We bought this tent in November 2024 for our 2014 Nissan Frontier S and still LOVE it. Even though our truck bed is 6' long, this 5.5-5.8' tent fits it perfectly with the tailgate down. The tent has stood the test of time and *lots* of camping trips (long an short) in the mountains and on the beach. It essentially replaced our super expensive and large Big Agnes tent because the Joy Tutus is so easy to use for short getaways and requires very little time to set up. We've had no problems with it; it has quality materials and has been through rain and heavy winds without any problems (and always keeps us dry and warm). It's easy to set up and break down, especially if you've done it once or twice. I can set it up alone in the dark in 15 minutes with an extra 5 minutes on the fly...faster in daylight. I recommend setting it up once in your driveway before taking it out so you can do it more efficiently at the site. I strongly recommend running all the poles evenly into their slots and fixing green poles into the back pockets before attempting to connect the fronts. That will prevent you from over-bending the poles, especially if you are doing it alone and can complete one pole at a time. I also STRONGLY recommend paying extra for the aluminum poles because they are more forgiving if you over-bend when you are first getting used to putting the tent up. It's recommended in videos to set it up beside the truck before moving it onto the truck, but that's not always possible if, for instance, you are parked at the beach without a lot of side space. So I actually got used to assembling it while laid out in the truck bed, and I also find the truck bed method easier alone because then I don't need help moving the tent onto the truck (that's especially an issue if there's a lot of wind). It also goes up a LOT better if you make sure the large front door is about halfway unzipped (or more) so that the poles don't over-bend on one side when putting it up alone. Regarding the fly: I'm 5'4", so having a short stepladder is very handy when putting the fly on. Another tip to save you loads of time and frustration is to cinch the strap hooks up close to the edge of the tent when everything is loose and you're breaking it down, and tuck the hooks back into the nylon loop so that the they don't flop around and get caught on everything. This is especially true with the fly. If you throw the fly over the top with the hooks loose, they will catch on the poles and you'll have to climb up to relieve them. The straps and hooks are so easy to adjust that the extra 2 seconds per strap is very worth the time. Shorten the hooks before storing and setting up, and lengthen them when you ultimately need to attach the hooks to the truck. That will save you from some frustration, mostly on installing the fly. Another good habit to get into is to tie any extra-long straps together loosely just in case you need to move the truck a little after the tent is installed. You don't want to have them dangle and get caught in or under the tires. i also like this tent because everything is good quality, and I've never had any zippers threaten to fail, no snags, no leaky seams, no torn stitching, no broken straps or hooks, no broken poles....Also, the tent+poles fit back easily in to the carrying bag that has clear-to-understand sewn-in assembly instructions. The fly folds up nicely and can be clipped to the outside of the tent bag with the clipping cinch straps that make it compact to store. Another plus is that I can stand up in it. Unlike some multi-function truck tents, though, this really isn't intended to be used outside of the truck bed. i've owned very expensive tents and camping gear in my life, and this is one of my favorite tents and the cost is unbeatable for the quality. I took the time to write a good review because I really like this tent and always appreciate when people come back years later to tell me something is still lasting for them. ... show more

Love this!! used it multiple times. Easy set up, comfortable. Durable, used while it rained for a day and a half while camping and the inside never got wet or saggy. I used it for summer camping and I will be using it to camp this upcoming fall. Great quality for the price!

Fits well with our 2025 Toyota Tundra 5.5 ft bed. (Comes all the way to the tailgate). The little rain jacket was a nice touch. We have really been enjoying camping with it! We got a blow up truck bed mattress and some nice bedded padding to go on top and it’s more comfortable than some air bnb beds we’ve slept on lol. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a tent experience but who is not super excited about sleeping on the ground. The first time setup took us an hour with our bedding, but after learning the setup it’s an easily less than 15-20 Minutes to setup/ take down. We found out later all the poles are actually color coded for the tent as well which made it a lot easier once we noticed that! I wish the rain jacket had more vents, but that is my only complaint. Even had a little rain storm with the rain cover on and no leaks! Kept out mosquitos in some high mosquito areas we stayed in as well! ... show more

Great Tent!

So this one is for the folks that are a little bit older with bad knees. Being up off the ground has brought back the joys of camping. The construction of the tent with the aluminum poles seems solid and fit great in the back of the Toyota. Water proofing held up under a medium rain without issues. Pros: Knee saver! Helps keep some of the crawling critters away. Easy set up and take down. Cons: Needs a better method to protect the paint job. Maybe an opening for a heater/AC in the future. ... show more

Fits a 2021 F-150 great with lots of headroom

I got this tent to use in my 2021 Ford F-150 short bed truck. It fits the bed very well and lets me use the tailgate as part of the tent floor area. It sits on the bed sides and has an enclosed floor. This is important to me to keep any dust/dirt from the truck bed outside the tent. Some things I really like: * it is tall inside. I can stand up inside, mostly, just a bit hunched over. This is great for changing clothes in the privacy of the tent. * it comes with a rain fly. However, it seems mostly water repellent without the rain fly. When I used this tent a couple weeks ago there was a thunderstorm. It stayed completely dry inside. I would have put the rain fly on if there had been stronger wind. * it fits a full size inflatable mattress with some room to spare. I am able to keep my backpack and a few other things next to my inflatable mattress inside the tent. For occasional camping, this is great for me. I'm not looking for a permanent camper shell at this point (more expensive, I lose "truck stuff usage" utility). It's quick to set up and take down. It comes in a stuff sack bag. My only suggestion to improve it would be to have microfiber sheaths for the tie-down straps to protect the paint. ... show more

Strong Against Wind, Poor With Humidity

Pros: - easy to set up on your own - stayed up without issue against three days and nights of constant 35mph winds - 2 mesh pockets on either side and an access point for the rear truck window - nice big windows on either side - about the size of a 3-person tent, so two average sized people should fit comfortably and without issue. - bottom of the tent extends out to the edge of the tailgate, creating a great transitional area between outside and inside. I didn’t buy the awning addition, and I wouldn’t have put it up in the wind anyway, but might work well for a low-wind location. Cons: - NOT waterproof, had to wipe down the tent every morning from the fog’s condensation. - cheap plastic fastenings and connectors, broke one out of the package, but was still able to secure the strap by tying it. - zippers were low quality. The hardest part of using this tent was trying to zip the damn door shut. There could have also been more than one zipper on each zip for easier access. - design of the hooks on the secure straps was subpar. They were coated with protective rubber, but only on the tip. Did some significant scratching on the sides of my truck, which could have been averted if I’d put a cushion between the hooks and the truck, or if the hook had been fully coated. - The poles were meant to sit in the holes used for installing toolboxes and lumber bars, but my bed liner covers those holes up and it was very difficult to figure out where to rest the poles without them. Overall: Don’t buy if you’re expecting wet or humid weather, but it worked great in the wind. Easy to set up, but the zippers were a struggle. I Love It!

I thoroughly enjoy my tent. Although I only camped in it once, I was impressed how well it stood the morning breeze. The only issue I had was that one of the clasps broke and a seam on the side pulled. Although that happened on setup, it was still good. I called and sent it back.
