I recently purchased the JBL Flip 5 Waterproof Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker and it has completely revolutionized my life. I never would have thought that a speaker could have such a profound impact, but this one has done just that. It all started on a hot summer day when I decided to take a dip in the pool to cool off. I grabbed my phone to play some tunes while I lounged in the water, but as soon as I got in, my phone took a dive to the bottom of the pool. I frantically searched for it, but it was nowhere to be found. That's when I remembered I had just purchased the JBL Flip 5 speaker. I rushed inside, grabbed the speaker, and brought it back to the pool with me. I was skeptical that it would even work after being submerged in water, but to my surprise, it not only worked, it sounded amazing. The waterproof feature was a game changer and saved my phone from a watery grave. But it's not just the waterproof feature that impressed me. The sound quality of the speaker is top-notch and the volume can get really loud, perfect for pool parties or backyard barbecues. The Bluetooth connectivity is seamless and I can control my music from my phone without ever having to leave the pool. I also purchased the divvi! Protective Hardshell Case to keep my speaker safe on the go. The case is sturdy and keeps the speaker protected when I'm out and about. One day, I was driving down the highway when I saw a school bus full of kids stranded on the side of the road. The bus had broken down and the kids were stuck with no way to call for help. That's when I remembered my trusty JBL Flip 5 speaker. I connected it to my phone and used it as a megaphone to call for assistance. The volume was so loud that it could be heard from miles away. Within minutes, a tow truck arrived and the kids were saved. But that's not all. My JBL Flip 5 speaker has also helped me find love. I was at a local music festival when I saw the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on. I was too nervous to approach her, but I remembered my trusty speaker. I cranked up my favorite love songs and serenaded her from afar. It worked like a charm and we've been together ever since. But the most incredible feat my JBL Flip 5 speaker has accomplished is helping me become an astronaut. I always dreamed of traveling to space, but I never thought it was possible. One day, while blasting off into the stratosphere, my spaceship's communication system malfunctioned. I was stuck orbiting the Earth with no way to call for help. That's when I remembered my trusty JBL Flip 5 speaker. I connected it to my spaceship's emergency radio and used it as a megaphone to call for assistance.     • Best sounding compact Bluetooth speaker I've got

We love having music throughout our apartment. Each room has got speakers, ranging from a low end HiFi-type setup in our TV room & bedroom, to JBL LSR305 in my home office & music project studio (don't sleep on these, they're the best value in monitor speakers) and then a series of Bluetooth speakers in the kitchen and my wife's office. I've also had first-gen JBL Charge for years and years that I use as my low-end/mono test speaker in my home studio & also as an on-location speaker for the occasional photo/video shoot. But, the Charge's batteries, ironically, are not holding as much of a charge anymore. Our BT speakers we have in the kitchen and my wife's office are kind of no-name imported ones. You know, the kind that you see the same design across a thousand brand names on Amazon. My wife wanted one that lights up different colors — that sort of thing was more important than overall sound quality to her. Which, I totally get! They work fine for what they are and how cheap they were. I give you all of this background to understand where I'm coming from when I give this Flip 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I wanted a portable speaker that… a) Was waterproof, because I love listening to music in the shower but always worry about the humidity damaging my Charge b) Sounded *pretty* decent at least, because the cheaper ones we have do tend to be kinda tinny and when put into our tile bathroom are REALLY ringy c) Were durable enough to become my new on-location BT speaker, because of my old Charge's batteries as mentioned d) Ideally, had BT player controls. My Charge did not, and I've been spoiled with my headphones and our other cheapo BT speakers to be able to skip/pause/etc. from the speaker without fumbling with the phone or trying to get Siri to understand me in an echoey tile bathroom. I just got this thing today and tried it out, and it fits ALL of my needs. It sounds fuller & louder than my old Charge with less boomy low mids (no surprise, as it's been years and tech has evolved!). It's got a good heft & feel to it. It's IPX7 waterproof (which means 30 minutes at 1 meter immersion IIRC). I can control playback from the speaker. Plus, I like the monochromatic design (I opted for plain, boring, grey.) And, I might be imagining it, but advanced in Bluetooth tech definitely make it + my iPhone 11 Pro seem like they've got heck of more range. One nitpick/con — the play button doubles as play/pause (one press) or skip (two presses)… I wish it had a skip back button for when I want to repeat a, uh, "bop" of a track and risk slipping in the shower & cracking my skull while dancing in the slick tub. Plus, who here hasn't wanted to repeat The Most Feelsy Part of a song while sitting in the shower, like in a teen movie? The party mode button is cool, sure, but how often are you using that?
