  • Good beginner serger
I love this little serger. This was my first sewing machine. I was doing mainly garments and it requires 90% of the sewing to be serged. I’ve never threaded a regular machine and I was able to thread this no problem given the detailed instructions. I’ve done quite a few sweaters and this thing does its job beautifully. I love that Juki makes great machines at any price point. ... show more

  • Very happy with my Juki serger
Easy to use and comes pre-threaded—perfect for a first serger! Many bad reviews stem from user error; take a little time to learn it, and you’ll love it. The included DVD is also available on YouTube.

Excellent domestic machine

  • Don't bother. It is NOT an automatic threader
I've been sewing for 50+ years. I have a Juki industrial sewing machine that I ADORE, so I figured this serger would be just as simple to use. I HAD a serger that I used until it simply fell apart. That serger took me 5 minutes tops to thread. This one? I just wasted 2 hours trying to thread this one. I figured operator error, but then nope. That lower looper horked up every time. First the latches and catches are extremely hard to put the threads through. The tension was really tight, even after I put everything on 0. The lower looper with the "auto threader' is an easy to miss, impossible to thread portion, and that's the one that matters. It would not catch. I tried so many times. The portion that holds the knife doesn't move out of the way, so you get to attempt to thread the needles around the knife. I'd rather be sewing, not wasting my time threading my serger. Enough is enough. I'm getting the air-threader serger. More money, way less stress on me. ... show more

  • Book directions
Directions in manual were difficult to follow. I googled instructions. Excellently demonstrated threading the machine. This machine is really wonderful. Compared to my Bernina serger, this one is better! I love it!!!

  • Nice Serger
Haven't had any problems with it so far. It's a nice serger. Love the functions.

  • It works
I thought a serger a needless luxury and an unnecessary headache with 4 spools of thread. But the price was good and I'm a Juki fan and love a mechanical machine that has no beeps. I am loving this serger for a first one. I can thread it okay, but can take a few attempts before it's happy. This will not be my last serger. Sorry I waited. If you can afford it, go for an upgrade. But I do love Jukis. ... show more

  • Juki serger
I intended to use the machine a little longer before writting the review but I'm just so excited about this machine I couldn't wait. I have been sewing for about 40 years. I grew up when sewing wasn't a craft, it was a matter of economics so we had to learn. And we always used a Singer. When I bought my first serger, it was a Singer Stylist. It has always been a struggle to make it work correctly - I spent more time coaxing it into working than I spent actually sewing. When it died a sudden death, after only a couple of years, I decided to try this Juki. I LOVE IT. It threads quickly and easily and sews a beautiful seam. MY old Stylist was loud and vibrated a lot; this machine is much quieter and runs very smoothly. My old Stylist machine was tricky to thread; this machine threads very easily, I got it right the first time. (Playing with the new toy: I unthreaded it many times just so that I could rethread it and make sure I could consistantly thread it properly.) I have already sewn a few garments and can tell this machine is a real workhorse. I hope to buy an electronic sewing machine soon and it will be a Juki. I have given up on Singer (many reasons why, but this is not the place), seems the old reliable ain't so reliable anymore. ... show more
