The media could not be loaded. Fireplace Heater Update. The heater is still good about one month later, but I realized that the remote works perfectly fine from about 8 ft away. The trick is to aim the remote at the center of the unit as I sit on my couch. By the way, I've gotten many compliments on the realistic look of the fire. ___________ So the fireplace in my new home needs to fixed before I can use it. That cost is $7,500 vs this heater for under $100 on sale. The heat output is so, so in my opinion, but this is infrared heat so you need to be near the heat source. The flames look good and the burning logs are not bad looking from a distance. There is a sound when the unit is turned on but it's like white noise to me. The reason for the 4 stars is the remote. It works but you need to be a foot away from the unit for it to function. If you want to do it manually the buttons are on the right hand side. This is kind of awkward if the unit sits in your fireplace. Finally, something to be aware of, the cord is on right side and fortunately it is close to an outlet. The cord is visible as you can see in the picture. Also if you have a glass door in front of the fireplace, the cord is going to be in the way if you want to close it. We have a fireplace we never burn real wood in be use of the mess and this “fire” is so pretty in that dark cold space. It completely changes the room with the glow and warmth. Wish I’d bought it sooner! Fair price too for what I received.

We bought this for ambience purposes only and it looks beautiful. I put on the heat for a bit and it works pretty well. But I am so happy I decided to buy this. The only downfall is that you have to be pretty close to it in order for the remote control to work. But I can deal with that for the price because wow! Love it! ... show more
