  • ANC is very much over rated (Broke under a month)
UPDATE 9/28/20: Just gets better!!! This morning I took a conference call and my Skype Business software was freaking out. Come to find out it was not hearing my MIC. I thought it was odd, checked my settings still no mic. Unplugged the dongle and plugged it back in, no mic. Double checked, red light was off on the mic and it was fully down. Rebooted, still no mic. Unplugged it, removed it from the device manager, rebooted, plugged it back in. Still nothing. When into the device and set it to "listen to this device" which bypasses all software, still nothing. Got out my laptop I use for travel which this headset has never been hooked up too. Plugged it in, detected the JBL 800 Chat/Game just fine. Set the device to "Listen to this device" still nothing.. Flipped the mic up and down a few dozen times and verified the red light was not on, still nothing. So less than a month and the mic is fried. To be honest I only used the mic maybe a few times a day and when not using the headset its on a stand. There is zero reason that the mic should not be functioning... Incredibly frustrated with the JBL products. Their software is horrible and apparently their hardware breaks in less than a month of less than average usage. UPDATE 9/18/20: So been using these for a week or so now. For long gaming sessions, or even wearing during work hours, they can get a little uncomfortable but that is a personal thing. The dual connection with 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth is done very poorly. First off when you power on the headset it won't connect to your phone. You have to unlock your phone, go into your settings, and connect the headset. For me, this breaks the entire point of having bluetooth on the headset. My phone will auto connect to everything else just fine when I turn on the device. Also the headphones will alert you when your connections drop out. So if you are using the headset for your phone and say walking around the house, you will get the disconnect sound CONSTANTLY in your ears. Back in my bedroom is like right on the edge of the 2.4Ghz so the alert would not stop making trying to talk on the phone impossible. Only way I've found around this is to pull the dongle out of your PC, not something you want to do just to talk on the phone. On the same note, the range of these headphones seem kind of lack luster. I have a pair of ASTRO A50 (Gen1, like 12yrs old) prior to these. I can walk around my entire house and even out in my backyard with zero issues. The JBL's however have connection issues the second I walk out my door. Mind you, the door is right next to my desk where my PC is. I can knock on my backdoor while sitting in my chair so there is no excuse for it to be dropping. As I mentioned above, I also have issues with the connection when moving around my house. Think these are good for someone who is stationary at their desk. But the entire point of wireless so so you can get up and move around your space while using them. My 12yr old beat up Astro's out perform these as far as connection goes by a long shot. The fact that the bluetooth won't auto connect is a major down fall. =================== Okay, so I've owned two of the higher end JBL headsets, the Quantum One and the JBL 800. I originally bought the Quantum One and had all sorts of issues with the calibration mic actually working and getting detected. On top of that the ANC (Active Noise CANCELLATION) seemed to be very lack luster. I also had an issue where the multi button was doing the opposite of what the manual, FAQ's and JBL support said it should be doing so they recommend replacing the unit. Due to some issues out of my control, I was not able to get another Quantum One so I got the JBL 800 instead. Once again, the software for this headset was an absolute nightmare. Trying to update the firmware of the 2.4Ghz dongle and headset would result in an Update Error time and time again. I tried multiple things to get it to work and nothing would allow the headset to update. After trying multiple things I decided to use a different USB C cable. Device updated without any issues using a USBC cable from my GoPro.... Unacceptable!!! Now back to the discussion of the ANC. ANC was a main factor to be buying these as I need something to get rid of background noise when I'm working from home. At the time of writing this I am listing to music at a normal volume and I can hear every key press on my keyboard. Can still hear kids talking in the other room and the dog drinking his water from his bowl. It does lower the "white noise" of my AC unit running. If you have ANC on with no sound playing through the headphones you can still hear just fine. I have a cheap pair of $80 over the ear ANC Bluetooth headphones. I can put those on with no music playing and I can't hear my keyboard or even my kids in the other room. The ANC on the JBL 800 and the Quantum One is ANR (Active Noise REDUCTION) and not ANC in my opinion. Now as far as build quality goes, I would say its average. These are JBL's flagship wireless headphones and I would assume the build quality would be close to the Quantum One but its not. The volume adjustment wheels feel VERY cheap. The wheel feels loose at the high volume and then gradual gets tighter (more resistance) as you turn it down. Just feels like a very cheap plastic wheel you would see on something from the dollar store. The same is for the game/voice volume wheel, no "feel" to it when you are using it and very cheep feeling. The overall band build and headset also seems to be about average. I think they would be fine but I personally don't think the build quality reflects the price tag. Far as sound, I think that is very personal to people. I find the sound to be very good and actually pretty darn close to the audio of the Quantum One headphones. Personally I think the audio from these above average for the price range that these fall into. Would I buy them again... Guess it depends on what you are wanting to get from your headset. If you want ANC on a pair of gaming headsets I think I would look around at other options. If ANC is a secondary feature you want then the 800's might work for you. ... show more

  • Best wireless headset IMO
-Well, after 2 months of looking for a headset i finally found one i love!! especially because of the sound quality even on console (most headsets sound terrible if you are not using their software) but these sound awesome. -RGB is awesome on these, you can customize RGB in the software (no reason to leave RGB on 24/7) -Lightweight and super comfortable -My friends on discord think I'm talking through my yeti but I'm wireless! -Cant hear my GF asking me to do dishes Cons -cant charge and use at the same time -not comfortable for glasses -Hope this makes sense, but if you have a ton of hair this headset IS NOT FOR YOU. with my glasses on it creates a gap allowing airflow to allow the drivers to move freely creating a horrible sound (like a blown speaker) with my glasses off my bald head seals the earcups creating quality sound. super weird. ... show more

  • Nice basic audio with Bluetooth. May rate UHF/Wi-Fi operation later, but have not tried it yet
I didn’t buy mine for gaming. I bought them for business use. I need a good noise canceling headset to work with teams/WebEx collaboration and also to connect to my smart phone when I am working in computer centers. I would give these 4 1/2 or five stars if they connected more easily to my laptop for WebEx. I am having a problem with the microphone. No problem when connected to the smart phone. Bluetooth mode only so far. I will try the Dongle soon ... show more

  • Don't buy this unless you're getting it for PC!!!
Color: Black Size: QUANTUM 400
If you're buying these for consoles I'd consider a hard pass. The only thing that makes this "very inconsistent" headset any better than a cheaper headset from Astro or Turtle Beach is the Quantum Sound feature that can only be accessed through an app on PC. You also lose all RGB functionality and quite frankly plugging into the 3.5 mm jack of a controller for sound is pointless. No equalizing. Just flat raw sound. Also the ear cups created a suction effect for me. Soft but... ... show more

I am amazed with this headset. now it will Drain if you used the lights on the headset but other then that.....Best headset ever. when you dont use the lights, it will last for 14 hours, but with lights, maybe 8-10 hours? but still. BAD ASS. BEST HEADSET EVER 2021! Thank you! ... show more

  • Great, except when it's not
I use them everyday at work for the last 3 months. I wanted something to connect to both my computer and cell phone bluetooth. Very comfortable But... It connects automatically everytime to my computer when powering them up, however I have to reconnect everytime with my phone via bluetooth. It has good active and passive noise canceling through the earmuffs. However the mic is lousy and still picks up everything else in the room The volume and button wheels are excessive. And W10 drivers load backwards requiring adjustments ... show more

  • Sadly a no from me crackling
I'm coming from Kraken Soundcore Wyze Althouggt very comfortable and mic was good in Skype and TeamSpeak, the volume was not loud enough the sound was sub par for sure What broke the deal for me was the crackling noise in both earpieces when walking, I have no idea what that is about, all other shortcomings could have been addressed by EQ and Firmware but not this. The whole reason for me to go wireless is so I can be flexible during dj session. ... show more
