These are some of the most efficient speakers on the market, with 3 ohm resistance and 92dB sensitivity. I did not add an amp to the 1991 head unit, which produces just 12 watts per channel at low-distortion levels - and with this speaker setup, I don't need an amp to get great sound loud enough you'd have to shout to converse with your passenger. Sound improvement over the prior setup - which included stock separates in front and a prior owner's upgrade in rear - was substantial. But to be fair to the JBL's, if you added a small amp you'd get a lot of bass from this set. Fit-wise, these speakers are a fairly conservative buy, smaller than higher-end 5 1/4's on the market but still a tight fit for older Euro compact and subcompact cars. Shallow depth enables fitment into smaller speaker holes but in some small cars the openings may need a little modification. Woofer cone is much bigger than many 5 1/4" speakers - JBL really uses all the available space inside the mounting frame. Woofer lip is fairly big, allowing maximum throw to push out the sound waves; the big magnet and coil can use the whole throw too. This also means you may need to modify your stock speaker covers, as any OEM speaker of the same size will have a smaller speaker element and little if any protrusion. ... show more

These are a very nice sounding product. When paired with bigger rear speakers like 6x9’s you definitely can’t beat it. Very clear and handles bass better than a normal car speaker.

Just over all not a good deal JBL used to be one of the best ( behind JL audio) speakers out but something has changed in the quality not a good sound. I wasn’t looking for bass just a clean crisp sound and I didn’t find it here. Dot down the money on these go with JL audio they still are the best
