I purchased this item for my daughters birthday, and when we got it, she was so excited. When we started using it, we noticed that it was very sensitive to any of the buttons pressed you had to look down the entire time to use the mat. It was very frustrating to my daughter, and overall, I ended up returning it and buying a new one that connected with the TV. I would say that if you’re looking for something to just have a bit of fun, then perhaps you should purchase this but if you’re looking for your kids to actually be able to complete activities on the mat it’s probably not what you should purchase . ... show more

My 4 yr old son loves music, but really doesn't love playing games with others and is struggling with structured play in pre-k - I was hoping this would be a good way to introduce a game of rules (step/tap the circle when it lights up, and then get off - don't touch any other buttons on the mat) but with music. It was very easy to set up - I really loved how you can connect your music to it for a personalized experience!!! However, I felt the music wasn't super loud and had a bit of a static-sound. I also appreciate how it had different levels/types of games, so I was able to start with the easiest for my son and - hopefully - be able to use it for a while to come by increasing the levels/changing up the game. My son eventually liked it but would get frustrated when he kept standing on the lit-up circle too long and then the machine thought he was getting the dance wrong bc he wasn't jumping to the next lit-up so the music turned off. But that's a "him-problem" - not a reflection on the toy. I certainly had fun showing him how to use it! I wouldn't object if it had an "adult level" to make it even more crazy fun for the whole family :) ... show more

I work with adults with special needs. Dancing is one of their favorite things to do on breaks. I thought this would be fun for the more physically advanced folks. I have looked at these mats several times but never got one because most of them have cartoon characters or simply look childlike, which is something we try to avoid when purchasing for our adults, even if they have developmental delays. Easy enough to set up. It does take batteries. I had a little trouble connecting the Bluetooth. Once connected, the music sometimes seems muffled. The pace is also too quick for most of my special friends, which is not necessarily a problem with the item but it is something to keep in mind, depending on who you are ordering for. ... show more

In the universe of kiddie toys, I thought I'd seen it all. But when I stumbled upon the "Jazzy Jamboree Dance Mat," it was as if someone had remixed Santa's workshop with a sprinkle of Studio 54. The mat arrived in a psychedelic box that screamed '70s dance floor but in a charming, age-appropriate way. It promised an electronic dance experience for 3-12 year olds, a range I initially found slightly ambitious. Can a toy provide the same level of exhilaration for a wide-eyed toddler as for a nearly-teen, armed with a nuanced appreciation of rhythm and Bluetooth capability? I must admit, dear reader, I had my doubts. The first challenge was setup, but thankfully, my Ph.D. in Toy Assembly wasn't necessary. The dance mat connected seamlessly to our family’s Bluetooth, and the built-in music had our living room pulsating with fresh beats in no time. When it came time for testing, my panel of discerning judges ranged from my enthusiastic 4-year-old, with dance moves straight from Planet Boogie, to my 10-year-old, who can bust out Fortnite dances faster than you can say "floss." The mat lit up like a Christmas tree in a disco ball factory, turning our average Tuesday into an impromptu dance party. The younger judges took to the lights, music, and interactive play like fish to water, while the older ones relished the novelty of orchestrating their own dance-off with the variable modes and levels. The mat, true to its claim, transcended the age gap with the grace of a professional cha-cha slider. For the cherry on top, the mat turned out to be surprisingly durable. It withstood even the most enthusiastic (read: potentially destructive) dance moves, proving its worth in a home where the play-to-life ratio of most toys falls drastically short.
