  • Best little sewing machine
I love this sewing machine. Ever since I had sewing class, I wanted my own machine. First we bought front loading brother sewing machines (cheap ones), but I could not stand it. I had never used Juki machines before, but I liked the all metal interior and the easy to use layout. I have used this machine for a few months now, and I absolutely love it! Everything is so convenient on this machine, and it is perfect for my needs (mainly used for making skirts, bags, or other small items). It is also very quiet. I have it on a poorly made desk, and still runs very quietly. I used the project runway brother machines in my class, and we had nothing but problems with them. I have yet to have any problems with this machine, though. It may seem expensive for the features, but it is definitely worth it. ... show more

  • No customer service
I returned the one I bought, it would not pick up the bobbin thread the timing was off. Customer service for Juki is non existent.

  • I really wanted to love it.
I bought this in 2020, so this is not an initial review. I really wanted to love it. I have already been hand sewing for decades. I decided it was finally time to learn how to sew on a machine. I got a few things seen initially, but started having problems pretty quickly. I put it away for a year and got it out again this summer when i decided to make myself a rennaisance festival costume. I started having issues with the stitches curving to the left when i gently guided it rather. To get a straight line was was really having to haul on the fabric to keep it straight. Not at all fun and I still ended up with wonky stitch lines. After trying to adjust the feed dogs and and the presser foot tension, I cam to realize that neither can be adjusted to better control the material. It will be getting donated and i am getting a Singer HD. UPDATE: I received my Singer sewing machine and it had none of the issues my Juki had. ... show more

  • A Good Basic Machine that Delivers as Promised
I used to own a Juki Industrial sewing machine and liked it a lot except for the fact that it only had one stitch (straight stitch). I bought the HZL-K65 because I was in the market for a good basic home use sewing machine with features like zig zag stitch and buttonholes. There is a dearth of online reviews for the Juki HZL-K65 so I took a took a chance because I knew the brand name and at just over three hundred dollars, the price was good. I've had the machine for about a week now and have set it up and tested it pretty extensively. I will update my review in a few months if anything changes. Hopefully this review will help someone else make a decision. The HZL-K65 is a "household"/home-use model, so you don't get the speed of a pricier industrial machine. I have it set on the highest speed but it still feels a bit slow to me as compared to the industrial machine. Speed is relative and this is probably a non-issue for home sewers. On the plus side, because the HZL-K65 is computer controlled, you can easily switch between 15 different stitches with the tap of a button. The machine tension comes pre-set and I would avoid tweaking this setting because the machine makes smooth and even stitches out of the box. I've found the stitch quality to be very good with no skipping, puckering or thread breaking on every weight of fabric I've tried from sheer silk to multiple layers of denim. The HZL-K65 also comes with a useful DVD that demonstrates everything in the manual. I recommend watching it at least twice before you set up the machine and keep a laptop nearby while you learn to use the machine so that you can replay sections of the DVD if you need to. Note that some functions like the "needle threader" and the "automatic buttonhole" are tricky if you haven't used similar ones before and require some practice. Make test buttonholes on sample fabric before you use the buttonhole feature on a real project. If you buy this machine used and don't get the DVD, the videos are also on youtube. In short, the Juki HZL-K65 delivers everything it promises in the manual and functions well. I recommend the HZL-65 as a good basic machine that is suitable for all household sewing from apparel to home interiors. ... show more

  • Seized up after half a days usage
Couldn't use for 6 months after purchase due to a surgery which didn't let me sit in one place that long. After I opened the box and reviewed the Disc, I used the machine to begin a quilt project. After a half a days use, the machine seized up. I did some research and it warned of "over heating" so I let the machine sit over night. The next morning, still seized up. Cleaned the bottom casing( even though after a half a day of use it wasn't really dusty) and still seized up. No response from Juki. Junk. ... show more

  • I really love this machine
Thus far, I really love this machine. It does everything that I need and its quiet which is great because now sewing when the family is asleep is nice and easy! I make clothing and such and things like pillowcases. I dont think this machine is mean for a quilter though so I wouldnt get it with that impression. The settings are also really easy to use and understand. ... show more

  • Seems like a good machine
I gave this sewing machine three stars because I am concerned it might be damaged. It arrived in a crushed box and it makes a grinding noise when I turn it on. I had a lot of trouble with the tension when I first used it , but that seems to be better now. Although it makes the grinding noise at first it does sew quietly. I would purchase this again. ... show more

  • Simplicity
It’s easy to use. The speed depends on how fast you want it to go. The thing I like most is the lock stitch at the beginning and at the end. I’m not yet accustomed to the automatic threader but it is a big plus. Excellent machine for beginners or intermediate sewers. My old machine still runs good but I replaced it with a faster pace and more quiet machine. ❤️❤️❤️ ... show more
