First off, Happy Thanksgiving 2012! I am in the kitchen baking pies and had to write a quick review of this little gizmo while I'm thinking of it. This is my second egg separator - the first (fancy stainless with a silicon cup) was a disaster. The slots weren't large enough and I couldn't get it to work once. This little item? I clipped it to a cup, 6 eggs later, boom, perfect egg whites. So Easy. No jiggling the cup to try to get the egg whites to come down into it. It worked perfectly without me having to "learn the hard way" with a few mistakes - literally 6 eggs and 6 perfect white separations. I read a lot of reviews on Amazon and decided on this one because (a) it's cute and (b) it's cheap so if it doesn't work then no big wooop and (c) all the positive reviews. All egg separators are NOT the same....get this one, it works. So the expensive one is going into the trash - and this one becomes a permanent part of my kitchen utensil drawer. So I have developed a new interest in Paleo baking lately :) I did not have any equipment or utensils needed for baking since I had never baked before so I recently decided to purchase a few basic utensils that would make my baking life easier. I tried a recipe a few days ago that called for separating eggs and I tried to do it with my hands and it was a big mess! So I went on Amazon in search of an egg separator and saw this adorable little guy. I purchased it and received it yesterday. I used it for the first time this morning and it worked WONDERFULLY!!!! It was PERFECT. I was able to separate 4 eggs perfectly, no complaints, no mistakes, just easy and simple. My boyfriend and son also loved the design and thought it was adorable. I am thinking of purchasing other kitchen utensil from this same design so that I can display them in my kitchen, this is so adorable and works so great! I am a satisfied customer :) ... show more

I like to cook and when my nieces are over, they like to help me. I separate my eggs just using the egg shell halves, going back and forth, allowing the white to drop down into a bowel while the yolk stays in the shell... Not too hard. Sometimes the yolk breaks, but that's a pretty rare happening. My 8 year old niece LOVES to remove the yolk from the white. But, it's hard for her to do it with the egg shells. She's getting better, but when I saw this product was available, I just had to get it for her and make her life easier (and my kitchen less messy!). This works great! As far as egg separators go this works okay, it's inexpensive, as well as cute. I like that it clips on the edge of your bowl as long as the edge isn't too thick. You crack an egg into his belly & if it doesn't go right through just jiggle him a bit to help separate the yolk. It works well most of the time, but sometimes the yolk does slip through with the white. That doesn't happen often but it's best to put your eggs into a separate bowl so you can fish out any yolks that fall in. I don't use it every day, I use it when I bake. It's just one of those little helpers to make tedious jobs go faster, like when I need to separate a dozen eggs for a cake. I wouldn't put this in the dishwasher, I wash it in hot soapy water. I've had it 5 years & it still looks brand new. It's actually cheaper now than when I bought it. ... show more

I made Chillie Rellenos for the first time and needed an egg separator other than my wife who likes to show her skills in this art despite the fact it takes forever. In the time it takes her to separate one egg pouring it back and forth, this delightful tool did six. The feet are not just for aesthetic pleasure, they act as grips for the side of the bowl into which you want your egg whites to go. The whites dropped into the measuring cup within seconds and I quickly cracked and poured another egg into the Separator. Within two minutes, I had the egg whites ready to mix into foam and my dog had some yolks scrambled and ready to go into his food dish for the next four feedings. There were many separators on Amazon from which to choose, but this one was Prime Eligible and came at a low price and I love it. It is easy to clean, small for storage, and when I teach my grandkids how to make banana pudding and lemon meringue pie the way my grandmother and aunts did, it will even be fun for them to look at and use. And I'm talking REAL pudding and pie, not this from a box stuff. ;) We do it old school. :) Don't waste your money folks, this is all you'll need unless you're doing duck, emu, or ostrich eggs... and don't laugh, I've seen all of those at the Washington DC area Whole Foods. ... show more

This does a great job of separating the yolk from the egg white. I place the egg separator on a measuring cup and the separator has a slot that ensures it stays put so you can use both hands to crack the egg. I then crack the egg into the separator and 50% of the egg white drops into the measuring cup. The other 50% wants to "hang on" to the yolk so you have to pull up on the separator and kind of jiggle it around until the remaining egg white drops into the measuring cup. Then I discard the yolk and dump the egg white into another bowl...and that's it. Works Nicely! ... show more
