I dig deep base and this delivers. I ordered a Sony field three and this Charge 6 to compare them. The Sony came defective - it had a flashing yellow light and refused to accept charging. Eager to run my test, I then went to Best Buy and got an another Sony and it worked fine so I could compare the two. I also took the opportunity at Best Buy to compare all the speakers in this size class that they had on display. The JBL is definitely better at delivering deep throbbing bass when you use the EQ in the app and raise the bass all the way up. Then you have to use a second EQ on the source side which in my case is the EQ in the Spotify app. Raising the base in Spotify along with the maxed out EQ base in the JBL results in great base -equivalent to the ULT mode on the Sony. But where the JBL outperforms is when you really crank up the volume it will give you great base without distortion whereas with the Sony turning up the volume in ULT mode will result in a lot of clipping on the base which is unlistenable. I compared the two over the course of several days and the JBL was the clear winner. Again the trick is to pre-EQ it for maximum base and then use the JBL app to set the in unit EQ to maximum base. I am a professional motion picture editor and have used JBL studio monitors for over 36 years, so when it comes to critical assessment of audio performance I know a thing or two! This little charge six continually amazes me with the depth of sound that comes out of such a tiny unit. Again, it is definitely better than the ULT field three from Sony. I did a lot of research before ordering these products for comparison and it is interesting that a lot of reviewers and AI results indicated that the Sony had better base, but I think what they are failing to realize is that when you want loud volume with no distorted base, the JBL is much better and when you set your pre-EQ and unit EQ for more base, it is equivalent and I think a bit better than the Sony at moderate volumes. Essentially using the JBL‘s internal EQ is like configuring your own custom ULT button on the Sony. Then my own personal preference is to pre-queue it in Spotify with even more base and it’s great! With no distortion! I’ve attached a couple of pictures that show my EQ settings. The algorithm that JBL is using to manage clipping at loud volumes is the best I’ve ever seen. I can turn the volume up to painful levels and it will not distort. This little thing performs so well that every day I can’t wait to grab it and go for a walk with my tunes blasting and it’s probably keeping me safe from the mountain lions and bears! Another plus for this speaker is that there is a YouTube video showing how to open it up and replace the battery, the process is very easy. However it appears we have to wait a while for replacement batteries to become available. Also, customer service is top-notch. I called at 8 o’clock on a Sunday morning because I got stuck doing the online registration process and got a very helpful person right away, they were in the Philippines or India I think. He acknowledged there was a bug and very patiently typed in all my information And then sent me a personal email with all of the confirming data. Very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient! - Footnote - yes I know how to spell bass, especially since I’m a musician, but obviously Siri’s dictation does not. ... show more

Overall Impression This is my second speaker from the JBL Charge line, and once again, I’m impressed. The Charge 6 builds on what already worked well in previous models while delivering dependable performance, strong sound quality, and easy usability. Design & Build Quality The speaker feels sturdy and well-constructed without being overly bulky. It’s portable, easy to move around, and sits securely on a variety of surfaces. Whether placed on a kitchen counter, coffee table, or taken outdoors, it feels durable enough for everyday use. Setup & Connectivity Setup is quick and straightforward. I’ve had no issues pairing the Charge 6 with any of my devices. Bluetooth connection is stable and reliable, something I really value, as I’ve owned other speakers that occasionally failed to appear or dropped connection. In this area, the Charge 6 performs consistently well. Sound Quality For a speaker in this price range, the sound quality is impressive. Volume: Gets surprisingly loud for its size. Clarity: Remains stable and clear even at higher volumes, with minimal distortion. Bass: Punchy and full without overpowering the mids and highs. Vocals: Crisp and easy to distinguish. The overall sound profile feels balanced and energetic, making it versatile for different genres of music. Compared to the JBL Charge 5 I upgraded from the Charge 5, which already delivered excellent sound. The difference here isn’t dramatic, but the Charge 6 feels slightly louder and punchier, with a bit more fullness at higher volumes. It’s more of a refinement than a complete redesign, but a noticeable and appreciated one. Ideal Use Cases This speaker is well-suited for small to medium-sized rooms and performs great for small outdoor gatherings or backyard settings. I liked it enough to purchase a second unit and place one in each corner of my living space for a more balanced, room-filling setup. The stereo pairing through the JBL Portable app is simple and works seamlessly. Whenever I have friends over, the sound quality consistently gets compliments. Battery Life JBL advertises up to 24 hours of playback (tested at 50% volume). In my experience, listening at around 60% volume yields approximately 17–19 hours on a single charge, which has been more than sufficient for daily use. If I had one minor critique, it would be that battery life drops more noticeably at very high volumes. For example, during an all-day beach trip or extended outdoor event where the speaker is running near maximum volume, you may need to recharge sooner than expected. That said, for normal day-to-day listening and typical gatherings, battery performance has been dependable and not a deal breaker for me. Final Verdict The JBL Charge 6 delivers strong, punchy sound, reliable connectivity, and solid battery performance in a durable, portable design. While the upgrade from the Charge 5 isn’t dramatic, it’s a meaningful refinement. Like the Title Says Great Bang For Your Buck. i have always like the JBL brand as you get good quality speakers for the price you pay special when there on sale. Perfect Size ,Bass and Clarity. Can throw in my backpack, take to back porch or link to my projector to stream audio on movie nights.

Can play loud, filling a small to medium room with sound loud enough for a party as compared to the Apple HomePod mini. Deep and relatively tight bass. Highs are fine, not as sweet or engaging compared to better stand alone speakers costing 3 or 4 times more. Recharging is relatively fast, needing about 1 hour or so. I have only let the speaker play for 15 hours (not the advertised 24 hours) before recharging. The handle is quite handy, making it very portable. The only drawback is the lack of the needed USB cable for recharging. Can streamed from U-tube music as well as subscribed music services such as QoBuz. Can easily replace entry level music system as long as you have a cell phone. Highly recommended! I bought this unit as a second unit for stereo setup. Pros: 1. Satisfying bass and pleasant highs for a portable and compact unit. 2. Easy to set up and connect to the source. 3. Great value when they are on sale for 35% off.
