I recently purchased the Jugbow Dog Shock Collar for my St. Bernard, who weighs in at a hefty 135 pounds. Initially, I was skeptical about using a "shock" collar, but I am pleasantly surprised by how effective and user-friendly this product is. First and foremost, the collar fits my dog perfectly and has plenty of room for her to grow. The adjustable size ensures that it remains comfortable even during extended wear. The quality of the collar is top-notch, and it seems durable enough to withstand my dog's playful nature. What really impressed me is how quickly my St. Bernard responded to the beep function. Many problems here. For one, you should know that these cheaper electric collars work differently from the higher end ones. Long story short, the nicer ones work more like a medical TENS unit while these cheaper ones much more directly electrocute your dog in such a way that can leave burns and cause real harm quickly and easily. So these cheap ones are not very safe and you really need to be careful with them. Be careful not to burn your dog yourself and be on the lookout because, as it turns out, these cheapest devices are more prone to malfunction. Now, the real reason I'm giving this one star: this thing broke almost immediately. The collar part of it uses cheap plastic connections so if your dog ever plays with another while wearing it, that's a near guarantee it is going to get broken very very quickly. Its not made in a way where the part that contacts the dog can be looped onto another collar so as soon as it breaks, the whole thing is basically e-waste. I'm not schilling or kidding when I say this thing is a waste of money and time and you, your wallet, and your dog are all much better off with getting one of the more reputable brands because (I'll reiterate) 1 you're dog will be a lot less likely to get hurt 2 you're a lot less likely to be burning your money doing so 3 your money will go to a company that cares at least a little rather than a Chinese shell pumping out garbage

I bought two (I have two dogs and wanted two different receivers) of these and they both work great. My dogs are big and they are both reactive. I have never had to use the shock feature on either of them. Just used the beep and vibrate. Just using those two features alone has corrected their behavior and now I don’t even need to use those anymore. I just need to put their collars on and their behavior improves. The shock feature does work as I tried it on myself first before I would ever attempt to use it on my dogs. There is a lock feature on the side of the receiver that you can engage to ensure you don’t accidentally press a button when they aren’t doing anything that you want to correct and so you don’t accidentally shock them. It’s a great training tool that has worked for us. This is NOT is disciplinary tool to be used as punishment. Both collars and receivers are durable and are a good size - not too big and clunky and not too small.

I've been using this product for 2 months and in general its ok. However, there are some critical design flaws that make it unworthy of a 4-start review. In general, the button components on this remote are too delicate. The (4) main buttons on the face of the remote sit proud of the front surface, which means a minor slip or brush can trigger the collar unintentionally. The buttons should be inset, so that running your hand over the face of the remote, or even just setting it face down will not accidentally trigger the collar. There is a lock switch provided on the side of the remote, which is clunky and not very helpful when you need to give your dog training feedback in an instant. Tactile markers on each button would also greatly improve the function of the remote, as its difficult to konw that you are hitting the right button while paying attention to your dog. The top dial works ok in theory, but sticking the remote in your pocket, for example, can easily press the dial and trigger the settings mode by accident. From here the slightest twist of the dial can set the shock feature from the lowest to the highest setting, without the user realizing this!!!! This is just careless product design. The dial should not be able to go from the lowest to the highest setting in a single click. You should have to turn the dial several times in the oppsite direction to reach the highest setting. Also, the side switch should only lock the settings dial, not the whole remote. Or at least there should be another way to lock the settings dial separately. These are easy adjustments that should not effect the price, so I feel its not worth the cost despite being fairly affordable. I will say the battery life on the collar and remote are exceptional. I can leave them on for a whole week and never need to recharge. Also the range is great. These reasons alone are why I give it a 2-star rating.
