This was not as sturdy as another I have at my house, but it was sturdy enough for a woman. If someone is heavy they would probably want a bariatric one. The nice thing about this is it was easy enough to move out of the way when I wasn't using the bathroom, for others to still use the toilet in the guest bathroom. I have used this seat for 5 months. First as a bedside potty then as a shower chair and it proved to be extremely stable and easy to use. Now I use it as a seat in my bathroom, when I need one. I dried the seat off after every shower so that I didn't risk it rusting so don't know if it would rust if I hadn't taken this step. Fit easily in my shower, but I have a large shower, so be sure to measure your shower door to be sure it will fit. Mostly, the commode works the way it is described-easy to assemble, easy to adjust up and down, easy to use over a toilet as a raised seat with arms for support when using. It even feels sturdy when I’m sitting on it. However, my hips get a bit scuffed by the arms in the going up and down. Also, the arms are in the way and I cannot wipe while sitting. I do weigh almost 300 lbs. and wear women's plus size 24 pants. It is advertised to hold 350 lbs. It might. But the width of the frame is not wide enough for completely comfortable use up to 350 lbs. FYI (not incl in my review grade and prob not medically safe, lol) for those wanting to use this in the shower as well: It will not fit in a standard tub facing the faucet. When turning it parallel inside the tub, it will fit, but you will not have any room for your legs. I used it a couple of different ways to be able to get a quick shower in, standing outside the tub so I could use the bar to get in and out and having it part in and part out of the tub so I could sit while showering. ... show more

    • Very thin plastic ring and lid.

We received today and put together in about 5 minutes. Instructions are very minimal but helps a little. I weigh 155 pounds and set on the ring and it bent. My full weight would have broken it. I will have to make some spacers to put between the frame and ring before using. I do not think there is any way a 350 pound person could us this product without some serious modification to the ring or it would break. It is a good thing I have a week before my surgery so I can make it usable for myself. The height adjustment is good and the frame seems strong enough for me. Again I don't think it would be safe for a 350 pound person as rated. We get what we pay for. ... show more
