As a 12-year veteran soccer mom, I can speak from experience in saying that the Joe Shade is the BEST sideline umbrella! Great on grass and turf, and even up in stadium stands because you can adjust the tripod base so it's narrow enough to fit between the bleachers (although I would usually have to hold onto it to keep it fully upright when in the stands--definitely worth it for the shade!). On the sideline it offered enough shade for both my husband and myself to sit under it with our beach chairs. Super easy to set up, break down and carry from field to field.     • A great sunshade for soccer season!
I ordered this sunshade for us to enjoy the fall soccer season here in FL and keep the sun off of us. It arrived in a very timely manner and in it's carry case. Once I took the sunshade out of the carry case as it comes in 2 pieces (the stand part and the umbrella part), I could not fit it back int the case! I was frustrated as you can imagine, and wrote immediately to Amazon to express my displeasure. It was a Friday evening and my phone rang with a number I did not recognize from IL. It was the President of JoeShade himself (Dave Shober) calling me to inquire/trouble shoot about my displeasure with the case that accompanied the shade. He listened to my complaint about the case and immediately told me that there had been issues with some of the cases being too small for the SunShades to fit into (without an absolute struggle) and that he was going to send me a new case to correct the problem. I was so impressed that he would call me on a Friday evening to rectify the situation. True to his word, a new case arrived in the mail a short time later, proper size and the SunShade fits perfectly in it, without a struggle. The Sunshade itself is exactly what we wanted. It is lightweight and easy to transport. As I stated above, it comes in two (2) pieces, the base and the umbrella. It is easy to assemble (even for 1 person). There are 3 anchors that come with it as well to anchor the umbrella to the ground to prevent it from tipping over in a windy day. You will want to use these as it does tip easily, even in a light wind. The umbrella can be angled to keep the sun off of you. The material that the umbrella is made of seems durable and is the same material that the case is made of. I like that it fits easily into the trunk or back of the car. For the money, this is a really good buy and you cannot beat the customer service (that Amazon) as well as JoeShades offers. ... show more

    • Worth the money, So wonderful for the summer.
It has held up well for the summer and still looks great. I did not test it out in the wind though, and I didn't leave it out.(except one or two times) I love how easy it is to set up and I don't know why I did not get one years ago. I used it in our back yard, at the river, at the park, everywhere. My friend recommended this to me and I am soo glad she did. It was perfect to set up for my baby so I could still be outside with my 4 yr old. I love how portable it is. I would just move it all around our yard depending on where they were playing (sandbox, kiddie pool, porch) I also love the tilt feature I can block the sun at any angle. During bbqs we even put it in our patio table to give us an umbrella as we don't have one of those yet (it was between purchasing this and a patio umbrella) and I am so glad I went with this. (Granted it wasn't big enough to cover our whole table as it isn't a patio umbrella size--but it still helped a lot in the afternoon. Even IF it only lasts a year or two it is well worth it, however we used it all summer and it still looks brand new. ... show more

    • Fantastic portable shade!
Finally had to get one for myself after experiencing how easy it was to set up and move around, and the wonderful shade it provided at soccer and baseball games! A must have for kid sports!! The stakes to hold it into the ground are wonderful and necessary for even mildly windy days, but work quite well. A friend had this and another had a wondershade, which is a little cheaper, but the material of the umbrella seems thicker and more durable on this one than the wondershade one. Would definitely recommend this over others for its durability, ease of set-up and portability! ... show more

    • Easy and light to use, great at blocking the sun
Like most on here, I bought this for a little sun protection while watching my kids play their sports. So far through 1 4 day tournament in Phoenix AZ (very hot and sunny) and multiple Saturdays and Sundays since this umbrella has done its job. The whole umbrella comes in two pieces, a stand and the umbrella part. the package is light to carry although, like other have mentioned the bag is not put together well. My strap tore off the bag within the first 20 feet of using it. The bag itself is made of a thick material that would seem to last long, but the strap tore off way to easy under normal use. The stand is mostly metal, with some plastic on the moving parts, the umbrella frame is plastic, which I guess it what makes it lighter to carry. I have actually used this a lot in the few months I have owned it and even though there are some plastic parts the quality seems to be there. As for the umbrella it is made from a decently thick material with a sun blocking coating on the inside. This has been stress tested in the AZ sun and I can say it does its job of keeping the rays out. Much easier to use than an easy-up I only removed a star because of the faulty bag strap. The umbrella is very easy to assemble and take down to store. I had an issue with the stand so reached out to customer service. They responded quickly and solved the problem without any hassle. Definitely buy from this company!!
