broken screwdriver. 3.A bent needle was inside the machine arm. 4.The support rod on the spool pin is dented and doesn't raise all the way. 5. The manual was missing ( I found it online) 6. the short spool pin is broken like it was snapped off and is missing. 7. The face plate cover on the arm of the machine is cracked. I put some pretty tape over it... it doesn't close properly either. 8. There were metal shards in the tool parts bag I have no idea what from... 9. The thread guide was bent. I bent it back into place best I could which worked for a while. During the year I have had it.. 1. The needle bar thread guide snapped (it was cheap to replace) 2. The bent thread guide snapped. (also cheap to replace) 3: Sometimes the presser foot gets jammed, I usually get it loose playing with the drop feed nob. I make toys for a living for and this machine despite all the above is a work horse. There was a bit of learning curve for me. It requires tension adjustments more often than I like. It needs to be cleaned a lot. The needle needs to be changed more than I am used to. As long as I keep it up, the machine runs great. The tension issue can be really time consuming when it gets out of wack though. I also have issues where the thread will get loose between the seams. I corrected this by adjusting the bottom bobbin tension a little. This machine was good for me to get into a more profession piece of equipment. I love it. It was a steal as far as I am concerned. Just be aware the refurbished machine may not arrive perfect or complete, but Amazon has great customer service and they made it right. I have probably made close to 1000 plushies on this machine with hardly any issues. Fleece is my fabric of choice, and this machine goes through thick layers of it with no issues.

I've been putting this Juki through its paces for a little over a week now, and I am impressed and having a ball using it. The stitches are beautiful, either short or long. Once I get my memory trained to thread needle and fill the bobbin, I expect everything to go quickly and evenly through everything I can put to it. I have had no issues with the thread cutter. I use the button on the front of the machine, not the foot pedal. The needle up/down feature is smooth and easy. I especially like the position of the button on the front of the machine.

I had my eye on this machine for at least 5 years before I purchased it. I'd been sewing on a $200 Brother starter machine and turned out some good quality quilt tops and clothing on it, but eventually it wore out. I have a 30 year old Husquevarna viking that still runs beautifully but it just can't handle the FMQ like I wanted. This JUKI is absolutely all I had hoped for. The noise is so minimal, it doesn't bounce around the table even when I sew at high speeds--speaking of which, no more getting impatient with your top sewing speed on this machine. I worried about not having the speed control like on the 2010 model, but I wasn't willing to pay the extra price just for that. The foot control is good on this and I needn't have worried; I can go any speed comfortably. Remember to read the instructions and oil all points before you start. The throat is not as wide as one might expect, but you don't really need a full-on longarm in most cases. The extra height and 1.25 inches or so of throat space is plenty for most quilters. You can buy a frame or build on if you like, or just quilt even a large king quilt in quarters. The thread trimming works great and so far I haven't had any problems with starting again right away, even when the bobbin thread is invisible after trimming. NICE. The knee lifter lever is a time saver too, although I don't use it consistently because I have 3 little ones who are very curious. If you, like me, have LO's in the house and plan to leave this machine out, do use the cover and unplug all the cords when you leave it, just to be safe, and don't have it on anything that could be pulled down. She's not a move-around-often machine and could really do damage if she fell. I wish this particular package had come with a few more bobbins, but it's not a big deal. We always need more bobbins anyway. Basically, this is not a starter machine, but is absolutely perfect for a step up in your game and one that will last you a good long time if you take care of her. The feet are so sturdy and i like the threading--reminds me of my grandmother's 1950s Necchi that I learned to sew on--and nothing could shop that one. I have a feeling this lovely sleek and powerful JUKI will be just the same.
