Product arrived on time. Normally this is where I put "and undamaged", I cannot say that this time. When I took the Flip 3 from the box, I immediately heard a small rattle like there is a small screw or piece of plastic loose inside. I turned it on and it works fine, however this is why I cannot give 5 stars. I have been 'flip'ping about the decision on whether or not to return it; and I will be returning it for a replacement just to be safe. I already have a JBL Flip 3 that I purchased with my last phone and I like it so much I purchased this one to match my new phone case. The setup is very easy, takes just about 15-20 minutes. The majority of that is downloading the update, which if you plan on using the 'JBL Connect' app is essential. The JBL connect feature, in which 2 speakers can play as a 'party' or as 'left/right speaker', works fine, but it cut out on one speaker after connecting when I left the room with that speaker. Could be just the room I was in or some other interference type thing rather than an issue with the speaker itself. Solid volume for any outing where you want to play some tunes or turn it down for some chilling at home. I rarely have it full volume since it is nearly blaring at that level. As far as the charge length, I have not ever really had the opportunity to clock the time since my phone battery cannot outlast it and generally have it plugged in when I use it at home. The raised buttons offer a nice feel that makes changing volume or connecting to the voice assistant relatively easy. Attached to the speaker itself is a removable nylon rope strap that makes carrying the flip less worrisome. But if you do drop it in the dirt, just rinse it off.. Dont throw it in the tub or anything, but it is water resistant. The app is a bit barren and I could see someone getting frustrated with it at first. It took a bit of time going back and forth from the bluetooth settings to the app before I finally got it to update. The reason I mention that is because without the app the speaker works fine but tends to get glitchy when using 2 phones to play through the Flip. How could I improve on this at this price point? Include a cheap carrying case maybe? I don't know. Simple design features that maximize use seem to be all the rage and the flip is no exception; a well thought out design, light, plenty of volume and water resistant. Well done JBL.

I love this speaker! Very loud and high quality sound that blows away many other speakers that I have. I have a orange JBL flip 3 as well and using the JBL connect feature to have full surround sound. It may skip every now and then or start a song a few seconds late but, it is probably something with the software. I listen to many different genres of music such as classic rock, edm, trap, old school rap and jazz. This speaker just is amazing has good bass, good everything! I have a jbl charge 2+ as well which is insane and has amazing bass but is not as loud as the flip 3. I also use these as my speakers for a small tv I have. I use a aux split cable (1 male cable to two female connections) plug in the aux cords and into the speakers, BOOM much better than those tinny speakers that is in the tv. Watching movies with these is like a mini home theater. Anyways, good work JBL keep it up! I plan on also buying two JBL charge 3's and two Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 3's which are even better! UPDATE: JANUARY 30th, 2016 Still this speaker is going strong i changed my mind on getting a Harman. I have one JBL Charge 3, one JBL Charge 2+ and two JBL Clip 2's. I will be getting a another JBl charge 3 and also getting a aiwa exos-9.

I'm an audiophile. I know how to test speakers. Everyone has personal preferences and objectives so what is "best" for one person isn't necessarily the "best" for the other. However when comparing speakers the benchmark is flat frequency response curve with good dynamic range. Nothing beats this speaker in that respect in the under $100 category. If you want booming Bass, then any under $100 bluetooth speaker isn't going to do it for you but a Charge 2+ or Charge 3 is the next step up but there's lots of competition in that price category that I won't go into. This has the best most even bass and overall sound of anything in the price range. They should have put a flat spot on it to rest on like the Charge though. You can't go wrong with this. I also tried the Va Va Voom 20 and the Sharkk Boombox. This has a flatter response with equal or slightly better bass range.

This is the third JBL Splash I've bought. Got the first one for my daughter's birthday. She loves to sing in the shower or while taking a soak in the tub lol! She said s a theatre major. It blew me away when I first turned it on! I bought two more for my other two kids. It is portable. The charge lasts over 10 hours and is splash proof. It comes in several beautiful colors. They really are beautiful in person. I frequently shop at the Apple Store. I have a Mackbook and iPhone. The Bose sound link was on my wishlist until I heard this speaker. It's also less than half the price and so much cooler looking. I'm planning to purchase one for myself soon. You can answer phone calls use SIRI while you're listening to music. All around a super product!!!

Sounds great! It definitely dosen't have as crisp sound or the volume levels of the flip 4, but still a great little speaker. The sound quality and battery life are very good for the size, and it has a nice aesthetic look to it. I would definitely recommend this speaker to anyone looking for one, however, I bought the flip 4 as well and personally think that for a 20 dollar price difference (At the time I purchased it) the flip 4 is worth buying. The sound quality and volume levels compared to this speaker are noticeably better. And its completely waterproof. But, if you but this speaker you definitely wont be disappointed. Its is very good for the price and I would definitely recommend. Also, it comes charged - which I loved.
