My only gripe is the case. I got this to have all items in one place including tripod and grade rod. The case for this kit though is huge, hard to maneuver in and out of a truck and weighs a ton. The case itself is a far cry from a Pelican. As heavy as it is, one drop and the hinges or latches are likely gone. I returned and got the same kit without the tripod and grade rod. That Johnson kit comes with a MUCH lighter and more manageable case that will survive trauma. I bought the Johnson tripod (a different and better model than the one in the case) and grade rod separately. Even buying a tripod/grade rod shoulder-strap case on amazon It turned out cheaper. ... show more

was expecting the grade rod to be marked in tenths of an inch, instead it is marked in eighths of an inch, which works just fine actually but not what i was anticipating. everything in this kit is really really nice and it is super accurate. i would buy this again with no hesitation.

It’s a great tool but the kit with the tripod is not great. The bottom of the laser is such that it does not fit securely to the top of the tripod. An adapter plate or something would be nice, or fix the design of the laser. It’s great that it has all that bump protection, but someone missed when it came to tripod compatibility, even using the one provided with the kit… if it weren’t for that, and seemingly the front charge port is giving me a fit, maybe, id give this kit 5 stars ... show more
