Description

The JF-35 sounds like a Randall on ‘roids. The gain is incredible, as you’ll see in the YouTube videos of the pedal being demo. If you want incredible gain at an affordable price, look no further. The hardest part may just be deciding between this pedal and the other stomp boxes in the same arena. Joyo has rock, metal, blues and every other tone nailed. The Pocket Metal, of course, is suited for metal and does fine in a hard rock setting as well. One really great feature is the pedal isn’t noisy at volume (other than the signal that is supposed to be distorted). That’s thanks to the quality components, such as the quarter inch input and output jacks, a clean DC power circuit (9V DC battery included) and other parts of quality including the capacitors, resistors, and of course, smooth pots (volume and tone knobs). Speaking of which, the JF-35 has a unique mid-range control adjustment, as this frequency range is of more concern in heavy metal than the highs are. Scoop or add grit, just by making a quick adjustment on the huge bright white knob. All told the JF-35 from Joyo audio gets the job done and leaves you with spending cash to invest in strings, cables and all the other essential gear that it takes to make great music. The pocket metal distortion pedal will inspire you and afford you with that modern metal crunch!

  • THEY SHOULD HAVE NAMED THIS PEDAL, "THE TINY BEAST"!!!
I have been searching for years for that ultimate, 80's distortion tone and I do believe that I have finally found it! This thing has shimmering highs and thundering lows! I am running it through my Bugera V22, all tube, 22 watt amp. This thing growls like a "tiny beast"! It sounds fantastic with single coils or humbuckers! It is very transparent and all notes and chords stay very clear. It does not get muddy, like some pedals. I like it so much, that I might buy several and put some away, just in case they quit making it or something. I have owned the Boss Metal Zone and this thing blows it away! Very simple controls make this thing a true gem. I sat down with it today and could not put my guitar down. This pedal will definitely spoil you and has amazing tone! Crazy what you get for 30 something bucks!!! Don't think about it, just buy it. You won't be sorry. ... show more

  • Save your money and if your really desperate for a better sound, get new pickups
DONT BUY THIS PEDAL! Save your money and if your really desperate for a better sound, get new pickups. Dont waste your money. If your not playing, the buzz is louder than the guitar itself.

  • Gain city !
Well after coming to the conclusion that the 3 distortion/overdrives on my board were lacking over the top gain I began the research and sound demos on YouTube and came upon pocketmetal. What I wanted was plenty of gain and fast dial ability. What I don't like in many high gain distortions is too many knobs and hate stack knobs, I like to play not over dial and on fly quick adjust. This pedal is loud, gain rich, mid knob makes it for me. The first thing I started playing when plugged in was ace of spades and nailed that tone quick. I'm not a metal player full time but have a lot of different styles in my set list. One thing is noise gate this puppy because she's hissy when not playing. On YouTube there are many great demos especially this one German guy who does some super pro demos sound wise. So if you need high gain and low price and easy tone adjustments try this puppy out. Please don't pay a penny over 30 bucks for it either, and dont get a vendor that ships from China there's plenty here in the states so short wait mo better. Buy it through the Amazon vendor cheaperpedals.com. They test before shipping which is nice! This is my third joyo all of which I like but can't comment on their durability or reliability but I hope they last awhile! Give it a go and crunch it up bros! ... show more

  • No Low-End
I will start by saying I've had some fantastic experiences with Joyo pedals in the past. Their Classic Phase is actually my favorite phase, and I've had many of their overdrives that definitely exceeded expectations, especially considering their price. This pedal not so much. Honestly I feel a bit mislead by some of the YouTube reviews I saw (not Joyo's fault to be fair), where the pedal sounded big and meaty. In reality, this thing does have quite a bit of gain, and probably wouldn't be the worst tone for solos, but there is just no bottom end. I cranked my amp's low up to 8, and it still felt flat. If the pedal included a basic tone knob alongside the Mid control this might be different, but as is there's no effective way to add bass without resorting to outside help from other EQ pedals. Try their Extreme Metal pedal, that one at least has a 3-band EQ. ... show more

  • As Shown
Great little knock off. I paired it with a Peavey 6505MH on the "clean" channel, with 5 on the gain, and this added a lot of punch to it. I actually bought this to use as the product is named. It is a pedal I keep in my bag for when I go to jam sessions with inferior equipment. Throw this in the mix and you have instant metal. ... show more

  • Killer affordable metal dist. pedal!
Simply killer pedal. This will be my go-to if I have to use pedal setup (vs. amp/rack). Great price, great quality of distortion. Great distortion while still provides great clarity of the notes. That mid knob is the key! This is my setting Volume: 12 o'clock, Dist: 1-2 o'clock, Mid: 1-2 o'clock..you still need that mid to cut through. ... show more

  • First time
So much gas of late it's truly remakable that this $30 pedal provided the most fun. Dropped to D and smiled for an hour, just pretending to know what I was doing.
