Programming touch pad was easy. I like the back up key which will unlock it regardless of power or code. The back up power packet seems unnecessary. The upper separate lock box is also unnecessary - I would have much preferred a 3rd shelf. It is fairly deep and tall. Not especially heavy - I duck walked it in myself so an earnest thief will be able to take it. The whole inside seems to be plastic, including inserts in the bolt receivers. The unlock dial is plastic. I am disappointed in the shelf - it is flexible and I can tell it will not take much weight as it is held up with cheap-o inserts like cheap bookcase shelving. I may remove it and put a stronger shelf in. It is not advertised as fireproof so I bought bags for the important documents. I received the 4 cubic foot safe today. It was packaged very well. I was able to get the top of the package off and take the insulation out so I could slide the safe out of the box onto a quilt. I thought they forgot the instructions and I had no idea how to get into the safe so Google was my friend. I had keys but was clueless to see where to use them and a video showed me, so I open the safe and found the directions. The directions were pretty simple but, the codes were not working when I was trying to set them which included the key code and the fingerprint code. Of course I had already installed the batteries. I went back and googled the safe with questions and answers and reviews and found that many people had the same problem including somebody who was sending the safe back because they couldn't set the codes. I read where people said to hit the red button two times and that worked for them to get the codes done and I tried everything, but it just was not working. I decided to pull the batteries out and put them back in and I mean just the plastic piece with them already in because I had the batteries properly inserted. I was hoping a reset might take place just like restarting a phone or a computer. It worked because I put in my key code and it worked the first time and then I did my fingerprint and it worked the first time after I pulled the battery casing out and put it back in. I hope this helps someone else because I was getting pretty discouraged especially after reading that other people had the same problem. The safe is heavy duty and I actually thought it was going to be fireproof and waterproof, but when I read after the fact, I realized that was for much more expensive safes that I had checked into while shopping for this one that were fireproof and waterproof. I just got the safe today and so far I think that it is going to be just fine. I usually don't do a review the first day but I wanted to share about how I got the codes set so it could possibly help others. I would recommend this safe to a family member or friend because I think it's a good value for the price. ... show more

first off dial is plastic and were the lock bolts go in are also plastic and parts of were u type in combo are also plastic i hope those arnt week areas didn't come with a back up battery usually when u mean fire proof it means concrete lined its 1/4 steel walls bags are probably are what's fire proof thinking of returning it ... show more

I had an issue with the safe. The company ask me if I was willing to do the repair by myself which I tried to do. When it did not work they gave me a discount which was larger then I had anticipated. They then asked that I send several videos which I did. When it turned out the problem was something I could not fix by myself they refund the total cost to me and said I did not have to return the safe. They were amazing. They walked me through each process and went above and beyond to stand by their product. I have been using this product for the last few weeks, I just recently got married and have been storing our important documents inside of it, as well as some other valuables. It came in a box, it was easily picked up by me and able to be brought up a set of stairs. The installation was quick, although I did not anchor it down. Setup of the keypad was pretty straightforward and simple, and I like how it came with an external battery pack as a backup if we ever needed it. The fireproof bag that it comes with is also a good plus, it was able to fit a lot of important papers including 3 passports. The safe feels pretty secure and high quality, definitely something we wanted as we want to protect the documents from fire. I’ve developed a pros and cons list from my last few weeks of usage. Pros: • Easy setup, and easy to use the keypad and biometrics • Good build quality, the lock and door seem to be of good quality, I would trust my documents to be safely secured in there in case of a fire. Cons • Did come with some extremely minor scratches, it’s possible I may have caused them, however it’s nothing I can really tell unless I’m looking for it. The safe itself is nice other than the lining which is basically wallpaper and will tear easily. The set up is kicking my butt. After giving up multiple times I finally got both doors to open and set the codes. The manual talks about pushing the RED button at the BACK of the safe to set the code. After reading one review I learned that the red button on the back of the safe is actually a GREEN button on the INSIDE of the door on the bottom safe. I’m still unable to open the top safe using the code I set. I set two codes: a USER code and a MASTER code which are different from each other. I’m not sure if they should both be the same number or what…every time I try to open the upper safe the alarm eventually starts screaming at me. This is a work in progress. I haven’t won the fight yet! Update: I finally reset both the User code and the Master code to the same number and now I can unlock the safe. Everything is figured out! Whew! ... show more
