  • Fantastic sound bar
Style: Bar 5.1
Firstly this sound bar is a killer soundbar at the price point (usually around $349 on sale in Amazon). It’s hard to find a good 5.1 soundbar with good subwoofer at this price. I got this on prime early access deal (2nd prime day) for $288, and it was a no brainer at this price! Without prime sale, it’s usually around 299-349, still a great price. Now let’s talk sound quality: I watched Andrew Robinson’s review about this sound bar (please watch it, it’s the only good technical review available from a proven audiophile YouTuber). He praised it well and recommended it and called it the budget sound bar king, even better than the klipsch 600. I was waiting for prime day sale to buy it… Once I got it in, set up was simple. For all iOS users, download the “JBL Bar set up” app, to add the sound bar to Wi-Fi. It’s very simple that way! Subwoofer was pre paired (it should be from factory, don’t know why some people are saying it was not paired!! But it’s easy to pair). Connected the tv input (Sony x900f for me) and it was up and running. Next make sure to do the calibration, it steps up the sound quality considerably. I made sure “smart mode” was “on”, this mode applies JBL sound processing and smartly and effectively turns any stereo input to 5.1 I was surprised! The smart mode actually sounds very good, it widens the sound stage, and you actually feel the surround sound effect. For my room, I actually get the bouncing effect from the side firing tweeters pretty well, nevertheless, sound stage is pretty wide, and you won’t feel like listening to a 2.1 channel sound. Bass was adequate, I tried between 3 and 4, ended up at 3 since it’s pretty balanced there. The sound bar has 5 front firing full range drivers, no tweeter pairs, but I was surprised: there was good and clear treble in the sound and midrange was also very manageable (clear). Dialogues are nice and clear and clearly seems like it comes from the center driver (mimicking the center channel), even at Smart mode ON. People complain that there are no adjustment options, to be honest you don’t need any! Bass can be adjusted from 1-5, and that’s all you need. The eq settings are nicely tuned from factory and to be very honest, I don’t feel like I have to make any changes. I do own a full Sonos Arc set up (5.2.2) and feel like this JBL bar is pretty good at what it does: providing simple 5.1 sound at a reasonable price without offering gimmick features. I also heard people complaining about longevity, so I also got the 3 year plan from Amazon for $33, totally worth it! Peace of mind. Recommend everyone getting it cause you never know when electronics fail. $33 is a bargain. I ordered the soundbar 600 before, returned it cause it clearly sounded a 2.1 sound bar even with surround option “on” and loudness was not adequate. This JBL, which is cheaper, sounds day and night better and I love it! It’s nice and loud, sound stage is wide, and everything is perfectly pre tuned from factory. To sum up, don’t read the negatives, no one can guarantee you anything when it comes to electronics. The sound bar is actually very good, and you won’t be disappointed. But do recommend the 3 year plan ($33), for peace of mind. Even with the added pan, total price is very good and lower than other gimmick sound bars… great job JBL, and thanks Andrew Robinson for an honest video! Check his review out, you will get the real picture… ... show more

  • Worth the money
Style: Bar 5.1
I like jbl as they make quality products the remote could've been little wider and not so slim with some grip built-in so it don't slide off bed or couch so easily the remote is basic for a 350 system the sound is awesome I have it set at 12 and the lvl 4 bass vibrates the floor based on what I'm watching or listening to it connects to my tv using optical cable and HDMI with my PS5 and it turns off & on with the TV to which it mutes the TV speakers automatically my place is small so I don't need to have it loud to hear it as the sound bar is on my TV stand under the TV on its shelf as it generates heat when on so I made space for it as can't sit under the TV itself as it's too wide and both speakers need a plug of there own but the large subwoofer connects wirelessly to the soundbar which takes up the footprint of a original xbox space wise buy with payments if you can or when it's on sale ... show more

  • Sound quality is what you would expect.
Style: Bar 5.1
Attractive when installed. Sound is very good for a single source system. Not as good as a real surround sound system for movies. The disappointment comes in the restoration process. They ask for the serial number, model number etc, but if it is printed on the device it is so very small, and mixed in with a dozen languages that I could never find it. Spent a great deal of time dealing with that part of the purchase. Why this company can not simply engrave a tag on the back in a font and size that a normal person can identify is beyond me. I was not able to register the device, so if I ever have warentee issues I'll just take it off the wall and replace it with a different brand and not ever buy a JBL product. ... show more

  • Just a bit too expensive when you can get as good for less.
Style: Bar 5.0
I bought this hoping it would be the perfect product for my needs as I was blown away with how good the JBL Extreme2 is for portable music enjoyment. I ended up buying a few other sound bars to compare to within the same price point (i.e., Bose TV Speaker with BT and HDMI-ARC, Majority Sierra 2.0.2, and Sony HTX8500). This bar packed a punch. If you're accustomed to getting some "bang for your buck," this unit does not disappoint. It's sleek, has great display settings, and will impress. My main "beef" with this bar is the that it didn't out perform the Sony, which was significantly less expensive. Honestly, I don't have any complaints with the product's performance. I was considering staying with the JBL...but just couldn't come up with a reason to pay that much more money when I was getting as good of a performance from the Sony. ... show more

  • Great sound bar amazing sound but not for everyone
Style: Bar 5.0
The sound is amazing but its not for everyone. This soundbar is made for a medium size to a large living room or you risk balancing issues. It tries to give you movie theater sound. So you raise the volume to comfortable level to hear voices and when an explosion happens you really feel the boom. Great for family movie night. Not for people who don't want to wake the baby or annoy neighbors. Its for the guy who uses a projector and his whole wall as a screen. Gaming very good sound, music is where this thing shines. I took a star off bc it has features like smart sound and night mode but they are not mentioned in the manual and not on the remote, plus no app to tweak the soundbar? So lacks some features. Make sure you have an eArc port or you won't get the best sound possible. I bought at half price so definitely worth it. Don't buy for Dolby Atmos . I get multi channel pmc. Wish it was a little more balanced for a bedroom. Make sure your EArc port is on in your tv settings. Night mode does not work well. No modes like movie game or cinema ... show more
