I bought two of the generally well reviewed JBL Flip 5s last week. The intent was to use them as a stereo pair. I have a similarly sized and similarly priced pair of bluetooth speakers from Remax that I have owned for about a year and expected the JBLs to be an upgrade. When I bought the Remax speakers I set them up once for stereo mode. And when I power them up they automatically pair and are ready for stereo use which is very convenient. I expected the JBLs to behave similarly. To my disappointment I found that the JBLs needed to be connected to one another using Partyboost each time they are powered on. Although this is reasonably easy, it is rather inconvenient. I have also found battery life to be shorter than anticipated. Sound quality is on par with the Remax speakers. ... show more

The case pictured and described is not the case it comes with. The case is way too large and the speaker just flops around inside. It’s a lie. Moreover, I can’t tell the difference between this and the flip 4 I bought a few years ago. I’m sad I bought this.

    • Wonderful sound quality at a reasonable cost.
I’ve had other Bluetooth speakers that sounds like a tin can. I accidentally came across these and knowing JBL products have I had to have it. I’ve had so many ask me about the speaker because of the sound quality coming from such a small speaker. Actually bought my best friend one for her birthday because she kept talking about mine.     • This is the best little bluetooth speaker!
We have had the Flip 3, the Flip 4 and now the Flip 5. Each one has been amazing and we were delighted to find the Flip 5 - even better than the previous ones. We love that this one sounds incredible - but love the carrying case that it comes with.

    • Sounds like a blown out car door speaker from the 80’s
Went for the flip 5 because it was not supposed to interupt phone calls and the IP rating would have worked well out on the boat. The good recieved it and battery had 3/4 charge so i turned on Bluetooth on my phone and BAM connected. The realy BAD it sounded like a blown out Krako speaker in an Aries K car. I have multiple chinese blue tooth speakers for a fraction of the price that sound better. Just sterted the return with Amazon. ... show more
