    • Crisp, clear, and clean.
Like other JBL products the highs are not TOO bright but just enough to let you know it’s there. The selectable frequencies (I.e bass, mid, treble) are mellow, not over the top; bleeding into other frequencies causing a muddy, bass lacking, muffed sound. The power rating is very conservative yet forgiving. Perfect for upgrading your factory speakers. You won’t loose clarity with these as it doesn’t require wattage in extreme excess of a factory radio. However, louder with amplified power. The sweet spot for these is 75-90 watts. The passive crossover will rob some of the wattage so it’s best to be mindful if buying these in addition to an aftermarket amplifier. They have a +3 or 0db option. 0db works fine and balances the time alignment just right between the woofer and tweeter. I do not recommend these in union with a crazy 3k watt subwoofer set up. You can, but you will loose clarity, depth and sharpness. This is a really killer of a set for someone looking for a factory looking install with a crisp, clean, and deep sounding musicals. ... show more

    • Amazing sound quality for the price!
This review is for the GTO 609c 6.5” component set. I am amazed at the quality of sound these speakers make! I replaced a 5 year old set of Rockford Fosgate power 6.5” coaxial speakers with these in my 3rd Gen Honda CR-V(2010). I was actually pretty satisfied with the sound from the RF coaxials,but have been really wanting to try a component set for better sound. I am running one Punch P3 12” sub and the bass just really overpowered the mids and highs. I mounted the tweeters in the sail panels (surface mount) and put the crossovers inside the door panels. As other reviews have mentioned the tweeters are tiny! Don’t let that discourage you though..these things really sing! I am really impressed with the range of sound these speakers reproduce. I’m not putting a lot of bass to these due to having a subwoofer but they still have a nice midrange punch. These are also currently running only off my Pioneer head unit at approx 22W Rms. I plan to amplify these soon and I’m sure the sound will be even more amazing! Overall the quality and sound that these speakers make is fantastic at this price point. If you want a great sounding component set without breaking the bank..buy these already!! *Update to review!* Finally got around to installing amp on these and WOW! Not only do they get loud but the clarity and detail is amazing even at low to moderate volume. The amp is a JBL GX-A602 2 channel (60wx2 RMS) This is also a great little amp that puts out a good amount of power for running a component set and its small footprint makes mounting easy...another great JBL product! ... show more

    • Trust me these are a great speaker. JBL 6.5 component set
I've been doing car audio for over 30 years and these component sets are legit and the performance for cost is unmatched. The midbass response is excellent and the lower midrange is very accurate. The tweeters are good but not world beaters. But considering the price, and the performance that is given, I can nothing but say these are more than worth the money. I originally had them installed to just a 22 watts rms JVC head unit and they more than exceeded my expectations. I have since added a 4 channel amplifier to them and they are still more than outperforming their price. I've read many of the 1 star reviews and I want someone who is thinking about buying these to disregard those reviews. Some people absolutely do not know how to install or treat a speaker properly, but will always blame the product and not themselves. I've literally installed hundreds of car audio systems and there is a total lack of understanding on how music should be played. Just because a stereo volume control maxes out at 50 does not mean it is ok to listen to music at max signal and max distortion levels. If you're one of those guys, then there will never be a speaker that's going to make you happy. ... show more

    • Durable and predictable
I think the Rockford fosgate prime speakers had more of a full tone that I was looking for on a budget but these are comparable in value. They sound precise and they are very durable with the speaker guards and outside metal cage. They look great from the speaker guard looking outwards, and they function well and are very durable. They fit like any other 6.5” speaker and I had no issues installing. I loved that it came with crossovers and tweeters, that made the purchase worth it. My professional opinion: If you are looking for speakers, find a speaker shop that has a display case of different brands of speakers you can listen to, and find the brand that you like the most.     • Best 6 1/2 inch speakers for the money
I had Polk audio speakers prior to these. They were not cheap and were highly rated and sounded good. I couldn’t put the power to them that I wanted to so after doing a ton of research I bought these. HUGE difference in sound quality and volume! It’s like my system was asleep and these JBL’s woke it up! They can handle much more RMS power than anything else in this price range. The midrange speaker is solid and stiff and produces good bass for the size. The tweeter is tiny but it puts out more sound than the 3inch Skar tweeters I have the paired with. And the highs are crystal clear even at high volume. It’s hard to get distortion out of these speakers. Best 6.5 inch speaker for the money. Component is the way to go. And I have no complaints about the GTO 929 6x9’s and the JBL stadium amp I have them on. You will not regret buying this JBL product.
