I absolutely love this laser. Long range, accurate, easy to use. Like all lasers it is very delicate. One drop outside of the case on hard ground and it’s game over. However the case is good too, it’s strong enough to stand on and plenty of storage inside for accessories and batteries. However I wish the case had a slot build into it to store the paperwork for the laser. However you get what you pay for, is unit is worth the money. ... show more

I only recently got mine and wanted to say I did get the RL-H5A as ordered. This appears to be the 'successor' (or at least the equivalent) of the RL-H4C subsequent to Topcon separating their positioning business unit. I checked the accuracy out of the box and it was better than 1/8" at around 150 feet. Probably more accurate than that, I just didn't think it would be a good idea to go stand in my neighbors yard with the measuring rod. The receiver bracket has a spirit level and it clamped on my Bosch measuring rod just fine. I like that you can set it on the tripod just eyeballing the level and it will self level - even when the mounting surface is obviously cattywampus. If it is so extreme ( >5 degrees) it can't self level, the LED lights will let you know that the tripod should be leveled enough for the unit to take care of the rest. If the unit is bumped, it will blink lights for a minute and then begin the self leveling procedure automatically. ... show more

This is Well Built, Easy to Use Right out of the Hard Case. The case has storage to hold an extra set of batteries if needed. Also has molded spot storage for the LS-B10 machine mounted laser receiver. When I ordered this. The shipper sent this FEX-EX with required signature. A++ For that. Topcon makes a great quality product. I have used this for at least 40 hours on the same batteries and it’s still going strong. Update: May 1st,2019 still using same rechargeable battery they say 60 hours but I’m at 80 hours of use and it’s still holding up. Maybe cause it’s a new battery. No complaints. I keep a set of D-Cells handy, I really want to see how long it can go. This has made installing French drains so easy. Setting up my concrete forms and setting a 2 degree slope. This beats a string any day and I don’t need two people anymore with transit. ... show more

Not sure how I got along without this for so long. I no longer waist time laying out level reference lines with masonry string and I don't have to climb in and out of the trench to take measurement. A quick check with the measuring rod and you know if your on grade or not. It took no time to learn and was easy to calibrate when new. I just don't understand why I waited so long to get one.
