Whatever material this is made of is thin enough to lay nice and flat but thick enough to feel substantial and well made. It arrived rolled up and laid on the floor smooth and flat with zero wrinkles or creases right out of the packaging. There was a light chemical odor which has dissipated quickly. The print, including the long fur of the “mane” is a 3D print and very well done. I was aware of this when I made my purchase and it was actually a feature I like. It’s important to me that guests know it’s NOT a real zebra hide. This doesn’t look tacky at all, which was my main concern and why it was important to me that the seller offered free returns. I love this and will not be returning it! I haven’t cleaned this yet, but if I run into any issues when I do I will edit this review ... show more

This rug is beautiful and very lifelike. I am an interior decorator and everyone thinks this rug is a real Zebra Hyde. I have had one under my coffee table in my living room for over 3 years and it still looks great. This is a tremendous value.

I, too, wasn't quite sure a Zebra Print rug was going to be any great shakes. And, yes, make no mistake about it, that's all these are: Zebra Print rugs, though Zebra Print MAT might be a slightly more accurate description of what we're talking about here. Any yet, as many have already pointed out here, they're pretty sensational. That bit of mane really is amazingly convincing. And the rests does a remarkably good job of evoking actual Zebra hide, too. Thanks in no small part, I think, to the very soft, almost suede-like material. Not exactly fur, of course. But that's part of what makes these so striking. Still suggests it, all the same. In fact, I'd go so far as to say these far outdo the real thing! Just check out the real one's selling for thousands on eBay. Believe me, most of 'em make what you're looking at gruesomely plain: a flayed animal, for Pete's sake! Jeez. Makes stuffing the poor critter seem like the height of respect, by comparison. Generally, the real ones are "felted," however. So I'm going to put mine on such a backing to kind of "frame" it. Beside's bulking it up--yes, they're a little on the skimpy side, comparatively speaking and all--suspect it'll further bump up the piece's already pretty darn impressive verisimilitude, for the full, "I Love You Alice B. Toklas" effect, by which I mean the one in the old Peter Sellers movie, of course--both before, and after, those riotous brownies. ... show more

I bought the zebra design 5x6 to layer on top of an oriental rug. It added just the eclectic feel I was looking for! The quality is great, the coloring looks real and it lays flat on top of the other rug. I used this 5x6 mat as a runner for my dining room table. I saw this idea in a very high end furniture store once and thought it was so eye catching. Of course they used a real hide and it was over $2,000! This one feels very soft to the touch so when you are sitting at the table it feels nice. I did have to trim the mat itself (only a few inches) because it hung over the table too much in two places. Using a sharp pair of scissors made it very easy. Also, I tackled the issue of the hair only being printed on. I cut a one inch strip of faux fur and glued it into place over the printed hair. After some trimming and styling, it made the whole mat look so much more realistic! I get so many compliments!! ... show more
