  • Stitches great on knits
The stitching looks professional. I've only tried on knits so far, does a great job. Great value for money. Compact, doesn't take up a lot of space. I didn't re-thread. I tied on spools of thread and pulled through, cutting thread at needles. Then thread needles. Very fast sewing, but I went slower to create straight lines. Maybe with experience i can sew faster speed. I ordered their hem foot so maybe that will help. Practice adjusting tension on scrap fabric 1st. I use Fray Check to secure stitches so they won't unravel, as I can't figure out how to pull thread through to tie off. LOVE pulling one thread--the lower looper thread-'to remove stitches! Very fast stitch removal, saves tons of time! Sews smooth, not very noisy. You have some noise as it's a machine, but not annoying to me. I watched several videos 1st before using the machine. Also joined support groups on FB which has been very helpful. I do own a serger so I wasn't intimidated by having 3 needles, and adjusting tension, differential feed and pressure. I am pushing 70 years old. If I can learn this machine so can you. Patience and persistence will help! I ordered the model 1500, but received model 1600. I don't think there are any differences. I'm guessing the 1600 is sold by non-Juki dealers??? ... show more

  • Amazing machine, so easy to learn!
This is a beautiful, smooth, easy to learn machine. I was torn on which coverstitch machine I wanted to get. I already had a sewing machine and a serger, so a coverstitch machine was the missing piece to have everything I needed to make beautiful clothes. Right out of the box, this machine worked perfectly. I had heard so many negatives about the Brother and Janome coverstitch machines (skipped stitches, issues with tension, etc.). So far, I have had ZERO problems with this machine. It literally feels like I am sewing through butter. It is not too loud of a machine at all. The threading instructions are so easy to follow and I had it threaded within an hour of opening the box. I am so happy I got this machine! I have had no skipped stitches, tension has been easy to set and figure out, and my clothes look great. Stretchy knit fabrics are pulled through evenly and easily. If you're unsure about buying this machine, go for it. I promise you will not regret it! ... show more

  • Great machine with small footprint
I was thrilled at receiving this coverstitch machine with such fast shipping. Juki is great at everything it makes. I have 3 industrial juki machines and was hesitant to buy a home machine because it might not perform as well. It does very well at a great price. I had read reviews for weeks on coverstitch machines and believe this is the best one for the money. I’m still learning it, but it is intuitive and is easy so far. The seller wasn’t the first one that popped up when I searched for this machine, but I looked at the other sellers list and chose this seller due to being a seller that sold sewing machines as a business. I avoid buying from sellers that sell everything even though they don’t know the products. Happy so far and probably wont need to contact the seller, but glad they will know what i might need when I call! ... show more

  • Good Machine but needs YouTube in English to show how to thread it correctly.
I recently purchased this machine. It works great, but it took me a lot of trial and error to get it threaded properly. The machine came threaded but the tread wasn't on a spool, it only was threaded. It was cumbersome with threads hanging all over the place and I didn't get a good view of what the proper pattern was. It didn't match up with the book in my opinion. I had a lot of breakage and seams that didn't take at all. I am still struggling with learning how to properly thread it. Unfortunately, the only YouTube videos that are available on this machine are only in Japanese. I could follow it to some extent but I struggled to get it right. I went to the seller and there was a technician who could talk with me on the phone but couldn't do a screen share. It's nearly impossible to understand how to thread a machine if the person showing you can't see what you are doing right. I also haven't been able to find any FB Groups for this machine yet. I understand it's very new and that might be why. But, after a lot of work to get it to work, I think I have figured it out. I hope that JUKI American creates a YouTube series on this machine so I can learn how to use it properly ... show more

  • NO SKIPPED STITCHES!! YAY!!!
Did my research via customer reviews, and this is exactly what I was looking for. So many cover stitch machines out there, but the key words that sold me was NO SKIPPED STITCHES, and knock on wood- I haven't gotten one skipped stitch with this Juki. Very compact- almost half the size of regular machines. Powerful, heavy duty- literally heavy, but that's a plus, so it doesn't shift when in use. Easy threading, granted you'll need to 'learn' the first couple times, then you'll be able to do it easily. Only con I can mention is the 'open area' (don't know technical term) where your right hand would go to help guide material- is quite small, so in order to lift/lower foot, you'll need to reach over machine to left side, then lift foot lever. Very small inconvenience, but I'd take it over skipped stitches any day. Highly recommend this Juki. ... show more

  • I love it!
So far, I'm really loving this coverstitch machine. I spent a year debating this purchase, but in the end, I went with the Juki because I love my juki serger and the feedback on the stitch quality for this machine lined up with my feeling about my serger. I could see how the threading might be confusing at first, but since I already have the Juki MO354DE serger, the threading was pretty straight forward...I only got a little confused with the lower looper. I watched a couple of videos before I tried to sew anything with this machine and I think that made finishing off the end and getting the fabric off the machine much easier. (I knew what to expect and it behaved exactly as in the videos.) The quality of my stitches has been superb and I'm really glad I finally got this machine. ... show more
