It's not deafening but it does have a nice strong volume. After tapping OK on my cell phone for the high volume and scrolling to maximum, the speaker allows even more volume by pressing and holding the + icon. It is great for me as I use it when I want to sit outside with my dog and listen to music, streaming @ Amazon Prime or listening to Audiobooks. It gives me freedom of movement and I enjoy it better than earbuds. If a call is made to cellphone it will automatically turn off audio and allow conversation. Once call is terminated the audio will resume in music or in audiobooks. It was delivered as promised and packaged well to endure handlers abusive treatment. I wholeheartedly recommend it. We got this in order to be able to listen to live-streamed Facebook broadcasts in the car, coming in on my iPhone. The iPhone speaker was hopelessly inadequate to be audible above road noise. This speaker is plenty powerful enough. Bluetooth pairing was easy, and has been stable. The speaker has + and - controls that remotely adjust the volume on the iPhone. The battery seems to last forever. It uses a USB C charging connector that is to be plugged into a 5-volt source. We have not used it much for music but it works fine -- although you'd never confuse it for a full-range high fidelity system. It would be fine for sitting on the patio or at the beach and having some tunes in the background. The round form factor likes to roll around on the dashboard unless it is firmly placed at the junction of the windshield and the top of the dash. It is designed to sit sideways, unlike some tower-style Bluetooth speakers I have seen in the past. You could stand this on end but it would cover up the sound coming out of one end! When we purchased this it was a great deal compared to others. No disappointment in the least, very nicely made product, great sounds from such a little package, and portable too! Great for working outside or in the shop where you don't have a full system in place.

This is my 5th speaker from jbl, the charge 3 blew a speaker twice now returned twice, my clip 3 screen broke off within one drop, returned once, and now this one doesn't want to charge anymore and I've had it less than a year. Im starting to really hate this brand of "durable" speakers.

Gave this as a gift. My son had a friend who had on and liked it. I had a chance that Christmas Day and was amazed at the sound that little box put out. Sounded like a much bigger and more expensive system. Every pleased with my gift and so was my son.

This is our second purchase of these speakers. We also have a Flip 4 that we have used for quite some time now and ended up letting our son have and we ordered the Flip 5. Really solid sounding speaker for the money. All ranges are well represented for highs, to mids to solid base. Highly recommend.

    • Great volume and sound quality

The sound quality of very good, no loss of bass, which I like, and good volume. The only problem I have is that it will not connect for zoom meetings, but I'm guessing the problem is Zoom.
